Some interesting signs here with Tagive and Miller being the only under 20's players to earn a start. Very strong bench too.

Looking at this squad, I think we could see the following players get a call up to play in the FG trial:

Mullaney, Latu, Clarke, Meaney, Miller, Schirnack, Davis, Akeripa, Farlow and either Hyland or Parata.

jeeeezus what a side!

That backline is a killer and could probably drop off a few NRL teams

totes excited

Great to see BRET shopping well in the off season and rebuilding their squad after losing so many gun players at the end of last year. Hopefully the current WORLD champions can take out the premiership this year too!! Can't wait 'til they face Wests this year and smash them again for a clean sweep like last year.

Depth certainly does not appear to be an issue CT. They should be there at the business end of the season.

not only is it a disgrace that bret gets all of the wt contracted players but now also the best players from wests magpies like akeripa, pearn, davis. its going to make it very hard for wests magpies to compete. who ever ok'ed this should be ashamed of themselves

No one forced the players from Wests to play for Balmain this year. Wests made their own bed in regards to this situation.

They basically are forced because when Sheens tells them that he wants them to play for BRET then they aren't going to say no are they otherwise he wont pick them for 1st grade.

How many of them were picked in FG last year? They are not forced, they are offered contracts, it's up to the player to weigh up the pros/cons/money/opportunity etc.

Exactly.it is just like Holden buying the best Ford drivers every year, well lets hope the Maggies do a Ford and beat them home again.

It doesn't matter how many of them were picked in 1st grade last year. They might feel that they have a chance this year. You can't blame me for feeling the way that I do. I bet if it was the other way around alot of BRET fans would be singing a different tune.

Willow you are living in a dream world. They were told to play for BRET as the Fonz wants all top 25 in one team and he hates Wests. Wake up to yourself. Balmain do not have 2 cents to rub together. It's not money it's blackmail. Those guys are on Wests Tigers money anyway. ITS A SICKENING DISGRACE ABD THE SOONER THE FONZ LEAVES WESTS TIGERS THE BETTER.

No Bug, I live in the real world, where things change and evolve, as they have in the case for the Wests Tigers, BRET and Wests playing roster for this year.

I support the Wests Tigers and am relatively impartial to Wests and Balmain. I simply I don't whinge about what I cannot change and I look forward to the season ahead. I'm sure the players will all be looking to make the most of their opportunity.

i actually wanted them to re-sign sheens but if this was his choice then i've definately changed my mind about that.

i am definately not blaming the players though. they have to do whats best for their careers

I don't blame you at all alien. I just don't see the point in whining about it. It's done, move on. You seem to think I'm against Wests alien - I'm not. While I grew up supporting Balmain, I've always had a soft spot for the Magpies. I simply refuse to dwell on the past and look forward to the future for the Wests Tigers for this season and beyond.

My take on this sad situation:

Wests Tigers: "So we all agree that a successful NRL side is the priority and that's achieved through setting up a strong pathway for players"

Balmain & Wests: "Agreed"

Wests Tigers: "And we agree that by getting players together, building combination and having a shadow-FG is the most logical setup, as reflected in the way that it's the system that most clubs around the world employ?"

Balmain & Wests: "Agreed"

Wests Tigers: "And we also agree that we should make the JV fair?"

Balmain & Wests: "Correct"

Wests Tigers: "So in the interests of achieving all of the above which we agree upon, let's merge the State Cup side and have a direct fall-back team made up of those players we aren't in the NRL side for that week. As the bigger entity (although you are my owners), i'm telling you that this is the BEST way forward. I want you two to merge. By doing this, we
a) ensure that neither side of the JV is given an advantage
b) benefits the state cup players
c) benefits the NRL team and JV as a whole"

Balmain: Ok, seems fair and even. Yes, let's do it!
Wests: No. Whinge Whinge Whinge. Our 30 supporters that turn up each week will be devastated that their club will BENEFIT from this idea. We won't do it. We full accept that by not agreeing to this we will see our better players sent to Wests Tigers who will then be dealt with as WT please (ie: put into their established grade system of WT, BRET, NYC)

Wests Tigers: "Ok, you are technically my owner, but you have no power to stop me doing whats right for the team so i'm going to do it anyway. WT don't want to benefit either side of the JV, but your stubbornness is your own undoing and your own loss."

Wests: *cry cry cry*

:deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

wests only have themselves to blame for the situation that they have found themselves in.
Not Sheens
Not Balmain
Wests

I do get abit emotional about it Will but it's only because I care. I've spent alot of time and money supporting them so I think I should be allowed to express how I feel about it, even though I know it's not going to change anything.
