It is a lot of money for a forward. I wonder how much Dugan or Boyd would cost.

Boyd will go close to 400 k I reckon Dugan about 350 k looking at current contracts going around

i would rather boyd for 400k than blair for 500k, especially with mckinnon going

Mail seems to be that Dugan will be at the Roosters in 2013.

Great player needs to get his head right and shrink his ego a little.

Would love to see Boyd here but it won't happen, reckon _**he will finish up back at the Broncos**_.

Coote is not a bad option.

Cant see that happening… Boyd didnt leave on good terms. (Although, that was in Bruno's day)

I love Gibbs and Fulton and think both can have great games.

The main problem with Fulton is lack of size and therefore no concentration and go forward. His best assets are in attack near the line and running off Marshall/ Farah and his defence - both very worthy things I will add. I don't want him to go but if Blair comes…

Gibbs I have grown to love and I think he has cut out a lot of his idiocy form years gone by. The problem is the refs have branded him a trouble maker and penalise him just on suspicion. I don't want to lose Gibbs as I think there good years ahead for him.

I was excited about Blair and I suppose still will be if we sign him. No probs with Gibbs and Fulton going, but 500K is way too much imo.

I'd throw plenty at Manly's Michael Robertson. A solid player that can play fullback or wing. Plus he holds the record for most consecutive games although injured atm. Wes Neqama would fit the bill also.

This has been going on for weeks & we can claim long service leave, $500,000 for this bloke is big big bucks but is ellis going to see out the last two years of his contract & thats why they are signing up blair?.

Agree on Robertson.

Nothing flashy a solid player at the back who can find the line. Scored 70 odd tries in his five years at Manly. Only issue is that he's just turned 28, I'd look for someone a bit younger, but he fits the bill and would be a good replacement at the moment.

King's not backrow. Blair is not better than Lewis or Creagh or B.Scott or Gallen or even Bird. Check his work load, he NEVER gets a mention on how brilliant he is in a Storm game, it all comes from his manager & beatups from the press. His stats against the lowley Sharks were
32 tackles 4 misses 9 hitups for 60 metres 1 error 1 offload. All this for $500k (tell him they're joking).
Fulton stats againts best team in comp.
35 tackles 1 miss 14 hitups for 72 metres 2 errors.
Gibbs stats againts best team in comp.
16 tackles 1 miss 12 hitups for 87 metres 2 errors.

i'll take Blair over Creagh any day of the week…and twice on sunday

Horrible.

**Why do we need Adam Blair…and at such a high cost!.**..I think we are right for 2nd rowers!...Ellis will no doubt go back to the ESL when his contract is up...by that time a Dwyer/ Murdoch-Masilla combination would be lethal!...and at half the price of Blair without having to shed player who would give blood for the Tigers in Gibbs, Rhino and Fulton...**I'm starting to wonder and doubt if signing Blair is worth it!**

bleeding for the club is well and good but if thats the only reason you would take them over Blair then that is a weak reason…bleeding for your club doesn't win you games class does...and while i wouldn't part with Rhino, Blair has more class than Gibbs and Fulton combined

For real?

Scott's a good defender, but he offers little in attack. Blair has size (can play front and back row), dents the line in attack and can offload to create second phase play.

I wouldn't get rid of rhino or Galloway to sign Blair as that really undoes the good of signing Blair in the first place. With payten officially retiring, McKinnon leaving for hull plus a few fring players leaving, do we really need to shed both Fulton and Gibbs?
Is Blair going to actually be on 500k?

Also, I noticed you only picked out one game to compare stats. It's easy to cherry pick data to suit your argument…

Against the Broncos, Blair's stats were:
23 tackles, 2 missed tackles, 12 runs, 111 metres, 2 offloads, 1 error.

Against the Broncos, Fulton's stats were:
15 tackles, 2 missed tackles, 8 runs, 36 metres, 0 offloads, 1 error.

Gibbs' stats against the Broncos:
16 tackles, 1 missed tackles, 8 runs, 63 metres, 0 offloads, 0 errors.

We need Blair, Im convinced of it.

With Ellis out we have seen that we lack the mongrel and Strike power in the 2nd Row.

Dywer is good but he is young and not there yet when starting….

I think we need Blair as a backup in case Gareth Ellis doesn't see out his contract and/or to take his place as leader of the pack when he finishes.

Blair offers us something Fulton and Gibbs can't - IMPACT.

Fulton has been superseeded by both Ellis & Dwyer, meaning that he is now a bench player. Gibbs can tackle but that's about all. Both these guys have had years to entrench themselves in our pack. They are now seen as workmanlike players in a pack that gets dominated too often. Hard for me to say because like many on here I love these guys.

Boyd is an interesting question - highly unlikely and i reckon he is also a mug (we will see how he goes if he has to leave the wing of Bennett). Geez i would really like to see Moltzen make a fist of it. He is being forced to learn on the job which is never easy. Did he ever play fullback in NYC? Doesn't seem like he did. His major problem at fullback is positioning and this is why he looks so uncertain all the time (i totally reject suggestions by some on this forum that he is not courageous).

Have you ever seen him attack the ball?….have you ever seen him jump for a bomb?...his best defence seems to be his hands as that's all he uses in Defence!

I didn't "cherry pick" that was just the last round.
Interesting you chose Broncos match Fulton 28 minutes {1st game back from injury}
Gibbs 37 minutes similar return
Blair 71 minutes also none of the Broncos stars.
You keep putting out how good he is, please supply the statistics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
who wants to pay $500k for [23 tackles, 2 missed tackles, 12 runs, 111 metres, 2 offloads, 1 error.] against a crappy under strength Brisbane side.

I'm against shedding Gibbs to get Blair. If he is that good a player Melbourne would keep him. Gibbs defense and line speed is awesome and the guys commitment and loyalty deserves better than to be shopped around like some b grader. Don't be fooled by the Melbourne rhetoric that they would love to keep blair if they could. Dont you find it ironic the bloke they let go last year inglis has done sweet fa at souths? And what about white? Playing off the bench in a team coming last. If they wanted Blair they would find a way in my opinion
