Can we continue to carry Moltzen?

I think we are a bit tough on Moltzen at times. I think he has improved each week at fullback and may actually make a good go of it in time, I bet Sheens had a chat to him during the week as he seemed more willing to run the ball back rather than passing to his wingers. He may prove us wrong at the Dragons. Nevertheless, we have better options through either McKinnon, Brown or Ryan, and Moltz should be dropped to the bench or left out altogether.

I'm not impressed with both moltzen or McKinnon, McKinnon could have cost us the game last night when he couldn't clean up the ball last night with a minute to go and about 10m out from our line I thought it was doggies game all over again

Time to bring in brown.. or anyone else for that matter that is going to be at the club next year..
Moltzen can warm the bench or go to state cup.
His kick returns (when he doesn't pass to his winger) are in-affective and it looks like he is going to drop the ball each time he gets hit.

He pulled off one good take under the high ball but then after he killed that try in the first half it all went down hill for him.
He was replaced by Mckinnon right?
Hopefully sheens had had enough and we won't see him grace us with his presence for the rest of the year..

Does anyone know what's going on with Brown?

Is he out of the picture for any particular reason?

Will he be with us next year?

By the way I reckon Ryan would go ok at fullback but I think putting Lote there would be a masterstroke!

My heart goes into my mouth every time he touches the ball! Especially on kick returns where he seems to have an uncontrollable urge to pass the ball, across the face of the goal line, to his wingers!! I think Utai and Ryan ran away from him a lot last night so he was forced to run the ball more. And, as others have already mentioned, when he should've passed the ball, he doesn't, bombing a certain try! I don't want to bag the kid out too much, but geez I just never feel confident with him at the back of the team, despite 4 wins on the trot.

It completely baffles me how Tim Sheens cannot see the tentativeness in his play and continues to select him there. Maybe he thinks Moltzen will just suddenly become confident in the position the more plays there, but I reckon he could end up costing the team dearly, while they're all waiting for that to happen.

i hate watching him ball handle in a sweeping across field play. Utai got robbed of a certain try last night.

i'm just glad i'm not a dragons supporter right now.
seeing moltzen butcher a bomb and butcher a try once again because he has no clue how to promote the football, would be hard to take when you have him coming for 3 years and you still lost the game.

Jesus you lot :deadhorse: . He's part of the team for the rest of the year. Get over it already. You got your wish, he is gone. He's a fricken kid just trying to do the best he can. Before the start of last year, he was our saviour, gets an injury and look at you all. He's a cousin of a mate of mine, just feel sorry for Moltz.

I watched the replay and he was ok.

By god he is a sook of almost Bwaiff proportions. When he plays in the line he thinks he is the halfback. When Lui threw an off pass that was supposed to hit him but cut him out he went off like he was a leader of the team when he is far from that and whenever he gets tackled he looks like he is about to cry.

But no point ranting because he will be there next week

Exactly, he needs to learn a lot from Lawrence

Tim was in unbeevably good form when he sustained that awful knee injury. I still feel for him.

He's back, he's our only ball playing option at 1 and barring injury he will be there the rest of the year. I thought he was tough under the bomb a couple of times on Friday, which was good to see. Let's hope he continues to find his old form over the coming weeks - we can't afford to be changing the formula now and we need all of 1, 6, 7 and 9 firing to win the comp.

I think in this comp you need a ball player at FB and we've struggled with that since Hodgo retired. Tim has the ability and has some game time back from injury now too. Let's hang up the negativity and get behind the team for the run on to the premiership!

I feel for Tim Moltzen and Im not happy he is leaving. I really think with abit of persistence he could became a really good 1st grade fullback. Once he fully recovers from this injury and gains full confidence again, plus another full pre season training his best years would have been next year and beyond. I have a feeling before he did his knee he signed a new contract which at the time was worth more than he should have been getting. But the club saw his talent and didnt want to lose him so they paid him overs possibly back ended. Then we fell into salary cap trouble and the rest is history.

Everyone keeps bagging him for passing the ball to his wingers. And ok he dropped a bomb that lead to a try on Friday night. You cant tell me no other fullback has done this. And Im talking some of the best fullbacks.

Everybody remembers the 05 grand final and Pat Richards try? God knows why Sheens had Benji back there for kick returns when Pat was triple his size. But guess what? Hodgson actually passes Benji the ball so he can make that break!

Let me add before I get bashed. Im not comparing Moltzen and Hodgson. Because if I had my way Brett would still be here. But they COULD be similar players. Ball playing fullbacks. Hodgo was like a second five eighth. Tim could be the same. I hope letting him go doesnt come back to hurt us in a similar way to the dogs letting Thurston go.

no way mate.
a ball player has to actually pass the ball.
what he did friday night was a joke, for a so called ball player.
the tim moltzen ball player talk is an absolute myth.

we set the dragons up perfectly and he freaks out and goes himself as usual.
it is obvious why sheens allowed him to go.

it won't bite us because he doesn't have the skill set for a tim sheens team.

**The question is: Can we continue to carry Moltzen?.
The answer: We have no choice but to carry him…if he gets dropped now(he should IMO) Benji will sulk and play badly...simple as that!**

Love the kid but Moltz's new nickname is the 'Butcher' as this is what he is doing with some of our attack and defence.

First off i thought we should move him to half & put Lui on the bench, but with Lawrence injured i would leave him @ fullback & put Brown in the centeres with Ayshford. Is Mckinnon any better then Moltz @ fullback ? i dont know if he is & dont know if we would gain anything by putting Mckinnon @ fullback after watching him on Friday night.
