CEO - Shane Richardson

There is still 42 regular season matches between now and the end of 2026. That's a massive amount of value for a player that is on less than like 300k a season.

Luai was a Panther right up the very end, didn't stop him from getting that final premiership, and now he's a Tiger. Panthers have lost their dominant vibe without him. The lord giveth and lord taketh away, lets get on with it.
And the difference is Laui didn’t disrespect the coach, the coach disrespected him by saying he wasn’t sure he could run a team in his own.

Still not seeing the racial element . Outside of a hick describing a black dude . Like I said , I always interpreted it as the dad was all about having his balls stroked . And willing to sell to the highest bidder who will jump through the most hoops . Maybe I’m naive

"We signed, while you were in the lobby, (pause), with the Black Fella"

I'd always thought that the (hardly subtle) implication was that the father felt justified to go against his word against and handshake with Jerry because was apparently prioritising a black guy over his son.

Not a biggie, but I wouldn't chuck Galvin's dad in that category. Also Galvin's camp haven't gone against any verbal agreements either.

We also, for better or worse, put Brooks through the ringer with some fairly hopeless first grade coaches. It's not like the last young half to commit to us had the time of his life.

They are certainly good coaches however in fairness Brooks did also have to play under Jason Taylor who was the most useless coach in football and an arsehole as well.

yes … that is true …he was ordinary … Taylor coached at a couple of other clubs right and plenty of other ordinary coaches have been hired by multiple clubs over the years like Barrett and Griffin amongst others.. tigers aren’t on their own with hiring dud coaches from time to time

Dont agree with the statement from Tigers. Why blow up what is looking like a fairly promising season now? Why not wait? Views change. I get that last season, and the wooden spoon isn't an environment where a young, promising player would want to be or see the best chance to develop. A good season might well have changed that. Richo has now put an end to it. Galvin's place in the team now isn't sustainable, he will be booed every game if he gets selected. He isn't in for the crocodile role, apparently, but won't be released (not that I think he should), so Richo uses the tough talk selectively, obviously. Latu is constantly injured and cant string games together to be a reliable long term option. Where to now and in the future? Richo released Large without a plan in place because of a Galvin clause (seemed reasonable to me), apparently because he wont be pushed around by managers, one of the best run clubs in the Storm put the same clause in for Pezet around Hughes because it makes sense for all parties. I don't have the blind faith in Richo like many on here.

I have to disagree on this one mate. We have made a big offer of some type and he has been looking for another club for a while. Richo just got ahead of Moses submitting another release request I suspect. I also suspect Richo knew he wasn’t going to sign and so the ‘offer’ saves us face and puts pressure on other teams. Richo will give up Galvin for the right $ or players. I think latu is an equal or close to equal player and maybe better for our team culture but as you say is always injured. Hypothetical only, we pick up Ethan Strange (not playing as well this year) and a seasoned edge forward from them in exchange for Galvin - I would take that in a heart beat. I posted elsewhere on here about the different culture of the club now. Galvin doesn’t fit in. He can play ressies or Richo will pick up other players or $ for them in exchange. I really hope it doesn’t dash our hope of finals this year, but I don’t think our battle hardened CEO had a choice. He is not Superman but he is a far cry from the dummy lawyer and hairdo

The manager poked the bear with a don't even bother offering youre multi million dollar contract and an attack on the coach. If you want to talk about blowing up a negotiation I think he lit the fuse. There was no maybes only we are not interested. There is motive in that move - i.e relationship with club no longer tenable.
We are talking about a bloke who has used these tactics before when he wanted one of his contracted players off our books.

I don't entirely agree with the approach we've taken but it's a big F-U to Moses and Galvin.

It's taken money off the table for Galvin because there's 1 less team in the market. If Parra or Manly were offering him 1.1 or 1.2 a year, why would they do that now, knowing our offer isn't there?

Plus if his issue is genuinely with Benji, then there's no fixing the situation, so we haven't lost anything.

It's obviously a great shame we're going to lose him but that's just how it goes sometimes.

You rip the bandaid off so you have time to heal and still play finals. Its the only play we had.

Getting a fair swap for Galvin should come next.
