Can we go back to back?

Melbourne in Melbourne it doesn't get any harder. They are a well oiled machine and will be celebrating Slaters 300th game.

They are giving us no chance again with Wests Tigers paying $5.50.

We will need to defend like last week and find more points.

Munster will need to be somehow contained and our markers hopefully can put pressure on Smith.

Ado car needs to be a target, he rushes out of the line more often than not and is shaky under the high ball.

If Croft is playing we need to send traffic at him.

It is a huge ask for the boys but Ivan will have them ready to go.

I watched the game again last night and I'm not all that convinced we can take down Melbourne. The Roosters blew a fair few chances when they had numbers down the edges and I don't think our defence out wide has improved all that much just yet. I think we can match Melbourne in the middle and go toe to toe with them for the majority of the match, but watching how JAC and their outside backs put on points against the run of play against Canterbury at ease has me concerned.

I think Melbourne will be a massive reality check and a true indicator of where we are really at.

They generally control the game when they play us, but unless memory fails I don't think they've given us hiding for a while.

I think we can test them. Play the 80 like last week and anything can happen.

Target their kickers
If we can put pressure on their kickers they will make mistakes like any team
Test slaters shoulder out with a few big hits
I think our forwards will step up again this week as they will want to prove last week was no fluke
We won't win by scoring lots of points
But we can win by Deffending for the full eighty minutes

I think we rattled the Roosters. They weren't expecting competition. But they're a rabble of marquee players whereas Storm are a team. They're a lot harder to put off their game. The Rooster loss also gives Storm a heads up. Cleary will have a plan and we can win it but we'll have to be at our best.

We will go back-to-back 😛ray:
if not…..we will lose by less than 6 points 😛ray:

my prediction

This is something Ive meant to touch on over summer but never got around to it.
Stringing wins together is a must.
It didnt happen once last year….but we managed it three or 4 times during 2016 and missed the eight by a win.
I doubt we'll do it this week...I dont think weve ever won down there...I guess I'll be called a fairweather, naysaying doomsayer...but if we wanna play finals we must string wins together

We definitely won once in Melbourne in a tight one , they didn't have their SOO stars , poured with rain all night , Friday Night game , maybe 2011-2012 …..

Limit Smith , control Munster and Croft is the key

They have a monster forward pack , winning the ruck will be crucial

I give us a chance , we seem to really push Melbourne most games and if we can hang in the contest for 80 minutes we will be thereabouts

Slater back too. Our kick chase will need to be on point

Hopefully Benji can find the sidelines like he did against the Roosters and not give there back three a chance to wind up.
We should play that origin style of football. Build the gameplan on toughness.

Can we go back to back "Yes"

Will we go back to back "No".

Melbourne will be tough and will go all out at home to make Slater a winner in his 300th game. Storm thrashed Penrith in 2015 for Cameron Smith's 300 game and Storm just beat Canberra in 2016 for the Puppet Master's 300 game (The semi final game Edrick Lee had a shocker)

Need 4 forwards on the bench. Would like Gamble to be considered for centre and Kevin to State Cup

My fear is that Bellamy will have the side very focused for Saturday’s game. Their win against the Bulldogs was not clinical and at times their defence was ordinary. Rarely does that happen twice in a row.
BUT the longer we stay in the game the better our chances because Melbourne can panic if they are not in control.

Back to back,
back to back!

Why not, if we improve on our roosters performance we are a chance.

we tend to go alright against the Storm for some reason, so I wouldn't be surprised if we managed to get a win, I'll certainly be expecting a close game at least

Think ball control will be key …don’t handover much to them and make them come out of their own end most of the time by finding touch and meeting them at the restart on our terms.. it worked for us last week and will do same this week. Forget the flashy plays in their 20 just keep pounding them and get repeats sets. Put it high to JAC near the goal line and dont contest. Let him catch it and then just pick him up and dump him back in the ingoal. Statistically we are due for a try or 2 from kicks so let’s just keep it simple for the first 6 rounds and attack with our defence.

We go ok against the Storm, not sure about at home though.
We'll need to score more than 10 points though and that's what bothers me.

I'll be happy to see us get in their faces and really hustle them in defense and not let up and see what that results in.

Brain says no chance ,they have speed and skill all over the park and they have a fast mobile pack that turns up every week. They are also disciplined and not to mention the reigning champions.

My heart says..why not. We are always competitive against the Storm and its round 2\. Lets face it if I went with my brain last week I would have got about 1 out of 8 in my selections

We have a decent record against the Storm so, who knows. They are a much better team than the Roosters and they aren't going to be complacent and underestimate us so, our attack is going to have to be 10x better than it was against the Roosters but, with that defence we'll trouble a lot of teams in the comp. If you watch the Bulldogs game, their defence wasn't half as good as ours.

We've lost the last 3 games to the Storm but, we were 10-16 before that.
