PLAYERS OUT

Mitch Brown - NRL
Geoff Daniella - Pectorial - season
Al Schirnack - Foot
**Mark Flanagan - NRL**Aaron Woods - NRL
Joe Ulibau - NYC
**Sean Meaney - NRL**

Yeah.

Akeripa to play his first game since the trials.

Wouldn't suprise me if Meaney and Flanagan get the extended squad, zero game time treatment

How many games of Premier League has Faleula Finau played? How has he gone against the bigger boys?

4 or 5 I believe.

I haven't been to alot of games but what I have seen he has done very well

Thanks Smeg. I was concerned when I was not seeing his name for NYC of late. Makes sense now.

There's no doubt he is a quality finisher, and he's done that brilliantly in State Cup, but it has also accentuated some defensive lapses he can have, as well as some immaturity. There was one particular occasion on the weekend where he did very well to get free, then Meaney set himself up on the outside for a 2 on 1, only for Finau to attempt a reverse flick which Meaney had no idea about, where a simple pass was on for a try. Its only little things like this which are limiting him at the moment, but I think Koritobe is ahead of him now. I also think pairing Meaney (who's had little experience in the centres) next to him hasn't helped him defensively, but that is the situation BRET are in at the moment.

How has eshman been playing? He was a very talented footballer but too thin for 1st grade when he got his chance.

I would rather see mullaney over meany in the nrl squad. Good to see akeripa back and i hope he strings some games together.

Side changes are in

Roquica to NYC bringing Justin Smith to the bench

Jets add Mose Masoe and Ryan Verlinden to the side

The Jets are the first team onto the field and they take their positions up for the kick-off. The Jets will be attacking the northern end of Leichhardt Oval in the first half.

**2nd Minute**: Both sides have completed their first sets of six with the early field position going to the Tigers courtesy of a strong defensive set.

**5th Minute:** Off the back of an offside penalty against the Jets, the Tigers score a TRY as Nathan Waters and Rhys Jack combine. Waters' deft chip is taken by Jack who scores under the sticks. Mullaney converts and it is 6-0 Tigers.

**8th Minute:** The Tigers force another set of six off a brilliant kick from George Ndaira from dummy half. On the ensuing set of six Mose Masoe gives a penalty away and the Tigers have a full set on the Jets' line.

**11th Minute:** Back to back penalties now to the Jets have them tapping the ball on the Tigers' 40m line with a full set up their sleeves.

**15th Minute:** The broken field specialist strikes again! TRY Jake Mullaney goes in for the Tigers out wide. Sam Latu rushes up in defence for the Jets and Mullaney finds a gap on the inside and make the Jets pay for some more ill discipline. Mullaney misses his conversion attempt. 10-0 Tigers.

**24th Minute:** Penalty number 4000 awarded to Newtown for another ruck infringement. The Jets need to convert their good field position here.

**25th Minute:** And the Jets do just that. Blake Lazarus slices through some pretty flimsy Tigers defence and scores a MEAT PIE just to the left of the posts. Brett Lane can't convert. Tigers 10-4.

**35th Minute:** Another ruck penalty, this time against the Tigers, put the Jets inside the Tigers' half on tackle 2.

**36th Minute:** TRY Blake Lazarus grabs a double after he slices the Tigers defence open. He must have spiders on him today. Lane misses the conversion so it is Tigers 10 leading Jets 8.

Both teams back on the field and we are ready for kick off in the second half folks!

**42nd Minute:** Plenty of feeling in this one folks. Two aggressive defensive sets from the Jets forces two Balmain mistakes and the Jets make them pay with a TRY to Isaac Maliota under the sticks. Brett Lane converts and it is 14-10 with the Jets in front.

**54th Minute:** TRY to Scotty Jones and a conversion to Brett Lane extends the Jets lead to 10\. Jones just burrows over from short range.

**57th Minute:** Jets defence holds firm as the Tigers pepper their line. Keith Eshman is dragged over the dead ball line as he desperately tries to get the ball down. Bit of a mele ensues from the next set as Brad Barrett takes offence to a tackle from Schirnack.

I was hoping somebody could explain why "Lolly Legs:2" (then 4 and finally 6) ended up on the scoreboard after a few Newtown tries? I certainly had a good day out at Leichhardt at both the NSW Cup and the Junior Development games beforehand.

the scoreboard guy always does that at the balmain ryde eastwood games  . the bre fans yell out "lollylegs" to make the opponent goal kicker miss. if he misses its supposedly because of the "lolly legs" chants, so the guy in the scoreboard gives the points to those yelling out "lollylegs"

Moors was the tigers best yesterday and looks a class above State cup - although have concerns about some of the offloads which work in state cup but probably would see a handover in the nrl. But he made good meters, broke through the line or at least the first tackler on most runs, was good in defence and just generally too good for State Cup.

Other then him though most of Balmain players confirmed they belong in state cup which is not too say thats a bad thing just not NRL players. Nadira did some good things and would be a handy replacement for Farah if he was out. Mullaney isn't bad but not NRL standard and from what we heard yesterday has been told he can look elsewhere next year and not a bad thing to be honest - too small, weak in defense and just not that brilliant to be honest.

Other then those I think Akerpira will be better for his first game back, Eshamn has potential and Hyland was better then I thought he would be and probably could take the fulton role in NRL
