Boedene Is What We Need

When you see the forwards hit the line at speed with good effect you wonder what they've been trying to do the last few years. I rate Thompson and I'm glad he showed what he can do tonight. Potter obviously saw something he liked because he started after 3 weeks out when many didn't have him in the team.

Finally the horrible backrow combo of Blair, Anasta and Fulton is broken down 1 and we have a hell of a lot better pack. More aggression, more intent, more threat. Anasta stays in the halves or goes to reserves. Fulton will have to compete for his starting spot, I would be starting him from the bench. Thompson played with real aggression it was fantastic.

Even hearing those 3 names together makes me queasy. How could anyone not realise what a dodgy combo those 3 created. Glad we have worked it out Mr Potter.

Anasta is our man for the halves as is Bodene for our backrow.

This to me was the biggest concern for this season and the thing is there is no need for this to be a problem.

Pettybourne, Thompson, BMM, Bell, Blair (although he is way over paid for what he offers us) and add in some juniors and we have a good backrow that will provide plenty of impact.

Energetic tough player. Hope to see more of him.

Agree, he hit hard in defence and ran with purpose last night. We definitely need the likes of him in the backrow as we're simply outgunned with Anasta and Fulton playing there.

IMHO Tedesco has again shown why he is our 1st choice FB.
Lawrence had enough chances, we need more speed, so T Simona to replace Lawrence and Nafoaluma to left wing.

:sign:

How does Tedesco perform in the tackling department at fullback?

in his short stints at fullback during the game he missed no tackles.

Anasta and Fulton starting off together in the second row? What a silly decision to use such a lightweight non aggressive backrow. Fulton has his place as a reserve who can use use his greatest attribute, sustained tackling, when the side is beginning to tire.

All our rookies stepped up last night. It's obvious there are spots up for grabs and the hungrier more determined players will triumph. Not sure who pushed who, but Bodene had a blinder and Blair wasnt to shabby either, that said, he still handed out his quota of penalties. Blair always steps up against melbourne, wish he took that revengeful attitude each week against other team.

Bodene, if you're reading this, i hope enjoyed your spot last night, cos you should see yourself there week in week out off that performance - well done. As for the new haircuts, well, whatever works, and its better DCE effort!

i can't imagine what we would have done without those 40 yards.

Not sure what you have against Thompson but if you don't think he improved our back-row ten fold I must have been watching a different game.

40 yards is 40 yards.

not saying he was terrible, but the praise is so over the top.

and no,i don't think he improved our pack ten fold.

I think he provided linespeed and aggression in defence which we have been missing. It also was noticeable that line speed dropped off whenhe wasn't on the field

Well if it was Thompson that changed the whole forward pack attitude bring some more please!

I also thought he brought something good to the side, much more than just metres.

Together with Pettybourne the whole pack seemed to lift their aggression and it was great to see BMM really muscling up for a change - he looked very hungry last night!

Woods was great, young Jack had a dig and the young blokes ran hard.

Yep, bring some more please Boedene.

Stop looking at stats. They don't measure impact.

You don't think he made a difference?

Im not going over the top but he was good,,, Whether he can keep it up is another thing. But I would be leaving him in the starting side.

Sometimes teams lift when playing Premiership winning teams and that could of been the case last night with us , but then again the effort was great and so was Bodene let's see if we can back up the effort vs the Dragons.

Funny how perception don't always equal reality

Again I would of thought Thompson had at least 70 metres last night ,but Smeg and Hybrid are right

His agression in defence seem to help inspire our forwards and our line speed hasn't been that good since the Gibbs years

I can live with 40 metres if our defence is going to harden up and he will only improve with match fitness

I thought Thompson was awesome last night his aggression, presence, attack, defence just what we have missed and seem to bring the others along with him, I thought young Bucchannan had a good game also.
On that performance last night we would have beat the vast majority of the other teams bar the top 2 or 3 .
Hope we just didn't aim up against the premiers and drop off against the lower teams.
