Bodene Thompson Leaving The Wests Tigers

And what happened to the 5 players that were told they could look for another club, Rowe, Brown, Luani, Moltzen, Buchanan we haven't let any of them go, I'm sure moltzen would have freed up a bit of money, looks like we are keeping them ?

Settle petals. Whilst happy to retain him (terms having been agreed), realistically Bodene is no great loss, and should not be enough to make Happy angry.

I'm with Geo on Santi, his short amount of time on the paddock in one top grade match showing enough for me that he belongs and deserves a shot.

I also think that we will be announcing players of a similar ilk coming through the revolving doors for next year, and then be able to attract good players at a reasonable rate for the following season.

The comprehensive overhaul at WT will not have gone unnoticed by players and their managers. As such, along with our crop of talented youngsters, we are now a much more attractive option.

Some people forget we finished way down the ladder with these players .thompson will go well at the warriors behind a huge pack going forward ,but as some have said he is no great loss .he is just a worker ,not a player who will turn a game or win you a game .lets back the santos and lovetts we have coming thorough .Taylor isn't stupid , he has a plan up his sleeve .no more fringe guys ,let's build a squad that's competitive week in week out even if it does take a couple of years to build . Be patient ,Bodene wasn't going to win us a comp .

Surely JT has someone lined up. Otherwise how/why would he have said no to Takairangi before confirming Thompson is staying?

I said in an earlier thread that JT has a plan for our playing group,at the moment it is early days,he knows that there are some good players coming off contract next year at the Rorters and he also likes some of our younger players that still need time to develope.
Although to me Bodene is a loss, only because as 1/4 said he is a worker, nothing brilliant but does his work.
Everyone has agreed with the changes that are happening around the club, let's be a little more patient and see where we are at come trials time..I'm pretty sure JT doesn't want to end up in the same situation that Potter did and is building a solid platform for our future on and off the field..

Good luck to Bodene ,family is very important in life, doesn't matter what your job is…..

All were shopped around to NRL and ESL and no real interest without tigers paying up to 50% of salary. Same issue with Lawrence.

This was from Ronald himself!!!!

They had agreed terms. Bodene was the one who brushed us. You can't blame WTs

 can't blame Wests Tigers…if you guys haven't worked out how Mayer operates by now You never will.

What pat of Bodene brushed us dont you understand?Have you ever entered ANY thread on this forum without hijacking it for your endless sack Mayer agenda. :wtf

Doesn't Moss look after contract negotiations now?

It's an opportunity for Santi no doubt. Good luck, I hope he takes it with open arms.

I also think JT has a Plan B. I just hope the scuttlebutt is right on

I am glad Thompson did not stick around, obviously many here have not seen how the game has changed. It is a power game now and Bodene does not fill that area and might I say a few more of the clubs forwards do not as well that is another story.
Bodene just was not big enough end of story, the game has changed players of his size will become extinct in the not to distant future sad but true …

However you might care to reflect on the fact that of the players who performed well in the games early this year which we won, we will no longer be enjoying the services of - Fulton, Austin, Gavet, Thompson and Patterson. And we have signed to replace them…...... no one!!!!!

This is the worst loss of talent I can recall since Wests lost Boyd, Brown, Raudonikus and Dorahy, but hey we have a great coaching staff now so lets break out the champers.

I think that this is an exaggeration however you have a point. Austin was great for us. Thompson was pretty good. Fulton was great but he was always an undersized backrower who performed much better when the forward pack as a whole was going forward and he could slot into a wide running role as well as utilize his great work rate in defense. Gavet was basically terrible. He was great when he was on fire but he he missed tackles and gave away heaps of penalties. Patterson was basically terrible as well although he was played in the centres and on the wing.

We do though now need heaps more luck with injuries than what we did last year and last year we got hammered. We need outside backs with speed and some second rowers who can bust the line. I think Sirro will turn into a quality backrower but who is going to play on the other side. We really need Simona, Lawrence and Nofo to fire and be fit. Richards simply doesn't have it in him to give us penetration out wide.

