Players earn alot less than you think

The average fulltime salary is $208k

The median salary (player 12 in the squad) is $171k. The top 4 or 5 in the squad bring down the average for everyone else.

DCE and Foran earn less than $300k (although I suspect next contract they will get a significant upgrade)

Salary cap has gone up, but pre cap rise the average was as you the average was $168k.

The average is easy to work out, it is simply the cap divided by 25.

I was given the median wage in an official NRL presentation and hand out, so I guess it was publically available somewhere, but cant say exactly where unfortunately.

Perhaps in their player well fare material

The media likes to bump figures and in some cases I know exactly what players earn (only a dozen or so), and it is significantly less than reported in the press. So i have to assume this is consistent across the board. Especially once compared to the cap details.

As an exercise if you add up the reported salaries of every player in a squad (assuming the minimum for non reported salaries) every team would need a second set of books.

fair enough. always was surprised to see players aparenly earn 750K or something in the reports given that's ~25% of the cap.

It's not completely unreasonable. People are forgetting just how much the cap is going up and has gone up. Just LAST year, it was 4.4 million for top 25\. Next year it will be 6.3 milion. Which makes 400k a lot less percentage wise.

II think 200k would be closer to the mark for the 1st year, maybe 400k for the 4th year. But then who knows how this club signs its contracts.

I severely doubt they are on $400k.
They may be able to earn that in a heavily incentive based contract assuming they play every game and make some rep teams and achieve some other incentives.
