Centre is our biggest issue

We have a massive issue in the Centres, which is obvious.

Every week our centres are directly responsible for a couple tries, this week it was 6\. I understand their job is being made harder when we lose the forward battle, which we did on the weekend. but even not under pressure we are getting it wrong in the centres.

This needs to be addressed. We have great kids in NYC, but they are probably not ready. Might be worth a crack anyway.

Lawrence is going well in the second row and it seems to be his spot, but it may be necessary. Despite the flak he copped, he is infinitely better in defence than other options.

Left field option may be Moltzen?? Not ideal, however, no second tier cap ramifications and experienced player in the side might be ok.

Centre is also the area we have had most injuries in too this year. We seem to lose one every game and a forward or Lawrence needs to cover there.

Is Moltzen back from injury? His experience may count for something over the coming weeks.

Naiqama played centre last year in NSW Cup and given our current plight re lack of quality centres outside of Simona then he would be a better option than what Taylor is currently using. Naiqama is tough and at least would make a better fist of playing centre having played there previously than trying to convert wingers or back rowers into centres!! Obviously, the Tigers need to buy a quality centre but that issue has been well and truly addressed previously.

Bring back 4-Try-Keith….

For next year, I think Nofoaluma needs to play wing too.

1\. Tedesco
2\. Naiqama
3\. Seve/Heleta/New Signing
4\. Simona
5\. Nofoaluma

When was the last time we finished a game with the 2 starting centres?

Not that it should make a 20 point difference but it sure has hurt.

Hang on didn't we recruit a handy centre from the GC only to release him as unwanted???… Wouldn't he be handy right now....hmmm

yeah this year has really shown how key the position is, we've leaked a heap of points through the centres

After yesterdays debacle, what would be wrong with having Lulia in the backrow and Lawrence to centres since Noofa and now Simona are injured….at least it would give more experience to both positions for the time being..I know most will shoot me down, however we are getting to the desperation point of no return...

How desperate have we become for a centre? Moltzen?? You can't be serious!

IT wasn't just Lovett - if you watch Simmonds' tries, Richards never stuck with him once. Pat was a step behind him all day. The players inside Lovett were missing tackles as well. Not that I am defending Kyle - he's not an NRL second rower let alone a centre. Hoetter isn't up to it either unfortunately. Any side with a standard backline move and a couple of decoys or a cut-out pass scores in the corner everytime - left side or right, doesn't matter - we simply can not defend it. So much for JT's famous 'STRUCTURE'.

What happened to our forwards as well? Not enough toughness or work rate from Ava, Lodge, Sue, Galloway in particular. Panthers were far more determined and hungry for a win than us. So disappointing, all the stars were aligned for the Tigers yesterday and I really expected more. We seem to have lost that desire and desperation completely now and are starting to look jaded. I suppose losing all the time will do it! Unless this trend is arrested we will be spooners I'm afraid.

Considering we have just re-signed Simona on a Centre Salary, nothing will be fixed on the left.

We are doomed for 3 more years!

Richards burned Lovett just as much as Whare did, to be honest. On almost every occasion we needed Pat to come in on Whare and either shut down the play or force him to pass to Simmons and leave the winger for Tedesco/cover defence, instead he stays out, Whare gets outside of Lovett, Pat can't keep up with Simmons and it becomes a simple draw and pass on Tedesco.

We're definitely short on centres, but from one of the most experienced blokes on the field we needed better. A case of fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me for old Pattycakes.

Chance Peni was getting some good press before injury. Is he a realistic option for left centre in the future with Seve at right centre (next year not immediately).

I think there has been a strong correlation between good performances and first-choice centres.

Our depth at centres is absolutely horrifying. Unfortunately, Rowdy needs to go back there until we can get at least 1 of Nofo or Simona back on the field.

We have the best left center in NSW cup last year, and he was not given a single chance this year :frowning:
Certainly much better center than Lawrence/Lovett/Hoeter :frowning:
Fine is the best NSW cup player week after week, but not a single game in FG :frowning:
Similarly, why was Lovett given priority to Akauola and Funaki ?

I've heard rumours but didn't want to believe them.

Fine I have watched and no matter what position he plays, he always brings commitment and a strong work ethic to the team. Yesterday, I don't think anyone could convince me that the inclusion of both Fine and Sitakeli would have been anything but beneficial to the performance of the team.

Lawrence has been our best back rower over the past month, that's why he didn't move yesterday, and that's why he won't be moved next week either.

It would be better to have Naiqama who's played most of his career at centre there, and hoeter who's played most of his career as a winger on the wing.

Either Lulia or Seve could get a callup as the other centre depending on whether JT wants experience, or to give one of our stars with contracts for the future a go. There's zero point in giving Hoeter, Milone or Lawrence another go in the centres.
