I did pay and it was worth the money to be there.
Boxing is like that. I have been to several fights where the main event was shorter than this one.
The undercard was of a pretty decent quality though

For next year I really hope the Pacquiao v Mayweather possibility comes together.
Green could get another tough fight against Chad Dawson if Hopkins decides to shift up a division which is a serious possibility

It was a weird feeling at the fight. When Danny dropped him, everyone stood up and screamed for him to finish Roy, and when he did evreyone went off, but about 30 seconds later, the realisation hit everyone that we just got screwed. We all came to see the best fighter since Ali (IMO), and we didnt get to see him. Then everyone started asking "was it stopped early etc etc", and at the time i thought it was. But looking twice at the replay, Roy was done.
It was a great night overall. Sure, it would have been great to see more of the main event, but the way i look at it is, its a heap better Roy being ko'd than Danny being knocked out in the 1st. Roy still remains my fave all time fighter, but we now have an exciting wait to see if Green can get some big fights, like Bernard.
Cant wait to see Tomlinson fight again too. He and Lenny Zap look to be our best young prospects.
Danny Green hit Roy Jones with a well timed hard overhand right to Jones temple,sending Jones to the floor,Jones the great fighter and Champion got up to early and was still fuzzy.Maybe at this point he should have taken an 8 count, clear his head and continue on until round 1 finished.Didn't happen and the rest is history.Roy Jones whats next reirement,maybe but I still think there are still some good fights left in him.Danny Green looked in super condition did his job like a tradesman and finished Roy Jones early.So will Danny look towards the WBA/WBC/IBF Cruiserweight titles???.On last nights performance could win all 3.He certainly look better at this weight than he did against Mundine.
So could they meet again at the higher weight level (cruiserweight).A different result is on the cards if they do.
Anyway I'm looking towards WBA/WBC/IBF Titles….Go Danny.........

Geo, its hard to gauge really. Most Americans still dismiss Green from what ive read around the world today. My take on Danny is this:
He is a better fighter now than when he fought Beyer and Mundine. He was so one dimensional it wasnt funny, but now he is throwing punches from different angles and using his feet more. People say he lost to Mundine because of the weight drain, i think thats a load of crap. Green had been fighting at that weight his whole career, so to use that as an excuse all of a sudden doesnt wash with me. It was just that at that time Mundine was a better fighter than Green, simple. But i think it may be different if the two met now.
Where does Danny sit on the world stage? He's always been world class. With his toughness and power, he could always hold his own against anyone, but now he's fighting smarter, it takes him up another level. I wouldnt put him at the top of the world just yet, i think that judgment is to be made after his next fight (if its a big name). He holds the IBO World title, thats what i call a "minor" title. I dont consider him a current world champ until he hold the WBA, WBC or IBF belt.
This is very exciting for aussie boxing as we have a tough bastard in a position to take on the best. Its a shame Danny is 36\. But if he can nail a couple of big names over the next 18 months, that would elevate him to Australian boxing greatness.
When judging a fighter, i try to imagine if that fighter would have been a World Champ if there was just one title. All these alphabet titles have ruined the sport. In my eyes, Danny wouldnt have yet been a champ. If he beats Adamek and Hopkins, well, that would change everything.
To beat Roy after Roy's great performance over Jeff Lacy is a special feat, but lets not kid ourselves, prime 4 prime, Roy eats Danny alive. The thing is Jones is a reflex fighter, and its shown over the years that those fighters cant fight for as long as the "danny green" type fighters. Usually their demise if very fast. Look at Mundine, he had the world at his feat then bang, he's lost it. He is no where near the fighter he was.
If Danny fights Hopkins next, i'd be tipping Hopkins. But hey, i tipped Jones too.

