Breaking news: HBG takeover

This is the whole problem with the board it needs to be all Wests Tigers people, if HBG were truly all about Wests Tigers they shouldn't have a problem with it, yeah right good luck with that.
Yeah, Joel Caine mentioned it yesterday. Anyone over 50 needs to be dismissed. Move on from the “old days”

You can honour your history without it being a noose around your neck.

I think another problem of theirs is they don't like the idea of Cambo being the future of the Wests Tigers..

Ashfield doesn't like Cambo so this may be another reason why they are trying to ruin the Wests Tigers.

Doesn't that speak volumes for HBG, can't even get along with another 'Wests' area, the one they established?

G'day Mikey, good to hear from you as I always respect and enjoy reading your posts and watching your videos.
But there are one or two or three maybe even 4 posters on here I wouldn't give you two and tuppence for.

If you read all of the posts from @Vicious as I did, I think you will find he was very fair to both sides of the argument and, he articulated his thoughts really well and handled the situation really well considering he was under extreme pressure from various posters 'drowning him' with repetitive questioning.... and extreme insults.
From memory, I don't recall any previous stand-out pro HBG posts from him, and I definitely did not get the impression he was stirring the....

The only mistake he made [if you can call it that] was getting sucked in to a whirlpool of angry posters who were only too willing to take their frustration out on 'him'.
I've been the recipient of that a couple of times for defending the Magpies side of the JV when there are not many of us on here to do that, and I won't get sucked in again.

Take care when you're out there on two wheels, you may get run off the road by some kid on an electric scooter.
No problem with the way you see it BZN but I see it differently. Maybe the emotion is riding high here but it seems argument for argument's sake to me.

Chris's comments are on point for the most part, but the word factions keeps coming up. How can it be factional? The board reps are independent and only met each other 11 months ago for the first time.

Has nothing to do with that.
The factions arnt Balmain v magpies . They’re 1 club vs propping up the old clubs . Ie. the club and its forward thinking backers want the club to rebrand across all grades as wests tigers , and basically honour our traditions on special days .
The wests faction want the wests put forward at all time . They want the media to refer to the club as wests tigers, they want the jerseys to be wests , they want wests to be the first and last thing you think of when you think of this club.
My guess is they look at what happened with the other 2 mergers , and how 1 club swallowed the other , and kept everything as a slight variation of their original if at all in manly case , and want the same thing to happen here . The difference is … all the branding is in the tiger . Saints have a great name that makes you think knights and dragons and war etc. the value is in the St George as much as the dragon . Manly it’s very much the same thing , the value is in the area itself and the name . You could easily call them the Orcas and I don’t think too many people would lose thier mind for too long about it .
Wests as a brand is associated with battling . With being a fibro . Working hard .. mixing it with these big boys from the other side of town . It simply doesn’t resonate . Especially if you didn’t come from that background, or look at it as this thing to be proud of ( that’s how I think . I came from nothing as much as anyone ) . This does not resonate with an 8 year old boy wanting to get his face painted . It resonates with adult men , and to a lesser degree women . But even this is limited as I just said . The tiger 🐯 is very obviously a brand that’s easy to get behind . I mean if wests had changed their branding to something like a pit bull or something would we even be having this debate . I dunno … and by the way when people talk about the magpie .. it also for whatever reason has an association with battlers and coming from the mean streets and getting on top . See both Collingwood , port Adelaide and wests . The same culture for all 3 clubs . That’s not a coincidence .

Sorry but could you explain what you mean by “anyone over 50 needs to be dismissed”.

This is 💯 the truth . These guys never transitioned to Cambo , let alone to wests tigers . It’s sad . Because these guys are 70 plus and even that was almost 40 years ago. They’ve spent almost as much time supporting a team who doesn’t play in Ashfield and lidcombe as much as they have.

Replaced by someone with younger , fresher ideas . Was there at the end for these clubs , but young enough where they don’t look at those days “as the good old days , we should get back to” . Which is the way you view the world at a certain age .

However most logical people understand everyone looks at things differently and respects other peoples right to reserve judgement until there is concrete evidence and not believe they have the right to be critical and abusive to people who are not willing to agree with them.
Most logiccal people understand that it's not possible to get decisions on a board passed without the board members being present aka the representatives from the HBG.. but let's keep ignoring that.

To avoid these issues caused by an obvious conflict of interest, The HBG / WT boards should be made up of people with no attachment to Balmain or WSM as Caine mentioned yesterday there’s plenty of worthy candidates in that age bracket.

I’d make an exception for Richardson (as CEO) because of his track record, but with a succession plan in place.

perhaps not on age
But one pre requisite you should not have played for western suburbs magpies or Balmain Tigers or been on board of either to qualify on HBG / Wests Tigers board

There
A the former Mariners ceo running operations in c-town for us . I always viewed his appointment as the logical succession plan to Richo . Shaun Mielekamp

I don’t know why there are so many derogatory references to age in this thread. Age has little to do with it. A 35 year old could have followed Wests or Balmain pre-merger. Does that mean that we should disregard the opinion of all over 35s?
I’m 74 and I reckon just about all over 70s on this forum do not support HBG’s actions this week. That includes old Magpies and Tigers.

This is why I think it's important that after this latest drama the cord has to be finally cut from HBG.
With hopefully action taken from the NRL, gaming commission and more ex-players protesting their disapproval one can only hope it's curtains for that mob.
