Yeh, I saw him get up gingerly from a heavy tackle.Wow this is devastating. Has anyone heard of a player sustaining this in the past? What a “tigers” injury to get…
Hats off to Charlie for powering on. Wish him well in recovery.
That’s not good to hear. How’s matty going now? Hope there’s no lasting effects for him.8-12 weeks seems ridiculously optimistic. Our young prop, Matty Lees, suffered exactly the same injury as Staines. It set him back twelve months.
He's back to his best. But it was a long and very difficult road. The moment the bowel is perforated the chances of infection are incredibly high. It took him a long time to get over the surgery and complications. He lost a huge amount of weight and it caused him to miss much of the pre-season six months later. And he suffered his at a similar age to Staines. I mean, Charlie might be fully healed in twelve weeks. But match fitness will be far more challenging. That’s not good to hear. How’s matty going now? Excellent news , hope they extend him for a couple more years , he’s worth keeping , seems decent guy toUPDATE - Charlie Staines is recovering well after undergoing successful surgery two weeks ago to repair a perforated bowel. He has a review with his specialist in the coming weeks, when a return to play date will be advised.
He fits on the wing and can fill in at fullback. Staines is exactly the quality of player we need in our club.I wonder where he fits in. Surely he has to fit in somewhere. He looked a class above all of our other backs when he was playing.
