Centre options

Is Bodene Thompson a better centre than Asipeli Fine or Jy Hitchcox. Should one of these two be given a go in the top grade.

Both are at least worthy of a shot as Thompson has shown he doesn't have what it takes to play as a centre despite having a great season the backrow. May be more be a 2nd tier salary cap reason that they have to shift Thompson rather than promoting either of those 2 or anyone else.

If Thompson is going to play as centre on Monday we may as well put up the white flag now. Melbourne will be thinking and doing exactly what Dragons did last week - Run the speed men ( including our once own Koro), towards the Tigers centre/wingers and watch the score mount up. If I was a Wests Tigers State Cup centre I would pack up, leave and find a new club just like Koro and Mr. T did.

Yep. Think this must be right and we should think about complaining about selections for the rest of this year.

Both are outside the top 25, therefore are unable to be picked for Salary cap reasons.

IMO I think Thompson at centre is better than those 2 any way.

Their are no other real options, with injuries and the second cap tier, our hands are tied. This season was gone a while ago, although the dogs game gave us some false hope. Forget the drama of the last week, we need to know who made the crazy call and why to let Koro go, blind freddie knew we had nothing left in the cupboards in the outside back department.

Sironen would have benefitted immensely from playing in the centres this year. it's the perfect place for him to make the transition from five-eighth to back rower.

It's disappointing that Bojangles gets a centre gig ahead of Sironen.

Sironen is way too slow to be at centre. He doesn't have the fitness to play there either.

We can't. Our second tier cap is gone.

He's no slower than Thompson and I would strongly argue an 80 minute backrower gets through more work than a centre.

His lateral movement is actually worse than Lawrence, taupau, gavet and many others IMO. Probably woods and Keithy are the only ones faster than him in this side.

And you can probably see how tired he gets Woking 80 minutes in the backrow.

I can't really accept this complete lack of second tier cap. This is the second season in a row we have run out well before season's end. Surely it is no coincidence. Somebody must be misjudging, i.e. too many forwards and not enough backs this year.

hopefully Moltzen is back. Surely he can play centre.

He will be that rusty and down on confidence it will do him and the team more harm than good.

I agree , MOLTZEN should be eased back in gradually . He can start off by running the drinks on Monday night .

Knowing our luck he'd redo his ACL running the drinks

Way too slow?

He's faster laterally than Thompson and thats far more important for a centre.

It's not a bad thing having a slow centre with good ball skills and a great passing game. His winger would benefit immensely.

Jamie Lyon is a classic example.

Sironen doesn't need to be fast, his size and strength will always draw two defenders and he has the skills to utilise that and put his winger into space, thus he'd be making good use of his five-eighth skills.

Being at centre, he can learn how to run decoys and how to run good strong straight lines as well, a key thing he's struggling with at times in the back row. He's still a five eighth who thinks he has to do hit ups. He's not really understood the finer points of back row play.

Most of which he could learn at centre while still making good use of his five-eighth skills.

Thompson just tries to continue being a back rower. But he ends up committing himself to the inside attacker on the defensive line and leaves his outside man isolated. He has a non-existant passing game too, that means his winger gets no opportunities.

Thompson is the worst centre in the NRL,he would not get a start in any other team at centre,we can do better at centre,Potter has no idea, and don't give me the 2nd tier cap is full.
Thompson fails every bloody time at centre, why keep doing it,try someone else,Austin,Sirro anyone but Thompson.