Our squad is not looking great. Moses, Brooks, Tedesco and Farah will need to fire and stay on the field. Our forwards will have to be disciplined and consistently good.

A big loss, he has been one of our best.
Thanks Bodene, it was a pleasure to watch you play

What will be a loss is his experience and he seemed to be popular among the group, brought a great sense of camaraderie

My god, some people just have it out for the club. You're not forced to support this club.

This has absolutely nothing to do with management. The guy wanted to leave for family reasons. End of.

Good luck Bodene.

That's alright to say that . But supporters have the right to expect better and when you struggle to see where that is coming from you ask questions and get annoyed

That alright Moh , you just keep accepting the unders the Tigers continually offer

What's more Irvine's been on the mark more often than not , so a semblance of respect would be nice

Perhaps if you don't like how we support the club you could go and support Cronulla , they would suit you to the ground

Go on, tell me how the Tigers could have done better to keep someone who wanted to live in a country where a large majority of his family are?

Yup, unders.

What you don't seem to understand is that every club has issues, and sure the majority have handled it better than the Tigers have in the past. But we're moving forward, with a promising group of staff. So let the season begin before you down the club.

For family reasons!? Does that mean Canberra have offered lotsa money…

You didn't read the article the whole way through, did you Alf?

Shame he is leaving , but family reasons you can't try to keep them at your club , only thing I haven't heard of the warriors chasing him , time will tell , Taylor will have something of a plan with 2015 season and I'm sure 2016 will see the tigers really push into the market , we will let some go but I'm sure we will buy probably 2 or three good solid top liners

Whoa…a new twist on I'm a better supporter than you.....impressive

As for Thompson...we can only take what has been stated as true...We offered him a contract...he left for family reasons.....

Opens the door for Santi to set up and fill the void....

I hope so I rate Santi, in my opinion he can be a kinda player that Fulton was or even a Hindmarsh kinda player but again that's my opinion on the kid

Seven tries for a backrower isn't bad for a short stint. He was good for us esp this year.

Still remember his first game for us against the storm I think- can't remember the last time a backrower running and hitting so hard for us since Ellis.

He was talented and had potential. But with only 60 games in what 4-5 years? You never know if he was gonna reach his potential.

Good luck bodene.

Confirmed on nrl.com

Kiwi back rower Bodene Thompson is joining the Warriors on a three-year contract for the 2015, 2016 and 2017 NRL seasons.

While revealing Thompson’s signing, Warriors general manager Dean Bell also confirmed second rower Jayson Bukuya had been granted a release on compassionate grounds to return to Sydney.

The Tauranga-born Thompson boasts a total of 85 NRL appearances for the Gold Coast Titans and Wests Tigers and is now in camp with the Kiwis for their 2014 Four Nations campaign. He was 18th man for their encounter with Toa Samoa in Whangarei last night.

Friggin brilliant. All one way traffic at the moment, and mostly players that made an impression during 2014\. Next year is looking very dark.

not in the room i'm in…maybe turn on the light mate...

Delusional - that is all I can say. But if it turns on your lights then great. However you might care to reflect on the fact that of the players who performed well in the games early this year which we won, we will no longer be enjoying the services of - Fulton, Austin, Gavet, Thompson and Patterson. Comparing the loss of Austin, Thompson, Fulton, Gavet and Patterson to Wests losing Boyd, Brown, Raudonikis and Dorahy is a bit rich Pete - the latter 4 were Australian reps! lol.

However, I do agree with your overall sentiments - we need to sign some decent replacement players for this coming season, not just wait around until 2016\. Continually relying on youngsters to fill the void left by departing first graders is a huge gamble, as this club should've learned by now - some make the grade, but many don't.

I agree with you flip , we do require players for 2015 we are lacking players with experience , but unfortunately i think we have left it to late and there isn't much out there now , if anything there isn't any :unamused: .
I do expect us to get in the Market for our 2016 Campaign and sign some decent players if we don't then i would be worried.
