Broncos

there is no way i take that money if I am Seioboldt.. his career is done if he leaves the Broncos now. I'd be negotiating $4m instead od $3.2m spread over 10 years. There is no way that I'd settle for anything less than $3.2m

Hopefully Seibold digs the heels and says I want my contract paid out in entirety.

The only thing that hasn't totally sapped my enthusiasm for this year is the flaming train wreck that is the Broncos 2020. It's been a glorious joy to watch, especially their entitled plastic fanbase carrying on like it's the end of the world.

Hopefully Seibold is well and truly employed if we ever need another NRL coach

Rather Matt Parish than Seibold

10 years 😂
It ain’t instant lotteries

They should pay him out in full imo

Looks like the Donks want this to go away quietly..before anymore digging shines light bigger than they are prepared for..

Seibold to leave Broncos with $1M negotiated by his manager Issac Moses.

No good if true. I want him to wait for them to sack him and have to pay him the $3.2 million. If he walks away with just $1 mill you can safely assume he would be getting the rest of it by under-the-table payments.

wouldn't this be the test case for clubs not wanting to honor contracts? Or does it only apply to players?

if they want him gone, they pay full freight. If he chooses to leave he gets nothing

It is unlikely that they gave him a 5 year contract without any performance clauses. The $1 million is probably an incentive payment to make him go away without a fight in circumstances where they don't even need to pay him that much.

it was established a while back that there aren't any performance clauses. Since the Broncos are a publicly listed company, from memory a lot of information had to be disclosed to shareholders which specifically mentioned a 1 year option in Anthony's favour without any performance clauses.

Not fair at all. Purely for entertainment purposes the NRL should step in and make him fulfill his contract.

Not sure which has made the game more entertaining, the six again rule or the Broncos.

I just did a search on it and most of the articles that came up seemed to suggest that there are such clauses, including the following with quotes from Paul White, CEO:

https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/teams/broncos/nrl-2020-anthony-seibold-brisbane-broncos-contract-performance-measures-paul-white/news-story/7298a64268504ac8d6313c1c1238e2e0

Speaking on Channel 9’s 100% Footy, White confirmed performance measures had been included in Seibold’s contract.

“There’s performance measures in every contract, so to say there’s no performance measures in Anthony’s contract’s certainly not true,” White told Channel 9. “But our job at the moment is to support our coach.

Oh the Broncos. 100% the Broncos.

Broncos will weasel their way outta this and the NRL will bury it's head in the sand, yet again. Different story if it was WT, Bulldogs etc the NRL would screw them to the floor.

Damn the Broncos are setting a new bar for turmoil. It just doesn't get any better. There is no light at the end of the tunnel for a long time. Even after they sack Seibold, they are still miles away from hitting rock bottom.

So glad it is not us.

Sorry

Weasel their way out of what .....if Seibold wants he can get every cent

He'll never get another role at a NRL club ..but thats his perogative

Seibold will make a magical motivational speaker

You don't reckon it's a bit suss that Seibold has forgone upwards of $1.7 million and decided to "walk away"??? IMO there are massive red flags around this BS. Not many people would give up that type of money......he could've dug his heels in for 5 more weeks, most certainly got sacked from the job but walked away with about $1.7 mill extra for the remaining term of his contract.
Smells like money will be paid under the table, maybe he will get an unexplainable "loan" like the one Andrew Gee organised? What a joke.

I don't trust Broncos one bit, and if it was a player absolutely they'd likely do what you suggest. But with a coach, there's no salary cap, there's no limit to the money they can pay to them (at the moment anyway).

If they paid him some now, and the rest later, it'd make no difference except to save some public face. Is that what you mean?
