Biggest Hitter/Best Defender

O.K. since the announcement of the signing of Joel Edwards, the discussion has led to at least one poster suggesting that a big hitter doesn't necessarily mean a good defender. I agree.
So I thought it might be interesting to discuss who in people's opinion is the biggest hitter they have seen, and who is the best defender.
For mine, 3 names spring to mind - guys who were both big hitters and great defenders …
Jason Gillespie, Trevor Gillmeister and Terry Randall.
What do you think?
 
Jason Gillespie was not a big hitter, he could barely clear the boundary rope.
David on the other hand, I would have run to the other side of the ruck, he could really hit hard.

Napa would have been even more dangerous if the shoulder charge was still allowed. Do you think Napa will end up better than Woods? Completely different styles of front rowers who I think will battle it out in Origin for many years to come.

Dale Finucane is also a good hitter and defender.

lovett and buchanan would have to be in the top 3.

No one ever mentions Junior.

Used to snap bigger players in two time and time again.

Out of him and Cement and the Axe for biggest and best technique!

Current one i would say the elder Traaaboyaaaavich!
 
Peter Ryan was both a big hitter and technically a great defender.

In todays game, Boyd Cordner & Alex Glenn can deliver both aspects well.

At the Tigers, Kyle Lovett could become a player who can fill this role with another year under his belt.

Otherwise, more seriously none of the current guys really standout. SBW when he decides to play league is obviously up there. Plummy would have been in there, and our young Funaki was apparently the strongest hitter at our club.
 
Happy Tiger …he could either belt them head on rocking them in their socks or cut them down with scything bootlace tackles ending up with a mouthful of mud...
 
Peter Johnston could really whack them and was my favourite

Cement Gillespie ,Peter Kelly ,Trevor Gillmeister , Paul Conlan , Lincoln Withers ,Wally Lewis ,Mark Graham , Peter Ryan , Reuben Wiki ,David Kidwell , Junior Pearce ,Paul Harragon and Mark Carroll are blokes who would have some you tube classics

Pound for pound one of the best hitters going round currently is Granville and Plum

Yep Davo could belt them , forgot about Wally Fullerton Smith and John Fifita used to crush blokes as well
 
My memorys bad but I do recall Ray Higgs hurt they reckon…Mark Glanville wasnt bad either

OOps! Not sure where the 'Jason' came from! Must be the Alzheimers rearing its ugly head again.

Charlie Frith was another who was considered to be a fellow to be avoided at all costs.
 
Steve Matai would have to be up their when he isn't down with a shoulder injury. Not a big hitter but Preston Campbell had a great technique. Can't run without legs. Damn storm and their wrestling
