Biggest Halves Ever?

Apart from being the biggest,slowest halves in the history of the NRL I think it is Potter's biggest mistake in his NRL coaching career to date

Someone please tell me where any points are going to come from ??

give em a chance at least? people dissed anasta too, but he stood up against the storm. i reckon sirro can score an easy try by rolling over the speed bump soward, who knows. maybe big halves is the next big thing in league? :laughing: joking, but it could prove effective against the dragons.

i can't really think of a better option ESPECIALLY in the long term when benj comes back.

I'm that convinced he has got it wrong I've just changed my tip

We have a piss slow backline

We have a guy that hasn't played in almost 12 months in top company who is recovering from shoulder surgery

Add that to the fact this combination has never played together and has no speed and a fullback that will take no pressure off our 6 and 7

Why are people saying Sironen jnr is so slow he isn't Koroibete but he would be quicker then many halves including Nathan fine for the dragons

I reckon we need at least 18 points to roll the Dragons and I can't see where the hell they will come from

The key premise of most sports is to score more points than the opposition

Soward will put a bomb up that someone will probably drop or not contest , Soward will make Lawrence look the fool at some stage

I just can't see us outdefending them if that is Potters plan

Well, 18 points. 1 to tedesco off a farah kick like vs storm. Aysh or lawrence can bag one running over a smaller centre or soward. And I think woodsy can barrage through the line to make his stake on origin known.

My biggest worry is our metres differential, just saw that article on metres gained vs metres conceded. Tigers dead last with -200+ per game. We need go forward!! Even with galloway we wouldn't be doing amazingly…

Cooper is one of the best defensive centres in the NRL .Stanley might be a possibility but Morris outside reads the game pretty well defensively

Unfortunately I'm used to dealing with reality ,you should take it up some time ,it might be daunting though

Sirro being picked to partner Anasta when we already have limited attacking options

We're not being pessimistic, we're being realistic, that with two big, slow halves, one an experienced ball player and game controller, the other a rookie with 4 games up his sleeve and a year off first grade = seems like it's balanced itself out but I can just see Sirro getting lost in the play, caught out by the defence and spending 80% of the game back-tracking to catch up to the opposition.

It's a walking disaster zone and I hope Mick quick-smart realises what he has done after we lose tomorrow and works out a combination we can actually effectively utilise in attack.

To be honest, the Dragons have only had 2 decent games, finally strung together a little bit of an attack, though for the most part have been impotent attack wise since Bennett. Unless we capitulate, we have pretty good on line defence, but we leak points from long range. Thats not the Dragons style. They play the field position grind, something we would be more effected by if Marshall was kicking like a fool at the back ends of sets. Braith and Curtis should straighten us up a bit, and will be receptive to implementing potters plan more directly….

The Dragons arent Manly or the Storm. We have played some good games (well parts of them) and I dont think St George will stay as composed if we put them to the torch. Most of Benjis try assists havent been anything special, the numbers just stack up because he is first reciever. I have a feeling we will be more diverse across the park in attack rather than the usual Robbie leaning on Marshall as his go to in the halves. We havent been scoring a tonne anyway, so I see little difference in potency, we should get more percentage plays thus better field position. I honestly think we will spend more time in a better range making us genuinely threatening. We arent a lame duck, and the Dragons have definitely leaked a few.

If we move up too quickly in defence the Dragons will go wide and definitely have the speed advantage out wide

Soward's running game if forced to run could damage us as well

The Dragons have more options in attack than us and if we make defensive errors close to our line Rein will make us pay

Thats my concern the Dragons have more in attack , so we picked a halfback and five eight with virtually no speed and no running game to attack them on the fringes

Which would of probably meant he was going to get a go anyway this season but he was just waiting for Siro to get some more time in NYC. Sironen getting some more first grade experience will not harm us. Correct me if I am wrong the Benji/Siro halves combo is 4/5 games but in the fifth game he got injured halfway through and so did a couple of other players.

I read that as meaning he would put Sironen in the team somewhere, didn't necessarily mean in the halves

I agree, I tried to keep it short(er) by saying they have only played 2 good games. Both of those games they were allowed to choose the tempo, oddly enough though this season, especially the last few games, we are starting defensively tough, and imposing our tempo even on Manly and the Storm.

When the going gets tough we revert attacking wise to banging pigs in around the markers. If we open with the same defensive starch we have shown recently, I would bet that the Dragons regress back to limp old impotent form off habit.

Lockyer only sounds like he is choking.

They have a solid core who have been together for a while who are known to buckle when the going gets tough.... and off recent form, we can definitely take them there.
