Bodene Thompson Leaving The Wests Tigers

Of course the club would never admit it, but I'm being to suspect that 2015 will be yet another year of developing juniors before entering the market in 2016.

Perhaps Lawrence is moving to the back row? If he finds his old form in the back row we have solved many headaches in one move.

The only quality first grader we've lost is Fulton. Austin is close but still has some significant holes in his game.

The others were depth players who did some things well but were not in any way complete NRL players.

With the greatest of respect to Bodene Thompson, the only reason he stood out last season was because we were so generally rubbish as a unit. Austin benefitted from that too.

Due to some previous signing decisions which have worked out badly we don;t seem to have much cash for 2015 signings - and other teams aren;t going to pay anywhere near full price to take overpayed, sub-standard players off our hands.

Taylor is here for 3 years, 2015 may well be focussing on developing our young players as part of a 3 year plan. But I guarantee he will be hung, drawn and quartered by many people if results don;t come immediately.

This move cannot come early enough and it would give a new centre combination plenty of time to build up in the new pre-season. He would be a very good chance to find a new lease of life playing in the back row and his speed, even though he slowed down over the past two years, would be more than adequate in this position. don't forget that Thompson was originally a centre.

Friggin brilliant. All one way traffic at the moment, and mostly players that made an impression during 2014\. Next year is looking very dark.

not in the room i'm in…maybe turn on the light mate...

Delusional - that is all I can say. But if it turns on your lights then great. However you might care to reflect on the fact that of the players who performed well in the games early this year which we won, we will no longer be enjoying the services of - Fulton, Austin, Gavet, Thompson and Patterson. And we have signed to replace them…...... no one!!!!!

This is the worst loss of talent I can recall since Wests lost Boyd, Brown, Raudonikus and Dorahy, but hey we have a great coaching staff now so lets break out the champers.

Talk about delusional!!!

You are comparing Fulton, Austin, Gavet, Thompson and Patterson ( five first grade players ) to Boyd, Brown, Raudonikus and Dorahy ( four Internationals ). Wow.

The idea of lawrence being a backrower is very appealing…his D is very good and for a backrower he'd be pacy...worth a shot for sure.

What will be a loss is his experience and he seemed to be popular among the group, brought a great sense of camaraderie

In a interview two years ago, Bodene said he always tried to look at the bright side of life. A very positive and fun loving guy. Like you said Ink, his teammates will miss him.

Comparing the loss of Austin, Thompson, Fulton, Gavet and Patterson to Wests losing Boyd, Brown, Raudonikis and Dorahy is a bit rich Pete - the latter 4 were Australian reps! lol.

However, I do agree with your overall sentiments - we need to sign some decent replacement players for this coming season, not just wait around until 2016\. Continually relying on youngsters to fill the void left by departing first graders is a huge gamble, as this club should've learned by now - some make the grade, but many don't.

I agree with you flip , we do require players for 2015 we are lacking players with experience , but **unfortunately i think we have left it to late and there isn't much out there now** , if anything there isn't any :unamused: .
I do expect us to get in the Market for our 2016 Campaign and sign some decent players if we don't then i would be worried.

I thought that too until, Parramatta signed Watmough and Takairangi, Manly signed Mateo and Mason, the Titans signed Josh Hoffman, the Cowboys signed Hannant and the Dragons have signed George Rose all in the last 2 weeks! The Sharks will most likely end up signing Ben Barba soon, as well. The players are (or at least were) there recently - our club is just incredibly inept in the player market. And please don't anyone tell me we don't have the cash - we have let a heap of players go with very little gain, there has to be cash available.

To me this Wests Tigers' unknown cap space issue sounds very strange indeed. Why are supporters being treated like mushrooms on this important issue?

You should learn to read English Col; its a huge advantage. I said " the worst loss of talent I recall since….." Did not compare the players we have just lost with those Wests lost.

Best of luck to Bodene, always liked the guy and he proved to be pretty valuable signing for the time he was here. Bit of a shame because he was one of our shining lights this year, but that's footy. Good luck at the Warriors and returning home mate.

If the player merry go round is a guide over the last week, you'd like to think we'll be the next side to announce a couple signings. Though with this club i wouldn't be holding my breath.

Probably a combination of this and star players not wanting to come to Wests Tigers.

This is why I try to never get excited when a marquee player comes off contract because we never get them.

Other than adam blair (you would call him a marquee signing when we got him) I dont recall tigers signing any star players.

Don't get me wrong we've signed plenty of good players that turned out great for us but my opinion is that star players just don't want to play for the tigers.

And the big question Marzie is why? They'll happily sign with perennial cellar dwellers like Cronulla, Gold Coast and even Parramatta in the 2 years they won the spoon, so why not us? The only club that has more trouble signing any decent players, other than WT, is Canberra and we all know why that is - it's a crap place to live!

They had agreed terms. Bodene was the one who brushed us. You can't blame WTs

 can't blame Wests Tigers…if you guys haven't worked out how Mayer operates by now You never will.

My god, some people just have it out for the club. You're not forced to support this club.

This has absolutely nothing to do with management. The guy wanted to leave for family reasons. End of.

Good luck Bodene.

That's alright to say that . But supporters have the right to expect better and when you struggle to see where that is coming from you ask questions and get annoyed

That alright Moh , you just keep accepting the unders the Tigers continually offer

What's more Irvine's been on the mark more often than not , so a semblance of respect would be nice

Perhaps if you don't like how we support the club you could go and support Cronulla , they would suit you to the ground

Go on, tell me how the Tigers could have done better to keep someone who wanted to live in a country where a large majority of his family are?

Yup, unders.

What you don't seem to understand is that every club has issues, and sure the majority have handled it better than the Tigers have in the past. But we're moving forward, with a promising group of staff. So let the season begin before you down the club.

Look unless we buy more experienced players I don't need to wait until the start of the season to understand what is going to happen

Have a look at our losses , two of our 4 more consistent players are leaving from 2014 we are losing over 700 games of NRL experience

Then look at our gains  seriously

Many coaches say the NRL improves 10 percent every season

Answer me this one question ??

How are we going to improve 10 % in 2015 ??

And even if we do improve 10% we will still finish bottom 6 sides

And before you mention our S&C , it will help minimally in 2015 but we won't see the true results until 2016

I hope I'm wrong , but if we run with the current roster we will struggle in my opinion again

We have at least 12-13 players with less than 50 NRL games experience

100% Flippedy I wish we knew why.

It is a very frustrating truth I have learned to accept.
