Here's a list

Arthur Beetson
Larry Corowa
Owen Craigie
Paul Davis
Leo Dyvenor
Andrew and David Fifita
Ron Gibbs
Rob Lui
Daine Laurie
Graham Lyons
Kevin and Ken McGuinness
Ewan McGrady
Wes Patten
Corey Patterson
Scott Prince
Kevin Yow Yeh

Possibly missed some

They're some talent they're alright. Brett Davis and Ian Naden from the magpies late 80's.

Percy Knight comes to mind - in the Cliffy Lyons mould.
Came to Balmain around the same time as Larry Corowa.

a video of a game featuring both percy knight and larry corowa for balmain in 1980\. for those of us that never saw either play.

Nice flashback, BB&G. Being an old bugger I had the privilege of seeing all of those blokes go around. Percy Knight was a very underrated player, he had some great ball skills.

Interesting to compare some of the aspects of the game to today's lot. They actually had real scrums and there were no theatrics, back slapping and group hugs after someone scores a try like they carry on with today - it was all very business-like lol. And how about Rabs' young, posh voice! He made a few mistakes in the call though, even back then

I know where you are coming from Flip. pretty sure I was around to watch all of them as well  and what about Rab's voice :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep pretty sure Happy thinks we're the oldest 2 people on the planet, older than all the people in the Bible, probably older than the Bible itself!

There was some real speed in that team - Corowa, McMahon, Wigham. All really good players. Wayne Wigham could have been anything - didn't quite kick on like I thought he would, but still had a great combination with Dennis Bendall when he came in to the team. Good memories. Greg Oliphant was a tough little rooster too. And Rod Morris was one of the best front rowers Balmain ever had.

Brings back many memories. The team had good strike power all across the paddock. How refreshing not to see wrestling dominating football

I don't know why people keep writing all these Balmain and Wests players.. the thread title says ''Best Wests Tigers Indigenous Player'' My vote was gonna be Robert ''The Hitman'' Lui, until i found out that Scott ''The Book Writer'' Prince was indigenous.

True - and on each occasion, we have given our opinion on who was/is the best indigenous Wests Tigers player. However, I don't see anything wrong with people wishing to add an opinion about others who have worn either the Balmain or Wests Magpies jerseys. Give us oldies a break!

Yet the first paragraph states the three entities, and the first player was from Balmain.

I, like quite a few others on here have supported a team for decades prior to your birth and have our memories from our childhood. Our minds are not like modern technology as you can't simply erase the information and start with a blank space.

You too will have similar memories, I just hope your team still exists in its current form when you reminisce.

I think weve come far in this joint venture that we no longer need to fear out past. It really should be embraced.

With 2 foundation teams combined WE HAVE THE MOST HISTORY OF ANY NRL TEAM.

More than any other club, have a think about that people. It really is a feature of this club and one that should be celebrated and be represented in all aspect of club promotion.

Create a new identity yeah but dont ever give up on our history.

Arthur Beetson, Larry Corowa and Kevin Yoh Yeh for mine. But there are plenty of others. These three are standouts in my books.

Paul Davis had huge ability but was lazy and never reached his full potential

William Bubba Kennedy was quick and had plenty of skills but he was a bush boy who missed home.

Big Arty and the black flash by panels
