Brutal Reality - We lack talent

That's all I want, competitive. I can cop the Sharks trial, we were completely outclassed early but hung in there, turned around a much better second half.

Sure the Sharks ran off some key players 2nd half but so did we, so it says something at least about the players who did better 2nd half / depth.

Personally I feel the closeness of the comp, any match where you turn over too much ball early you are going to struggle to get back into the game. Teams are going to go on rolls off the back of opponent's penalties and mistakes, and 6 quickly becomes 24.

Sharks did it to us last week, we did it to the Cows the week before.

I just want to see as much consistent footy as possible. Last 7-8 rounds last year was fairly encouraging, to see the team stay in games and young blokes putting their hands up to do hard work, tackle to 80 mins, win ugly if required.

Yes Brooks is a big question mark for sure, but he doesn't get any reliable platform either - NRL noting we were one of the worst clubs for metres gained. Good thing about Brooks is you only have to put up with him another season or so - either he changes your mind or he goes bye-byes.

I will say one thing if we are competitive each week and play solid football you fellas better still b**** about these trial games and not 'Get on the bus' when its going ok.

Generally I don't think many people change their minds too much. They just feel vindicated when we play bad and want to let you know that they knew, so they post more.

Every win over the last 18 months you read multiple comments from fans saying "team x played their worst game ever or we wouldn't have won." We are a strange bunch if you focus on these minority voices. If you look at most people they are still pumped for round 1, with slightly dampened enthusiasm after the game last Saturday.

Some people are just negative. Others feel there have suffered too long. I understand both of these things, especially on game day, but I'm generally optimistic about our future.

LOL i cant get over how negative this forum is.

Not sure its negativity, I mean from some it is, but I think its fair to say we could do with a dangerous player or two in the team, like a Tedesco type player… hah. I mean, it's true (dont hate me) haha.

Thompson is going NOT BAD. But I mean, Thompson vs Hayne, Thompson vs Billy Slater, Thompson vs Tedesco, Thompson vst RTS haha... Come on. Be serious, our spine isnt amazing...and WHO is even our hooker.

Brooks, argh..

I rate Reynolds though.

Common guys we've had two trials with two different starting line ups,we're not going to win every game we have a very hard start to the season as long as we're competitive and put in each week cant ask for much more. You're either ON THE BUS OR GET OFF BEFORE WE START ROLLING

The Bus is in for modifications, they had to widen the door so LoLo could get on :

I'm so over the "on the bus " cliche .
Then there's …."the star of the team is the team " :unamused:
Which is usually reserved for an under 8's division 5 team where all the kids are window lickers

I’ve got to agree with you about the bus getting to be a major bore. It’s been done to death.

It just seems most are resigned to failure before a ball is even kicked

Give Cleary and our players a chance before sinking the boot in again this year

Being negative towards people rarely results in good outcomes
Positive talk tends to be more productive
Being negative just gets people down
A couple of early wins will always help
Even being competitive in the first few games is better than getting flogged as some on here almost seem to be willing to happen
But this is a forum and we are all entitled to our opinion

Stick around the forum long enough and you'll come to realise this is the way a lot of people post, and to be fair it is deserved, we have a shocking record when it comes to making the 8.

Love the BUS

Should be more made of it. Id turn the half time into a Bus stop type thing. Ground announcer saying we are stopped for half time etc.

Bus bus bus

Dont care if people dont think its cool. Other codes like the NFL milk this and do well out of it.

Same names, same negativity.

…and the same footy on field thus far

Its been a long time between drinks, and the last drink

I think its more fans being realistic then negative.

All this get on the bus stuff bores me more then honest and passionate comments.

Each to their own though.

I respect rans that like to get behind the team and be positive.

However like you said - its been a while.

I know I've said it a few times , but I deal with losing and not having the greatest squad , I can't deal with the squad rolling over , the last 20 minutes of the 1st half we rolled over

All I've heard is we will be different under Cleary , we that was same ol same ol

No excuse it was a trial …..we have great depth (apparently ) so they should be fighting tooth and nail for a starting spot Rd 1

Because they didn't dig in and get dirty , that's why

We weren't going to come back from 20-0 when your playing unlimited interchange and 4 quarter footy

You hang in their and limit the damage , give some penalties away and back your defence and keep it to 12-0

We want to be a Top 8 side , gotta walk the walk , forget the talk because that's all it is …..talk

Maybe its the bus to Callan Park?

I'll be on that bus if we don't get our act together this season!

I was at the trail, it wasnt like that.

There were some major execution issues on the right hand side defence . Cant deny it.

But the big issue was McIllwrick giving really poor service and as a result our halves were under pressure and not able to finish sets. We couldnt maintain pressure.

Piss poor service.

The real difference was Matt Moylan finished their sets.

I understand that
I grew up in leichhardt played for Leichhardt juniors and followed Balmain and the tigers for 45 years
We are all frustrated and want our team to win that is obvious

The players we bought don't come from top 4 sides which is part of the problem.

Only Adam Blair came from a successful side but was used incorrectly.

Cowboys snare McLean (Melbourne premiership winner and current Australian prop)

Easts get Cronk (Storm, Australian and QLD legend)

Appears the successful sides get the better players and we scape the bottom of the barrel.

I am somewhat optimistic …. not confident by any means ..... but optimistic.

I saw signs late last year which I thought positive ..... this year’s the roster can only be describes as better ..... we don’t have all the distractions that the big three brought us.

We have a big test coming up in first 5 or so rounds ..... it is definatevly not the positives or negatives that you see in few trial games which will define the season results.

In the past we have all seen sides turn from dunces to champs and vice versa in a matter of a season ..... so for a change I think that we are due for some luck .. so here’s hoping.

might be wrong but i think benji is the only player we have in the squad who played finals in 2017

and agree with eddie. we have no speed, power and skill. on potential, this is a crap team. on form, this is a crap team. hoping ivan can change their form.
