Brett Hodgson - assistant coach 2018 *Official.

Hodgo is true legend of the club, he debuted back when wests were struggling, but you could see he had something special about him. Was a proud magpie junior too, welcome back champ

Take note Mr Tedesco. No one… and I mean NO ONE... will be talking about you with this sort of affection almost a decade after you hang up your boots. Hodgo >> Tedesco - as a player and a man

Have noticed a few ''jobs for the boys'' posts. Who at the club was here when Hodgo was here that would be giving a job to him as a mate?

Every time someone who was a Balmain or Magpie junior gets a role at the club you will get those comments.Personally i would prefer positions to go to someone who is not and has never came from either side of the foundation clubs.

I don't think people are saying that it is 'Jobs for the boys', just that because we have been guilty of that before they are aware that the possibility is there for us to fall down that path again.

And the funny thing is, Cleary has hunted down and attracted quite a few players who he personally had coached before, which can almost look like 'Jobs for the boys' (if looked at with an askew view with squinting eyes). I'm not saying it is, just saying someone could have that opinion and not be completely farfetched.

All NRL appointments could be classified as jobs for the boys.Friendships and and associations transcend way beyond each club. Who gives a rats as long as he does a good job.

Fantastic news, one of the all time WT greats. Welcome back with open arms. He will be a great addition to the coaching staff.

I'm sure one of his main roles will be to liaise between the players and Head Coach.

He will obviously have other duties, however I see this as a huge plus for Cleary (Whom I've been told isn't/wasn't overly talkative with his players - at least when at Panthers)

He has been out of the club a long time now & I cannot see how his appointment as 1 of the assistant coaches cannot further enhance our club's rebuild.

Clever appointment.

Welcome back I say.

What a quality first post. You said it exactly right as well.

Hodgo is all class and I think this will be a great appointment. He knows how great this club should be and has a great head to motivate the young guys

why did the tigers let him go back in 2008? 2009?

Im still scratching my head to this day withe the same question

After all, he was our captain too ..

I was hugely disappointed we didnt keep him or at least try too

Just another dumb decision. By this club

It was simple…Marshall, Farah, Gibbs, Fulton, Halatau etc were paid overs on the back of 2005 and seen as the future leaving a very low offer for Brett to say..it worked out OK for him though as he went to the ESL and carved it up winning Man of Steel awards...
