OFFICIAL BOXING DISCUSSION

Looks like there's no end in sight for Mundine supporters (of which i WAS one) with news that after this fight he'll need surgery on a groin injury, then he'll fight Kariuki (who should beat Wood 2moro nite), so still no big names on the horizon. If he ever does fight a big name, he would have gone so far down hill that he'll be savagely ko'd.

I was a supporter as well. He has lost me completely.

Good thing they stopped it. Lewis wasn't much chop but if he landed one more clean bomb at the end of the fight Webb might've been seriously injured. He was absolutely legless with his head in the clouds.

Mundine getting on top of Medley atm.

You could see it in Choc's eyes in the post fight interview. He wished he had've taken that trip overseas a long time ago. He's doing it easy, cruising. Comfortably beating small fish that are totally out of his class. He's longing for a challenge. It'd make my day if he wen't out and made a fight with Pavlik at middleweight. I mean, he has enough clout with the WBA to make it happen.

The entire event last night typifies what is wrong with boxing in this ountry. The Webb fight looked a joke from the "highlight" footage.

The ontender final was an utter fare. Wood shouldered the other fellow around the ring, hit before being told to box on several oasions after linhes and just fought a rubbish style to get the win. Hell there was even a semi takedown in a boxing bout. No real suprise that in the long run a fellow who is trained by Hussein and Lewis got up here, the entire event was a joke.

The main event was just a mismath. ho boxing a guy up a division thatn he is used to fighting with short notice and still lacking any significant power. If he had fought at Medleys weight it may have been intruiging but as it stands it was a farce like we have come to expect from all Nasser promotions

Mundine really needs to start fighting some genuine topliners pretty fast.

Why - Mundine & Pacquiao are at the same level. Seriously just ask him.

Come now, he's fought what maybe 5 decent international standard boxers in his career and lost most of them. He's been treading water for years.

I think he's being sar-car-stic Yossarian lol

We all know that Mundine is talented but too gutless to face the real fighters in his divisions. Why should he really I suppose….he's making millions fighting easy beats.

Yeah I realised that afterwards but it was 1230 when I posted that… And yeah fair enough he's making cash but he can't have it both ways and make a claim to greatness.

Telegraph is reporting that Paul Briggs is making a comeback to take on Green. I thought Briggs had some problems with his nervous system, which was why he retired.

Yeh he did. It really effected him. He just couldnt get out the way of punches he would normally have no trouble with. He was getting cleaned up in sparring sessions by guys he would normally beat with one hand. He had to retire. But his problems have now been fixed and he's working quite well from what ive heard. It will be tough for him to come back, but if he gets super fit, his power and toughness will see him win more than he loses.

Went to the Wharfies fight night at Souths Juniors last night. Awesome night. Place was packed and plenty of money made for charity. My cousins boyfriend had his first fight against a guy who had some experience and iced him with a left hook in the third round. It was a classic one punch KO, it was awesome.

Mosley/Mayweather coming soon, anybody else excited? I think I'm more excited for this than the Pacquiao fight which was sunk. Mostly because I'm a big fan of Sugar Shane. Damn, anybody hear Money on 24/7 the other night? "I'm better than Muhammad Ali, I'm better than Sugar Ray Robinson".. and he truly believes it too. I think though, in their prime at welterweight, Oscar, Sweet Pea, Trinidad, Pacquiao and Mosley all would have dispatched him.

U think Danos? While i find Mayweather a boring fighter, his skill is unmatched in my opinion. However, if there was a guy out there with the style to beat him its Mosley. With Floyd out of the ring so long, i think Mosley will get him and that would be great. Like u, i love Sugar Shane.

Who u think Green should fight next?

and while we at it, who would u choose for Mundines next opponant?

The best thing for both Mundine & Green, is to forget about each other. A rematch would be a big step back for both of them, Green keeps saying the public want to see it, me, nah, I'd much rather they left our shores and made a name for themselves outside of australia.

For Mundine, he's too old to be going down weight divisions, he should just focus on Super Middleweight.. pursue Pavlik, Bute, Martinez or Sturm. And for god sakes stay overseas, don't come back home and fly in Manfredo or Miranda or some other middle of the pack fighter. Pursue a big name, somebody with credibility.

And Green, well, he's gotta do the same. Fight Dawson, Tarver, Pascal, Branco etc. Offer Hopkins a 90/10 purse split to get into the ring, do it on his home turf. Give him everything he wants. Bill it as the man who beat Roy in 122 seconds vs the man who beat Roy in 2160 seconds. If he backs off then, he's an absolute coward..and Green will have the bragging rights.

Well, Mayweather once again proved what a freak he his. This guy is truly an all time great. What a fighter. If he fights Pacman in the next 6 months he'll knock him out and cement his place in history along side the likes of Ali.
