Finding the comments really interesting. I haven't yet got into Stan or the like but am hearing here that this is the trend. I think there's something sad about everyone glued to their own device- everyone in the lounge room watching the tv was somehow more social. But my home is the same . I watch Fox sports, kids are in their rooms, online with their friends and my wife downloads movies etc. again, bit sad we socialise face to face less. Thought?
At mine the wife and I are actually more likely to watch things together and share shows because we can watch them anytime and our tv viewing can work around our lives. Previously we'd be less engaged with what each other were watching because you had to be ready at a set time.
Our almost two year watches ABC kids which is about the only time network tv is on
TV used to be fun, we would watch together and share conversation and emotions. Sitcoms were fun, the drama's. Reality TV has replaced fun shows like Hey Hey and I can't watch reality Tv. But there are still shows my wife and watch together and schedule our life around, like tigers games.
But I think the real change in our interaction is tablets and smart phones. Don't get me wrong I love technology, crap with it but love it. Younger kids, under 20 grew up with technology tablet and smart phones, my nieces and nephews can txt, email, brows the web quicker than I could put my shoes on and go out and play with friends (if we wore shoes) when I was a kid.
While they can't handle long conversations they are as sharp as and well versed, they are short and precise in their delivery however, not void of personality and humour.
