What does everyone think of converting Brooks to hooker next year. His dummy half runs would be great as he is very fast off the mark passes the ball well & is a solid defender.

Yep, been discussed in depth.
Makes sense.

He could he like A Damien Cook style 9.

Not sure it'll work out but it'd definitely play to his strengths and allow us to have am actual half-back play in the 7.

I vote **YES**.

Would much rather have a top flight nine, but Brooks would do OK at hooker I think. He would need dependable middle fowards to help in defence though. All well and good he defend in the halves, it's whole different game defensively wearing the #9, he would be required to make 40+ tackles a game near flawlessly. He would provide better service out of dummy half than our current hooker.

Honestly it'd rejuvinate his career. He'd be a total weapon at 9. His kicking game, speed and ball playing would make him one of the best hookers in the comp. And he can defend.

He's always been described as a running half, but it would add an extra dimension to our attack in the sense that Brooks passing game is superior to our current 9's, plus he has a kicking game so this would add an element of variety, and more options to our attacking structure/spine.

I def see him possibly evolving into a Ben Hunt/Nikorima style 9. Quick smart running and could break games open when opposition forwards are fatiguing.

He's been described as the next Joey Johns in the past.

He also spent some time at 9.

I think he could really excell in this position.
He hasn't been a complete 7 that can control and organise the team.

I love this idea and wish it was explored long ago.

Been saying this for a while, I think at NRL level hooker is probably his best position.

He has the attributes such as good one on one defence, good kicking game, speed, an excellent short passing game and decent enough organisation skills. What he will need to practice is wrestling and off the ground passing.

I think he has the fitness (in defence) and smarts to play in the middle.

I'd move on Liddle on, not because of his performances but more that Brooks and Simpkin can cover hooker. I understand Liddle is under contract but we are likely to pay nothing to move him on but likely to pay a lot more if we decide to move Brooks on.

Brooks could become one of the best hookers in the competition within 18 months. Especially with Robbie as a mentor.

Whether Hastings is the answer or not, it would have to be a gun halfback available to unseat him.

Would depend whether he could pick up ruck identification and holding markers etc. it’s an art form that is only getting more specialised with ruck rules changing

I reckon Lock is Brooks position. He'd kill it in that position.

Yep, the role of a hooker is changing. He will never have the finesse of a Grant, but I think Brooks can be a solid, no-frills hooker. Peter Wallace at Penrith 4-5 years ago was a great example. Brooks isn't a leader but at hooker I feel he will have a simple job.

Way too small IMO. But hooker and lock position descriptions are definitely changing with the new laws.

Brooks can defend better than most forwards and he can run. He would not be out of place as an agile lock.

The way I look at it is that we don't have a quality hooker. We have Hastings coming next year. We got to somehow get a quality spine.

I'd love to see Brooks given a shot there at some point.
