Brooks re-signs - Reportedly

I'm happy Brooks genuinely wants to stay at the club but would any team have paid that much to sign him besides the Tigers? Is he really worth that much at 70 games? I doubt Nathan Cleary is on that and he's head and shoulders above Brooks in all aspects of the game.

I hope the decision makers took into consideration that the coaches will need to completely start again with his defence. It's not anywhere near NRL standard. He needs to focus completely on that part of his game. It won't matter how good his attack is if he can't tackle. Once this is fixed I'm confident Brooks can become a fantastic player for us.

The Dogs were never after Woods and Teddy, they were just pumping the prices, and were genuinely after our halves knowing we had to take a hit on one of the 4\. Brooks having no interest is a fallacy perpetuated by out of school forum talk. He was probably the easiest of the 4 to be lured away by minimal dollars as he is still highly regarded despite his performance of late.

Mbye almost hung Des… locked in for 700ish and has no real prospect of getting any better.

Is Woods as dumb as he looks and sounds? I swear sometimes he plays it up for the media and to look cool and hip rather than like some stiff know-it-all. Or else he really is when it comes to what's happening behind the scenes regarding player/coach signings, cause HE would theoretically be bgetting his name on the line first, not Brooks, Teddy, Chee Kam, McQueen or Suli - HE is the big-haired and big-hearted Tiger that people want to play with, right?

Melbourne was always "big three" - Smith, Cronk, Slater (may only be Smithy next year) with Bellamy as their fourth, but player fourths seemed to shift over the years from Inglis to Blair to Widdop to Hoffman and now to Bromwich.

**Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary wasting no time: one playmaker signed and one gone**
>

>
Ivan Cleary hasn't even stepped into the coach's box for Wests Tigers yet and already one playmaker has gone, while another remains.
>
Rebuilds are known to take time, but this one is off to a fast start. Where it will lead remains to be seen, but there has been a feeling for some time that Mitchell Moses wasn't going to be part of the process.
>
In a last-ditch attempt to keep Moses, the Tigers tabled a revised, slightly higher, offer on Friday. It was pulled from the table just five days later. The official line from the club is salary cap uncertainty due to the fact that no one knows how the collective bargaining agreement negotiations will end.
>
However, the fact is the Tigers needed to prioritise and, now that Luke Brooks has committed, the top priority is James Tedesco. The next order of business is Aaron Woods, particularly given the fullback is more likely to stay if his captain does.
>
For the best part of a year, the negotiations with the "big four" have led to nought. Cleary has come in and within days the futures of two of them are settled. History has shown he isn't one to muck around.
>
Moses doesn't want to be be there and word is he has felt that way for some time. Which means his move to Parramatta will likely come sooner rather than later. It will be Cleary's call, although he may wait for Brooks to come back from a hamstring injury to ensure he isn't caught at sixes and sevens.
>
Cleary, having overseen a similar shake-up at the Panthers, isn't afraid to make the big calls. He stripped the captaincy from Luke Lewis and sanctioned Michael Jennings, moves that ultimately led to the release of the local juniors. The moves were unpopular and involved short-term pain. Ultimately, they worked, even if Cleary didn't remain at the club long enough to fully reap the rewards.
>
Whether you agree with what is happening at Concord or not, the situation is being brought to a head. The Bulldogs and the Roosters are watching the Tedesco situation with interest. The Roosters have refused to deal with Isaac Moses – the manager of the "big four" – after he fell out with their chairman, Nick Politis. However, it is understood the tricolours are set to re-enter the race for the NSW fullback's services.
>
The Bulldogs have also been in the mix for Woods, although they are expected to shift their attention to Sydney-bound Storm star Cooper Cronk. Des Hasler did his best to distance himself from Cronk, suggesting he expected him to retire. But conspiracy theorists are already suggesting Hasler's two-year extension was brokered on the promise Hasler and Cronk – both managed by George Mimis – would be at Belmore as a package deal.
>
Tim Grant was punted by Cleary at Penrith. Now they are both at the Tigers. Grant concedes the coach was right to do so. Cleary has shown he can level a club while retaining a level head.
>
"The one really good aspect of Ivan is he's always calm," Grant said on Wednesday. "It doesn't matter what scenario you put him under. I think that's probably a thing that we can really learn at the Tigers. We sort of ride the wave a bit."
>
The ride continues and only time will tell if it will be a success or a wipeout.

Brooks should spend the time he is injured in the coaches box next to Ivan getting an understanding of how the coach expects the side to play and understanding exactly what his role in that is over the next 2.5 years

Are the fans starting to think the club needs to rid itself from Moses due to his character. ?

No. I believe both have not been given the quality coaching required of young halves. I have no doubt under Cleary both players will significantly improve.

This ^ bugs me. Why? Because he got Jason Taylor as coach. Everyone attacks Taylor, ok with this start of the season fair enough. He clearly did not fix our defense or our physical fitness. However Taylor was recommended by people who saw him work with Easts. Easts have refined Mitchell Pierce (why isn't he in orange and black? IMHO the halfback we were missing to pair Marshall) and Maloney into awesome attacking machines (ok at least at club level). Taylor was heavily involved with this.

Ok Cleary has clearly been working with his son Cleary. His son has become a fine Halfback, so he can do some work. But will Ivan be better then Jason when Jason could develop Halves at East? I don't know, all I know for such a good goal kicker Jason could not develop one within our ranks! So hopefully the problem was all JT.

Brooks is good boy from all reports even off the field. Rumour is he wants to piss Issac Moses off as manager. if true he has my greatest respect.

Brooks is coming across like a dead set legend here. I love the kid. He has endless goodwill now.

Give it time… Things will be back to normal soon

Haha!!

But we did miss Brooks last week, our left side offered nothing with JLJ and the Jama.

This x 10

He crapped his pants when told the truth about what he was really worth on the open market and took the money on offer ( which was still most likely more than he would have got elsewhere).
I like the kid but that doesn't make him a legend.

Brooks signs within days of meeting Cleary.
Moses wants to leave within days.
Woods and Teddy still deciding what to do.
Well done brooks for making a decision.
Moses I honestly couldn't care less but if Parra want him. They show us the money and a stipulation in the contract. He can't play against us this year.
Woods and Teddy - make your mind up Cleary is going to build something special here, you can feel it. As Cleary said " get on the bus and be apart of that journey" or leave.

It would also be fair to say Brooks has the lowest stocks of any of these players, so he's signed up early to not get left behind?

Correct, but he has wanted to sign for quite some time as well it is believed.

OH, all you critics of Luke Brooks, make sure you ALL have the decency to admit how wrong you were when Ivan gets him a committed pack of forwards to play with.
Remember NO HALF BACK can shine without the muscle up front.
