Brooks Gun Shy

Brooks at this stage appears to be way down on confidence especially at the line, i wont go as far as to say he is scared BUT against Newcastle he appeared very nervy when defenders were anywhere near him in attack and he was to receive the ball in tight situations. We are so frightened in losing a possible superstar but at this stage he needs a stint in lower grades to build his confidence.

I think it's time for both Brooks and the club to let go.

Brooks needs a mentor, just like Normans game grew under Foran, Brooks needs someone to lead him. Moses needs the same but releasing Brooks would allow the Tigers to sign someone to assist Moses.

We need to start exploring our options, Adam Reynolds and Corey Norman being first priority to play in our halves with Moses.

If Brooks wants to go places in his career, he must go to the Storm or another club with an established halfback that can guide him.

Will i be sad to see Brooks go? Yes I will be, i love the kid, he can set up a try thats for sure but playing behind this mob will get him no where, especially when he isn't confident enough to make his own calls.

Some on here suggested Lachlan Coote to play 6 and Moses 7\. That would be a sensational combination.

Or perhaps we should have kept that humble quiet kid who now plays for penrith at #6?

But that would be breaking up good mates…

I'd take Coote but his injuries are a worry

The bigger question may well be why is already in a tight situation when he is receiving the ball, as he looked pretty good to me in his first game and went okay in his second. A halfback needs to be allowed to run the team.

I think it fair to say that the halves have progressively struggled in the past few weeks, Brooks more so, and it is either them and/or other factors. Whilst not absolving them of blame, for mine a lot of WT problems originate before they get the ball in their hands.

What a joke that is.
We must be the only fans who blame players they don't like for the deficiencies of the players that they do .

100% spot on. He is a confidence player. Did anyone noticed how much better he looked for around 5 mins after he set that try up? Not sure what happened to him after that. Maybe Farah's poor service to him from dummy half maybe?

I can see where some critics of Farah are coming from, they claim a slow delivery gets the halves in trouble??? But what we have not had since Farah's return is the big disappointing meltdowns of about 20 points without blinking an eyelid. It is still that last 8 minutes of the clock before half time that gets us on the downhill slide.

Farah should be captain also.
No more collapses around HT.

As for mentors many of us have been saying it for 2 years now and that is club should have signed a Maloney or Hogdkinson or even Foran to partner one of them.

Not much different in pay package compared to our either.

I do agree that Brooks looks down in confidence, but am I the only person in this forum that rates Brooks honestly I do agree he's had a poor start to the season but I do think Brooks will bounce back and will turn into a star and I don't think he needs a mentor.

Brooks and Moses have been playing with each other for a long time and they should really have a good combination but they play like they just met they don't gel that well, and when they do there sharp

Maybe I know this may sound silly but we should approach Joey Johns for him to be our halves coach look what he did at Manly with Foran and Cherry and I'm pretty sure Johns is with Roosters this year we should approach him for next year I think he could help Broses play to each other's strengths and when they learn to play with each other and both gain confidence with a good pack behind them I honestly think they'll be the most feared halves combination in the NRL

Or that boy who plays for Canberra….gee we put all our eggs in Broses and its backfired

My biggest concern is his kicking game, it's putrid!

He just isn't even close to what he was hyped up to bring to this team. I had never seen him play, i even missed his debut so i had no expectations other than what I'd heard, but i reserved judgement and wanted to see it for myself, im still waiting.

Yep. I love how when a player or a coach isn't performing it's always someone else's fault. The blame also gets put on one of our best ever players.

Not many no7's dominate when they play behind a pack of forwards that are down on power, grunt and are absolute devoid of a offload

I think Brooks has been beyond ordinary but I honestly think he has the ability to make it in the NRL. I'm not sure what is required to get him there but I don't think he needs a mentor.

Maybe he just needs lots of coaching each and every week.

The biggest problem with this whole Brooks situation is we are basically at decision time as far as his career goes with the WT's

We are past the promise or potential stage now

If he can't find some consistency in the next month we can't sign him or if we do it will be for probably half of what he is expecting

It is as simple as that

Don't rate him myself - letting him go was a good move.