Danny Green is someone the country can be proud of, an exceptional athlete and from all accounts a top bloke, but in his prime Jones is on another level and will be remembered as one of the true greats, Green will have to be content with ending the career of one of the true greats of his sport.
Good to see Roys career end this way for mine….flashy boxers arent fighters - merely entertainers ala WWE
Last night Danny was a real fighter and he would have killed Jones if it wasnt for the official. The atmosphere was really good with the exception of John Williamson popping up and singing his boring songs every half hour.
Tomlinson looked very capable as well.
Once again though, the main event was pathetic....a recurring theme in boxing through all divisions.

Anthony Mundine is prepared to take on giant-slaying compatriot Danny Green in a big-money re-match - only problem is Green is the one now calling the shots following his first-round humbling of superstar Roy Jones Jnr on Wednesday night.
The trash-talking Mundine beat Green on points in 2006 in their only encounter, but now appears blissfully ignorant of his new standing in Australian boxing.
Mundine will fight little-known Sydneysider Robert Medley for the IBO junior middleweight title next month, but used a press conference on Friday to sing a familiar tune.
"Throw some numbers at me," Mundine told reporters when asked if a re-match with Green was on the cards.
But with Green eyeing a showdown with American Bernard Hopkins, the chances of he and Mundine getting it on appear slim - at least in the short term.
Green labelled Mundine, who was in Jones Jnr's corner on Wednesday night, a 'pissant'.
He compared fighting Jones Jnr to Mundine as going from a 'killer whale to a flathead'.
Mundine countered: "Man, if I'm a pissant, he's a cracker ant."
"You either have to be deaf, dumb or blind (not) to notice he was my whipping boy two or three years ago."
"He knows what happened. People are blessed with their ears. People are blessed with their eyes, people are blessed with their intelligence."

Lets be realistic though. Mundine has gone down a division to duck Geale as the scoring was deemed suspect enough in their first encounter that a mandator rematch was ordered.
Anthony can talk about chasing history down the divisions but he will be stripped for not taking the rematch.
Anthony, through his own actions, has made himself reduntant on the boxing landscape in this country. As KS said he had his chance to go to the USA and chase big fights and true respect but baulked at it.
As for tattooing Green the first time, well Anthony was the superior tactition that night and did enough to steal the rounds but his punches are terribly weak for his division and he does have somewhat of a galss jaw.
Green chased the big name and now, for the time being at least, Mundine is irrelevant and better pay days and fights lay elsewhere for Green. Mundine is fighting a coal miner instead

I'll have to get clarification on that weight division Smeg. I find it hard to believe Mundine will fight at Junior middle. I know Medley fights at that weight, but Mundine has only been able to officially make Middleweight a couple of times, i think its impossible for him to make Jnr Middle.
For me, i dont have any interest in a Green Mundine fight. I think prime for prime Mundine is a better boxer than Green, but due to Mundines lack of conviction, Green will remembered as the greater fighter.
For me, im happy for Green to fight Hopkins, Adamek or Dawson.
And for Mundine, Pavlik or sturm and if he has indeed managed to go down to jnr middle, he must take on Paul Williams

The guys I have been talking to about this fight have been positive it is at Light Middleweight but I have not checked it out myself. There is much discussion on Mundines lack of power at Middleweight let alone going down again

This comes to your question. I went to the bout as I had a considerable investment in a Green KO or TKO. I went to watch a mouthy flashy boxer get demolished by a tough nut. I saw Calzaghe do it last year and knew it was on again.
I like the guys that go forward and torment their opp. Kostya was a classic example. I like the no nonsnse brawlers, who have also the skills and technical knowledge to back up the brawn.
I hate the showponies…..
As for John Williamson, each to their own mate, just because I find his tunes drab and uninspired doesnt make me un Australian.
For the record, I havnt totally given up on boxing yet....not while Manny Pacquiao is still around.

Your comments in the above post are fair enough, they are very different from saying flashy boxers are like WWE, which is what i took exception to.
U know the difference between a fighter who can have a career not being hit like Roy and Floyd and a brawler? The flashy guys have the talent to do it. Doesnt make them any less tough, just more talented.
