BREAKING - MARSHALL LEAVING

Tauber has put Benji into a corner he may never get out of. As I have said good for the club, but Iam starting to think Benji has made a massive mistake that was forced on him by bad management or a massive ego.Either way he may get some short term gain, but I get the feeling it will be "Benji who" in a few years.

Saw Tauber interviewed on Fox Sports today. Gee he rubbed me the wrong way.

I'm sick of this whole "Benji was wrong done by", "he was so loyal to the club and they've turned their back on him", 'they agreed to a handshake deal with Humphreys that they're not honouring", "the NRL is doing nothing".

Let me get some facts straight.

- The club stuck with Marshall through four season-ending injuries. We easily could have turfed him out after the second or third.
- I find it extremely hypocritical how Tauber can criticise the club for not honouring a handshake agreement. Need I remind you of how you handled your other client Moltzen with the Dragons shimozzle?
- The NRL and club are doing nothing to keep him? Hello? He already had another TWO seasons on his contract and they offered him $750k a year which would put him amongst the highest paid in the game.

Open your eyes you gimp

Tauber made me do something I hate doing. He made myself agree with Paul Kents response to his words.

That in itself is a worry

For years Tauber has played the Rugby Union card in negotiations.

It seems this time the club called their bluff and now he wants to cry about the NRL not helping out. What a cry baby.

Benji is a far better person then his representations actions have painted him to be.

That is the crying shame of it all

He's a snake
He is worthy of repping players like Moltzen, not a name like Marshall.
His behaviour during Moltzs Saints drama and Benjis Maccas incident were very very poor.

I think Benji has been very ill advised if this isnt his decision (Tahs) as it seems…..I think he will be a massive flop, imo the best decision for HIM was to accept whatever WTs offered....whats best for Benji, the club...nd Tauber are three differnet thing and I think Benji will draw the short straw th\e way things are playing out....he might get the $$$$ but he'll be forgotten very soon.

I'll miss him....I wont miss the regular cock ups tho

But I was thinking driving home from work even immortals are human, and Im old enough to remember one immortal having a real shocker in his last game, Langlands..

All the best Benji

Thanks

SPOT ON.

Tauber sounds like a goose doesn't he. Benji has been offered a great deal. I think he should take it but hey its his choice.

Great player that will be missed but his form hasn't been great.

Spot on smeg.

Kent's summation is pretty accurate I think. Such a shame that its come to this between Benji and the Tigers but after hearing what the revised offer was, my sympathy for Benji has dried up.

Sad.

I'm just listening to that and Kent has it basically correct. Benji is asking for way too much and he might not get what he thinks he is worth.

I think that this might work out better for us in the long run.

Listening to Tauber,I can now comprehend why & how Benji is so delusional about his perceived self worth,& expected competition for his services.
They are both feeding off each others BS!
Benji has probably spat his dummy because Robbie is being paid slitely more than the generous offer of $750pa to him,& tauber is fuelling the fire.
Stand by previous comments that Waratahs will have zero interest in Benji other than a PR exercise similiar to what Folou was at GWS,except there wont be same $$ floating around in NSWRU as theyve bought a bunch of backs for next season,& rolling over Izzy wont be cheap. He wont get near the top 15,so a huge problem to manage that ego which is the very last thing Waratahs need
Thinks its Jap rugby or nothing,so its origato,& sayonara Benji

Proud to say I have been a member of the Benji Marshall hate club since 2008\. It's a great day. Here's to the last of the deadwood from 2005 gone!!!! Here's to never having to watch the most overrated Rugby league player to ever lace on a boot. (maybe Ross Conlon was just as overrated?)

Here's to a bright and prosperous future for Wests Tigers!!!!!

3 cheers to you!!!
Do you want your medal now or are you still waiting to grow a chest to pin it on?
This is an embarrassing post shane, pull your head in.

