And not a big loss at that. 14 point loss to the Premiers is not the end of the world in my book either ST.

yeh, as i said in another thread (…or this one? i don't know... i blab a lot. :blah ) the team has quite a few areas to improve upon and they have still done pretty well so far this year. defensively they have been outstanding.

Lol… I always enjoy reading your :blah TS..

For me, I was stoked with the final scoreline. I expected a bit of a hammering. But they were great defensively as supercoach said. Our attack however, is almost non-existent. The halves have to wear this responsibility. This is their entire role. I see a lot of patience will be required over the coming months. I hope it's not years.

Tedesco is miles ahead of Brooks & Moses atm. He's the only 1 out those who has been consistent in the limited game time he has played so far. The halves pairing have been a hit n miss, but it's early days.

Teddy is also two years older playing in a position that is reliant on bossing older, more experienced players around.

The kids will get there. JT warned us that the new systems would take a while to bed down. A loss to the best team in the comp should hardly ring alarm bells.

Agreed Tigermama it could of been much closer too if our execution matched our courage. The tigers were very brave today.

We might've even won it Jerry

true. but i guess having a solid defence is a great foundation to work on attack.

i agree with months, not years too. i thought the club wasted season after season on marshall and it drove me insane. drugs, edisons medicine…i never recovered either.

 the club has a lot to answer for TS.

Couldn't care less about our media obligations, please send someone else for interviews. Brooks and Moses should not be doing any press, this article is almost embarrassing. Enough is enough with the hype, just let them play.

Yep. It would be a lot better if they just proved that they are quality first graders.

It's easy to get excited when you have exciting young players coming through and are judged on lower grade performances rather than what they have done together as a Unit in 1st Grade .
Yeah the Teddy and Brooks Combo looked good vs the Titans last year and Souffs but apart from that like Geo says they have played bugger all together.
I personally think there is massive hype around Brooks and Moses and if i compare them to the way Foran and Daly Cherry Evans came on in there 1st year of 1st Grade footy , i don't think there anywhere near them , the media love to hype up Brooks and Moses and that is where fans come down on them hard and sometimes not warranted cause there expecting things on the back of what they read .
The key word is POTENTIAL and that is what the media are hyping them around.

We live in a spoiled generation, where we want things to happen immediately.

We've seen what they're capable of last year v souths, manly, dogs & Titans plus the year before v dragons. It's not much but I'm confident they'll come good in time. Our forwards are giving them the opportunities like they did early last year. I just hope they've learnt something & will have a breakout game soon. I reckon they just need that confidence boost to play more consistent good footy.

I'd rather have them at WT than not have them. But, they are all learning and progressing, albeit maybe a little more slowly than the hype and reputation would have us believe. The signs are positive though and I also think yesterday's effort was solid and encouraging for the future.

Honestly haven't seen anything to suggest Moses is our long term 5/8\. To be fair I was overseas for a large portion of his games last year but he's done absolutely nothing in the first 2 games this year. Tedesco is obviously a superstar in the making and Brooks has proven that he has the ability to become a very solid halfback. Just waiting for Moses to show the same class the other two have over the next 12 months

I had a thought about Teddy this morning. Is it possible that James might make the Lockyer transition into the halves later in his career? Could we have a Brooks/Tedesco pairing in the halves in say 2018?

No. Moses is a better 5/8 and Tedesco is a better fullback than Moses at fullback. Past, present and foreseeable future.

As Gus said in a interview when they were speaking about Milford at the Broncos , Lockyer spent 5 years at fullback before making the switch and was a superstar at the time

I'd rather make the call later than sooner , but he shows he has many of the qualities

You'd want to have a bloody good fullback to replace him , Broncos had Karmichael Hunt who proved he was an excellent fullback at the Broncos

We had a respectable score line against us when we played the Rabbitohs, why, because our forwards muscled up and didn't let Souths get on top of them, our boys had a go…

As far as the backs went,we'll let me tell you what I think,Brooks is to scared to make a call and take hold of the passage of play, why do you asked ..I reckon he lacks confidence in the big arena and it reflects on Moses because he doesn't get the ball to have a dig at all..

I was under the impression that these "kids played a lot of footy together"and gel very nicely....I'm yet to be impressed with what I have seen so far,Brooks has been "hyped up to be the next big thing"if so have a go and see what you can do,take hold of the last play options and have ago for the team...(please don't give me the "they are shackled crap")if you are good enough to be picked in FG on reputation alone then prove it to your teammates and most of all your fans.....I'm sick of hearing a work in progress for the next x amount of years.......critisise me all you like or have some positive input to this discussion...thanks

Good point TT. I'd rather see them "have a go" & make a mistake than struggle to make an impact whilst trying to stick to structure. In saying that though there aren't too many 20 yr old halves running around these days who are killing it in 1st grade.

Maybe keeping them together in NSW cup this year & having a 1st grade halves pairing of say drinkwater & austin would've been a better option in hindsight.

They are just playing to instructions as far as I can see TT, as are the other fifteen players, simply carrying out the oh so basic structure that the coach is demanding. Taylor is obviously a better coach than me, but gee I wish he would at least let them play what unfolds in the opposition twenty.

They must be terribly frustrated, just as I am watching them play whilst by being shackled.

Hope not Mate! Where does that leave Mitchell?

Bloody hell some people crap on.

They're kids, 18/19 year olds!!!

Tedesco is a freak. That being said Teddy, Moses and Brooks have played 3 games together for gods sake as playmakers. 3 games, won 2 and lost one to the premiers who've demolished every side in the comp so far. The Roosters leaked more points against them than we did which is a good sign. That's not bad. Yeah, our attack was crappy, but it's early days, with a squad packed full of youngsters learning their trade.

Seriously people, give these kids a chance to gel, they could still be playing 20's, they're playing against grown men in the strongest league comp in the world against seasoned pros. I

Sure, they need work. They're like any young player, there are faults in their games. Anyone who watched these kids in their junior days will understand that these kids are freaks.
They could single handedly tear teams apart. Literally.

People need to understand it's going to take years for these guys to reach their potential as you see with most halves, not 3 weeks.

Just be bloody patient.
