It is surprising that an NRL team would have to develop a player for what could end up being an entire season, when they could have played him in the NSW Cup to develop for 3/4's the season.

They obviously put way too much faith, thinking he would sprout his wings in record time, vs having him develop in NSW Cup and get a seasoned, good enough half to warm his seat.

Having Anasta as the baby sitter for a player who hasn't developed much past his first few games, has shown big time on our for and against.

I did a good flip on my bmx today at the skate park but thats neither here or there.

Kasiano ran over the top of Kieran Foran who is a vastly superior defender than Brooks unfortunately

Look at the last few weeks .

He is chasing big deficits from early on and it just adds to the pressure to try and be creative in a side that lacks creativity

He is still on a learning curve and he (and Moses and Austin ) needs to learn to let us get back into the grind and not try and score off every play

Defensively he has bad days , but most halves do and he will put some more muscle on and work on this aspect of his game

what makes you say this period wont help him develop? not picking on you, but there are alot of un realistic expectations around here..

the greatest developments come from failures, and brools will take alot away from this season and the way he played.. much more than if he had played nsw cup and tore it up.

Few things that the commentators have picked on the last few weeks is his tendency to stay left and to start extremely deep and wide of the ruck, giving the defence ample time to close down opportunities. I had little to no prior knowledge or expectations on the bloke so I'd be happy just to see him fix these two things. His defence has come far enough for me.

Good god there are some really, really thick people on here. Some of the comments in this thread defy belief. Do you people ever stop and read the crap your typing?

You realise Brooks was 3rd in the league in try assists up until 2 weeks ago??! Only 2 players had setup more tries than him in the whole league!!!! But no you're right, a rookie 19 year old halfback should lead the comp in try assists! He intentionally hasn't even been taking a leading role during many of our sets.

Forget that he's set up more tries than Soward, Cherry Evans, Widdop, Sandow, Johnson, Reynolds…..

Sure he can be better in a lot of areas of his game, but he's doing bloody well for a ROOKIE! He also leads the NRL in errors forced through one-on-one defense. No other players have forced more turnovers than him! Yes he misses some tackles, as all halves do, and it was worse at the beginning of the season but he's solid and has a pretty good technique!

Remember, we have the slowest and worst backline in the comp at the moment, and a bunch of forwards who drop the ball and concede penalties, but no let's blame our young star instead. Rookie of the Year no doubt.

Barba? He played a handful of games in his first 2 seasons and so Brooks has played much more first grade at a comparable time. There's simply no point in playing players who are totally dominating at a level which is below them. If its too easy and they're not being challenged they need to go up.

Facts, who needs them when you can make emotion filled statements based upon expectations built on delusion.
