Antonio Tarver has lauded Danny Green's massive heart and hands but the Australian camp isn't buying his declaration the champion will start favourite in their July 20 world title fight.

Tarver, a multi-world title winning light heavyweight, arrived in Australia on Tuesday for a tour to promote his challenge to IBO cruiserweight champion Green at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

The 42-year-old American said he was looking for an inside the distance win as he didn't see himself 'rasslin' the younger Green for 12 rounds.

Asked what was Green's greatest attribute Tarver said: "he has a massive heart, a very, very determined fighter."

Tarver was impressed with the most important part of Green's armoury, the champion's hands.

"The first thing I told my trainer, those set of hands don't even look like they belong on his body, he has some massive hands, that's why I feel he is a knockout puncher," Tarver said.

Green was also complimentary after his first close-up look at Tarver, describing the taller challenger as physically imposing.

"He's the biggest physical specimen I've faced and he's probably the best skilled fighter and probably the best puncher I've faced," Green said.

"In terms of difficulty this guy ticks all the boxes."

Asked who should be considered favourite Tarver said: "he has the title, I'm coming to his backyard, he deserves to be the favourite,

"I love being the underdog anyway, I'm an underdog at heart, the real true Rocky story."

Bookies appear to be rating Green the favourite, but his trainer Angelo Hyder said it was just talk on Tarver's part.

"It's a 50-50 fight, I don't take us as favourite by any means," Hyder said.

Green said a win over Tarver in addition to his first round stoppage of Roy Jones Jr would solidify his boxing legacy, not just in Australia but around the world.

"It will be two future Hall of Famers that I have defeated," Green said.

"If I can defeat Antonio Tarver it's going to make me very, very proud and very satisfied."

Green, who is dedicating the fight to recently deceased Australian boxing legend Lionel Rose, will spar American Jason Robinson, a recent contender for the WBC cruiserweight crown.

Tarver said he would spar with Akinyemi 'AK47' Laleye, who appeared in the American Contender reality show and possibly BJ Flores, Green's most recent victim.

It will be Tarver's first professional fight overseas.

"I think it's sexy to go abroad and fight in your opponents' home town," Tarver said.

Did anyone watch the Green vs Tarver fight ?

Was it completely one sided ?

Where does Green rate now ?

I didn't watch it but a mate did . His rating was he didn't know if Rocky put up a better effort or Danny Grenn

Yeah I saw it, Green was out of his class unfortunately…Tarver belted him into submission.

Danny appologised to the crowd which was unnecessary as he had a go but Tarver was far too good on the night.

Green didn't win a single round, he is straight up b1!$&#* made and should retire now.
No people clapping and shouting like after the Roy Jones fight, just a room of silence.
He got bashed by a 42 year old actor, Tarver ruined him with ease.

Thanks Stryker.

How high do you rate him. I have always liked him but I don't think he is as good as what his camp makes out. A lot bigger than Mundine and not as good.

Mundine on the other hand has wasted his talent.

Completly agree, I dont mind Green as a person but hes hyped up by the media as being the next Mike Tyson or something. Mundine has the quick hands and agility to be quality but he focuses far to much on mouthing off than the fights themselves. He could take a leaf out of the book of the quailty fighter he (i use this next word uneasily) beat, Daniel Geale, and spend a bit more time focusing on fighting than playing up to the media and getting drawn into stupid fights like the one with Garth Wood

I didnt see it but i expected Marquez to win. How did the fight pan out Danos?

Manny was too cautious and apprehensive, he never pressed the fight, Marquez was countering beautifully and getting off first.. Pacquiao struggled with Marquez's caginess, he looked so frustrated.. Juan's straight right hand found a home consistently, he hit Manny with a lot of lead right hands, I was surprised at how quick Marquez was at Welterweight. First few rounds could have gone either was a suppose, but Marquez definitively won all the middle rounds.. and when things heated up and they slugged it out in close I thought Juan Manuel got the best of those exchanges too.

I guess seeing as Manny was the defending champion the judges gave him the benefit of the doubt, but I thought Marquez did enough to win the fight.. although they weren't really fighting for the title, it was for pride and legacy more than anything else. Manny said after the fight that he believed he definitely won, but his expression between rounds and specifically his lack of animation when the 12th round bell rang out tell a different story, I don't think he expected to win it.

It also highlighted how in a clash of styles Mayweather would come out on top against Pacquiao.. seeing as he is a far better defensive fighter and counter puncher than Marquez.

Undercard was mixed. A couple of terrific fights kicked things off. A young Mexican fighter got an upset victory over his more fancied opponent, an undefeated Puerto Rican. It was pretty fast and furious, as you would expect from two Latino featherweights. Interestingly the Mexican fighter was the nephew of a fighter who nearly died in the ring against Darchinyan a few years back.

Second fight was sensational. Prescott fought Mike Alvarado. Prescott who knocked out Amir Khan a few years back was a big step up for Alvarado and in the 4th round in a brutal exchange Alvarado's face practically exploded with a nasty cut over his left eye, what looked like a broken nose and the worst cut lip I've ever seen. He fought on though, his cornermen did a great job to stymie the flow of blood. It was a great fight with a lot of eb and flow and some great in-fighting from both guys. Alvarado sensationally got a TKO in the 10th a final round, knocking Prescott down, who rose to his feet, and then pouring on the assault until the ref called it to an end when Prescott was literally out on his feet and showing little resistance. Close-ups at the end of the bout showed just how bad that cut lip was, truly nasty stuff. Later in the telecast the judges scorecards revealed that Alvarado was well behind going into the last round.

Tim Bradley vs. Joel Casamayor was a real come down from the previous fight. Joel looked well and truly past it.. he spend most of the fight trying to tie Bradley up and was holding more than throwing punches. Bradley dropped him twice in the middle rounds. He was put down again in the 8th before his corner threw in the towel.

Overall, fightcard was pretty good. Could have had a couple more undercard fights though. Charging $40 for just four bouts is a bit cheeky. There were four other fights today but I guess Main Event can't start beaming in pictures until HBO start their telecast, so whatevs.

Here we go

Mundine has supposedly signed to fight Sugar Shane Mosley

Lets hope that Mosley can fix Mundine up once and for all if this is true

Satali Tevi-Fuimoano through to the final round, fighting the Russian for gold

When's the final Ink?

No doubt he'll be the underdog fighting against a boxer that's probs had a stack more amateur fights than Satali but if he can pull off the victory, he will be the first Aussie boxer to win a gold. Regardless if he wins or not, it's a massive achievement to reach the final

He won
Gold & a new world champ to Australia

Not sure on the details of the fight…big congrats to Satali & his coach Joel Keegan from Umina PCYC

Ink , if he turns pro what weight class do you expect he will settle at ??

I'm guessing if he maintains that weight class he will be a middle weight or does he struggle to make weights at that level ??

I've only seen pictures of him in my local paper but he looks a real athlete. I'm guessing if he's 75 kegs now he's going to put a fair bit more before he stops growing. Goes to the local HS down the road from me. Hopefully he stays out of trouble.

Might be tempted to turn pro now & start earning some coin after winning our first ever gold medal @ the world champs. But only being 16/17 hopefully he's more tempted to stay a amateur & stick around until the Olympics in 2016 & try to become our first boxer to win a gold medal at the Olympics.