Not looking for a medal nor am I pulling my head in Stryker. Not when it comes to Marshall. I've never been a big fan and Im allowed to show my joy. And I will. Still over the moon 18 hrs later. I'm even thinking about buying a membership next year.

the hell? I'm fine with him leaving as i think his time is over but he had an amazing 2 years in 2010 and 11\. he won the GOLDEN BOOT for gods sake. And you're ignoring him and casting his name aside? He was a fantastic player for many years, overcame so many obstacles in his injuries to come out of it with a world cup victory, 4 nations, premiership and golden boot….

Name another player who's playing now who's done that. Hint: you cant.

Dear Members,

Benji Marshall last night requested a release from the remaining two years of his Wests Tigers contract.

We are surprised and disappointed that Benji has made this decision, but we accept and respect the decision that he has made.

We believe as a Club we made a fair and reasonable offer to upgrade Benji's contract, an offer which was not insignificant and one which we believed he would accept.

Wests Tigers and the NRL have worked over time to ensure Benji remained with the Club and in the game of Rugby League.

Benji and his manager have today stated that this decision is not about money.

Benji has given over a decade of loyal service to the Club and was instrumental in building the Wests Tigers and delivering our maiden premiership.

We must now respect his decision to move on with his career and do what he feels is best for himself and for his family.

As a Club, we now have the opportunity to re-sign and build our future around a genuinely exciting core of talented young players.

The likes of Luke Brooks, Mitchell Moses, Marika Koroibete, David Nofoaluma, Tim Simona and Kyle Lovett, amongst a host of other highly skilled youngsters are the future of this Club.

This Club has the potential to be a top four side year-in, year-out. We are putting in place the systems necessary to ensure this happens.

While we would have loved Benji Marshall to be a part of that process, it now appears this will not be the case and we need to move forward together, as a Club.

Although many of you are disappointed today, I encourage you to remain positive and put your faith in this Club that we love.

We need our Members to remain committed and loyal as we work to ensure we build the successful Club you deserve.

There are bright days ahead for the Wests Tigers and we are working not only to ensure we claim our second Premiership but also that we lay the foundations for a consistently successful Club.

We hope you will join us in celebrating Benji Marshall's 200th match for the Club when we take on South Sydney at Allianz Stadium in Round 25.

This will be a chance to acknowledge the wonderful legacy Benji leaves this Club with and a chance to remember the special moments he provided.

I thank you for your continued support. Membership is now the lifeblood of NRL clubs and without you, we cannot become the Club we want to become.

We hope to see you at Leichhardt Oval on Friday night as we look to continue our unbeaten record at the ground in 2013 when we take on the Warriors.

Former Wallaby Greg Martin has labelled Benji Marshall "old, no good, too fat and a spoilt brat,'' the former Australian fullback also said. "I haven't seen him make a break this year. He makes Quade Cooper look like Trevor Gillmeister in defence

A pretty disgraceful attack in my opinion. Benji tore sides apart at his best, still shows the odd bit of brilliance and shits all over anything Greg Martin could ever produce. If you want to analyse it Greg, leave out the personal attacks

Benji might have been loyal to us, but I'm sure he was looked after in the early years with his glass shoulders.

This is business. Like him or hate him, he had kids involved, he had sponsors coming to the club and he helped the clubs profile.

Should he leave, I wish him well, thank him for his service and move on. Like every other player that thinks the game will collapse without their involvement, nothing will change. For every 'superstar' that comes along, there are 10 young ones fighting for the spot, exactly as he did when he started, and those that went before him..etc etc.

- As for the haters like Greg 'Marto' Martin…...I'm not sure his comments should hold too much weight.
- As for Benji's manager whinging and whining about professionalism and loyalty in contract dealings, that would be like taking criticism from Hitler about racial cleansing.

I say well done to Greg Martin for calling it EXACTLY as it is.

I love Benj and everything he has done for the club but CLEARLY Benji ( and Tauber) is using union as a pawn in this sad spectacle. Whilst I appreciate the champion that Benji has been and I thank him for that, I think this is the best for both parties.

If I was a died in the wool Rah Rah like Martin is, I would be filthy that an old, out of form leaguie is trying this on.

Also saw this video and had a little chuckle at the Tah's using Benji as leverage in their negotiations with Folau & Beale. What goes around Benji & Tauper comes around.
