CEO - Shane Richardson

Whether you like the previous administration or not they've left the club in great shape, no scandals, salary cap in order, good financial position and improved roster ongoing negotiations.

Not to mention the appointment of Marshall and Morris.

Super platform for Richardson to build on.

They had to get somebody. It was getting beyond a joke, missing out on the amount of marquee signings that we did. The fact we hit pay dirt the moment Pascoe and the other clown left, really highlights just how toxic they were. Pascoe will go down as being here for 8 and a half years with not one marquee signing to his name. It took Richo a month.
I get this thinking but wonder how far along this deal was before Richo got here. The forgotten man here is also Fulton. I don’t think the media has even mentioned him over the past month or so.

Fair point GNR. An under the radar marquee signing for mine. Should've been on more. He was doing the work of 2 blokes at times!!
My point exactly. He was a great signing, but it wasn’t one that made ripples or moved the needle. With all due respect to Api, we still ran dead last this year. I doubt we run last with a fit and firing Luai.

Agree the needle didn't move. No fault of Api though. He couldn't have done anymore. As I've said before, we didn't have the talent or footy IQ around him to capitalise on his effort & skill; especially in the halves! Won't happen but it'd be great to have Luai here this year while Api's still at his peak.

Fulton would be sitting back saying nothing now as Richo will remove him in a flash if he thinks he is leaking or doing the wrong thing , more changes to come I feel and I also feel Fulton will be moved on , he was bought in behind peoples backs and if Benji has any bad blood there still Fulton will be gone before season starts , sounds like it’s Benji been doing the recruiting of Olam and Romey anyway , Imalso feel we may add 1 more player maybe a back up all rounder and move 1 more on .
on juniors I feel we may see Matta , Feledy , And maybe another get moved on as well , just my thoughts no rumour ( Tumeth ) sorry if spelt wrong

While the Wests Tigers were chopping Nofoaluma, a surgeon was chopping off the CEO’s toe

While the Wests Tigers were chopping winger David Nofoaluma from their squad, a surgeon was chopping off the toe of chief executive Shane Richardson.

Since being appointed on an interim basis in December, Richardson has been slicing and dicing staff and players as he attempts to turn around the struggling joint-venture.

A blood infection, though, has consigned Richardson to a hospital bed for the past fortnight.

He took Zoom and phone calls the whole time, including delicate negotiations around Nofoaluma, who on Tuesday was cut loose from the final two seasons of his deal and given a $300,000 payout.

The only day Richardson slowed up was last Thursday, when a surgeon amputated a toe on his right foot.

“I lost the fourth toe — the one next to the pinkie,” Richardson told me from his hospital bed. “They also had to clean the infection out. At one stage, it looked like they might have to take the whole foot off. But I’ve gotten over it pretty good to be honest.”

Richardson almost lost his right foot when, as South Sydney’s head of football in 2018, he was dispatched to other side of the world to sign Wayne Bennett as coach.

He was on his annual holiday on the Fijian island of Tokoriki when he slipped over and broke several bones in his foot.

Instead of flying home to Sydney for an operation, he flew to London, where Bennett was coaching England in a three-Test series against New Zealand.

Richardson’s foot was black and swollen, but the deal was done.
Say what you want about the big fella, he’s making the hard decisions the previous administration at the Tigers was either not capable of making - or too scared to.

Nofoaluma has been a problem for some time, effectively “enabled” by previous administrators who allowed him to put himself ahead of the team.

When he stopped turning up to training, Richardson and coach Benji Marshall had little choice but to move him on.

From what I can gather, weary Tigers fans are happy with the club’s change in direction after the board effectively sacked itself in December following years of dysfunction.

But nobody gets off the bottom of the ladder in January, as they say. It will mean nothing unless Marshall’s team can string some wins together.

“If we can make the top eight,” Richardson joked, “they can have the whole foot.”

Your foot is safe in 2024 Richo
