Blair blah blah

Blair doubters if you don't like "haters" which in hindsight was probably a poor choice of words. My point was all through 2008 people were saying Gareth Ellis would be no good, then all through the off season before 2010 people were saying Lote was not worth it. Both have been fantastic (when on the field). I am expecting those doubting Blair will be made to look silly, much like those who doubted Lote and Gaz. Blair is a class player and will add a lot to our defence (where he's one of the best in the game).

But who are they?
Name them.

For the record I was skeptical on Ellis, he didnt really impress me much once i'd watched him after we'd signed him….but I stated publicly I'd keep an open mind, hoping he would go well for us

All recruits are something of a gamble....some work, some dont

Been pretty quiet so far but I don't care if he plays busted for the rest of the year as long as he turns it on for us next year. Melbourne lookin a little lost without Cronk at the moment

Forum dates back to July 2009, after Ellis had played half a season with us, but here's some quotes from the Tuqiri thread

I'm still suspicious about the whole Lote affair. I don't see how we need him as a footballer at all, we are overloaded with wingers already.

Lote is a signing for the Wests Tigers brand, not the football team. By 2012, he will be wearing a suit and doing promotions work exclusively, I reckon.

It was interesting to read on on nrl.com that payton said that lote would be on the wing. I think that it is a massive waste to spend 400k on a player and put him on the wing. I would be looking to drop ashyford and put lote in the centres or put AT on the bench, moltzen to half and lote to full back….. Thoughts.

I think it would be bad management if we were to sign him. We've already signed enough outside backs, and Tuqiri will be 31 next year. Save the money for a top front rower.

u r a douche!!

lol you say gallant (who barely cracks FG) is better then a dual international? i stand by my douche statement lol

Yep…What's Lote done lately.....Oh that's right it's a secret...Duel International...that was years ago.....Lote is past it 31 like he's going to put in week in week out for 120K....Gallant's on the rise.....He plays cause he loves it and has a deep desire to succeed......Insults are easy......Surely you can come up with someting better than Dual International......

Thank god, we can now direct those dollars towards the frontrow

The last was made in reply to a post saying we weren't going to sign him.

So, there's what you wanted (not sure what you wanted to achieve), some of the doubters, after going through a few pages of a massive thread. Lote proved all the doubters wrong, as did Ellis, and Blair will too.

Blair will be 3 years younger than Ellis was (when he arrived) at the start of March next year, and if Blair plays in the 4 nations (which he will unless he's injured) will have played more international games than Gareth Ellis had at the point of both joining the club (Ellis has played 30 now, and around 7-8 since joining us, Blair has played 21) despite playing for a much stronger nation. Blair is the leader of the forward pack in the team who is running away with the minor premiership, and vice captain of the 4 nations champions.

Can't wait for Adam to pull on OUR jersey ! he is the complete forward package. Runs the ball up strongly, tackles hard and is a ball player what a dynamite second row we are going to have and doesn't mind getting into the front row .What a great signing!

last night I thought Blair had a really strong second half, did the little things well. Also did not look at the stats but cant remember him being interchanged, so he must have a big engine. He will be very good for us

Some of those opinions are just points of view, neither right nor wrong,
Those saying Lote isnt worth it have somewhat of a point this season, dont you think?
Hardly people saying they hate them…one mentions his price - that has affected us now.
Another mentions our depth in the outside backs....not incorrect there.

I dont see anyone saying:

And the ones who said Lote would be no good. Those people were on the money weren't they?

My point is its so very easy to say allllll these people a long time ago said :blah :blah when in fact unless you quote them, most times they didnt.

@Marshall_magic said:

There was only one person who said that, he actually called him a pillow from memory, then comes on here acting like he knows more than everyone else. It's rather comical.

Havin Blair and Ellis in the one pack will be awesome, having Lote run an edge with either them will be just as lethal, nice to look forward to :righton:

The exciting thing for me is that we will be able to play Blair wider than the Storm do. He does all the small stuff now but the Storm are mainly using him in tight. Sheens will give him more width in attack which will improve his attack

Blair dosent seem to do much in any game. Still not sure why their is so much hype. Misses tackles too.

Blair had a real big second half last night, kept the Dragon edge attack at bay, slowed the play the balls down and ran some good dirty yards. He will be great, Ellis on one side and Blair on the other. The other thing he has a big engine, can play 80 minutes if required

Look, I dont want to be critical, but for his price & so called "best player ever" shouldnt he have 2 big halves.
Really I could think of 10 backrowers that work harder & would be better value than Adam Blah Blah.

At $500,000 a season he will love it.

Was this amount ever confirmed or was it just media conjecture??

The figure was put together by the media. They could be right but I highly doubt the club will come out and say, "yes, we're paying Adam Blair $500K." When have you ever seen any club come out and say how much they're paying someone. We'll never know what Adam Blair gets paid

Did Blair sleep with your missus mate? This is your second Blair thread! His work rate looked fine last night.

I for one am excited to see the big kiwi man amongst our ranks next season. I think you'll be giving yourself an uppercut after a few games next season.

If he slept with my missus he would have to increase his work rate…otherwise he would be benched! If you were satisfied with his work rate in the StGI game , fair enough. All I am saying , is that for all the hype around him and the fact that we are reshuffling our team to accomodate him I expect a LOT more than what I saw the other night...I reserve judgement.

Wow this is a nothing thread.

Blair is 100% signed and what he does for the rest of this year means almost nothing to the Tigers except to possibly hurt our chance of a premiership.

Let him take the field next year, get some games under his belt with his new teammates and structure, then critique.
