I would love 3 games a year at the 8 wonder and the rest to be played at a purpose built stadium around Campbelltown the general admission tickets I understand at the 8 wonder on Saturday was $55;ahead that's fine bump it up to $60 and it's a showcase
I want to separate junior talent and game day ticket sales...

You have a huge inner Sydney supporter base and I think you alienate a lot of fans going out as far as Campbo to play home games.

I think people are too wrapped up in this "growth area" narrative. Yes, South West Sydney has over 1 million population and growing. But the growth is not coming from Australian kids or Polynesians.

Kiwi and Fijian kids make up only 12,871 people out of more than a million. Here are the stats.

The growth is coming from immigrants that wouldn't even know what rugby league is, let alone turning up to a game. The above demographics table directly contributes to average crowds of between 9-10k per game. Leichhardt is 13-14k each game. 30-40% difference. Can someone explain if Campbelltown is such a big growth area, why we have been averaging so poorly there for so many years, when Leichhardt is a regularly sold out even when we are coming last?

I'm not saying juniors aren't produced out there. Far from it, but competing for the fan dollar seems to be far more difficult out there. It shows to be the case at every Campbelltown home game.

I'm not against Campbelltown, but I think the argument that it's a growth area, so we should play games out there is a little shallow and low resolution. I don't think we'd get the results we are hoping for.

In short, juniors participation doesn't seem to correlate with ticket sales.

Very good post

It don't. Really matter what kids heritage is... At some stage in all their lives they don't know how to play RL.
Be he/she from Tonga. Samoa Kenya. Or syria

We won't be playing a t Campbo, so don't worry.
We won't be playing at Leichhardt either.
The man has spoken. He wants us in a stadium that holds 50000 and is good for the corporates.
Richo has said that embracing the South West doesn't necessarily involve playing games there.
It'll be Accor.

Hmmm not sure I agree with this ink. Not many Asian or Indian kids playing. The Chinese have been here since the gold rush days 🤣

Well demographics change over time etc.

The league is facing a number of threats.

Not just from other sports but a changing Australian cultural and social landscape.

A lot of kids, they like their on line games and social media. There’s almost no footy in the park like we used to play. Plenty of soccer I see anyway. Maybe some tip. But no mangling up against the wire fence we endured and enjoyed.. flying down the wing out of position of course.

And some of the so called role models out there, leave a lot to be desired. A series of self entitled flips. None of our ugly lot atm thank goodness.

I will definitely travel in Sydney anyway to an important match with friends, fans of other clubs. But ye old days of travelling to every game, it’s too costly and inconvenient.

When you’re about to be tackled near the fence, you have to position yourself so your back bounces off it and you curl up into the boxer defence position. Then you spring back at the defender.

Oh to be young again!

Not my way ! RL is absolutely 1st , 2nd , 3rd with football a distant way off , and afl a novelty , like playing gridiron when the Super Bowl is on.
My son is a huge gamer , and not very sporty at all , but he plays RL at lunch never fail, and has zero interest in watching it with me . There’s multiple games of footy happening at any given time .
Soccer is popular from age 7-12 because “mom doesn’t want little Johnny to get injured” once he gets a voice , and peer pressure kicks in , the dominant sport prevails .
Not to mention it’s proven by most high performance studies that playing as many sports as possible is the best thing for a kid , and specialising before teenage years is not only a waste a time , but statistically way more likely to have the opposite result that’s desired .
The best athletes in NSW and wild will naturally be drawn to nrl . AFL in other states .
Outside of participation numbers for sponsorships , bragging rights etc . Pre teen sports should be viewed as an all in approach IMO .

Best thing fans / members can do is keep filling up LO & CS on game day and spending $$ in the local businesses. Richo is clearly threatening these local govt areas that we’re about to pull a bucket load of cash out of your local area unless you put some polish on your stadiums. Inner West and Campbelltown would be crazy to take away NRL from their communities. 100% there will be a public backlash.
He doesn’t take the softly softly approach like old tracky dacks.
