Tamou: underlying issues

Tamou: We missed 40 tackles last week.

Tamou: needed to be addressed...

**So, why did Madge pick the exact same starting pack as last week?**

Correct, I blame Madge because he had more than enough time to fix our obvious issues: left side defence and replace underperforming players!
While L Lailua and Nofoaluma could be on occasion good in the attack, their defence cost us many more points. Also, if Talau lost his confidence (diplomatic expression  ), why is he kept in the team?
Why is our defence line waiting and leave the opposition to run at least 7-8 m before the first contact?

Seriously who would you replace them with? Our depth is woeful and it’s a major issue.

Talau
Liddle
Tamou
Jet
Pascoe
Luciano is one of my fave players but he's on thin ice for me lately

We need dockar-clay in the side asap

We need toughers, stronger, faster forwards

Docker Clay hasn't even played a first grade game ever

He has in Super league, but not NRL

Honestly what else would U suggest? Bring him in for Liddle and our attack would be very different

You thought attack was the biggest problem tonight?

Unfashionable as it may be,the fullback's defence is abysmal and hed be the first one Id drop tbh.Hes just not physical enough for NRL
Mbye doesnt wanna be there...need to set him free asap.
Talua isnt a NRL standard anything
and btw..Kenny is disappointingly slow
Backs are a mess

I wouldn’t be bagging Kenny just yet. Sure he’s not super quick but he is winger who can finish, can jump and on the end of any normal first grade backline will score a ton of tries….look at last week… look who he is outside of….

That entire right side had no idea. Luciano, Mbye, Roberts, and Nofo all looked like they'd never met each other. They were all defending in different patterns. At one point there was a 20m gap between Mbye and Roberts. What the heck!

Brooks and Seyfath tried their butts off. Don't know if anyone else can take any positives from that game.

Kenny isnt the major issue, but his lateral movement and acceleration are..well..as I said...disappointing.
At least he can tackle(tho he had one bad miss) and has reasonable hands

Winning football matches is the furtherest thing from the minds of these players.
As a collective they are happy just playing first grade and collecting cheques.

The good thing about Ken is he knows wing play. Like that run when he ran down the sideline. He knows what to do just seems to be slow at his execution. That can be fixed.

I have rarely commented after bad losses because emotion is rarely conducive to good thinking. This time I'm surprised at how calm I am but I think that's basically because I fully expected a bad loss.
The changes I would make tomorrow are:
1. Sack Maguire and hire Flanagan tomorrow. I don't care if he's a ratbag. The only rule for Flanagan would be he's not to break any NRL rules re salary cap, drugs etc;
2. Ensure Flanagan's coaching staff are top quality who could move up to the top job when Flanagan moves on;
3. Sack any player from the top 30 who's not expected to be a quality player next year e.g Talau, Mbye, Tamou etc etc.
It's time to make big changes. Another weak comment by Maguire about improvement will not suffice. We are stuffed and are worse today than we were two years ago.
I have had a total gutful of following a team who embarrass themselves and their fans week after week, year after year.

Yeh, gotta say I'm not sure about Laurie long term

Its the SHORT term Im more concerned about..he needs to go to Nathan Clearys "nutritionist"and put on 8 kgs!!

They did that with Owen Cragie early in his career. He ended up fat.

All these players deserve to be dropped along with Nofoaluma and Garner, Mbye back to the bench, but who do you replace them with that is the question, Zdc I don’t think is the answer

One of the truly bizarre elements of our club is that we rarely drop players and when we do they don’t have to do anything to earn a recall a week later.

I agree with these changes

Why is he defending out wide? He's probably too slow to be defending the centre, but is certainly too slow to be defending anywhere else.

Docker Clay hasn't even played a first grade game ever

Clearly has talent, but needs to be faster at everything to play NRL.

Far too slight. I don't see any lack of effort, just size and strength.

"Sack Maguire and hire Flanagan tomorrow. I don’t care if he’s a ratbag. The only rule for Flanagan would be he’s not to break any NRL rules re salary cap, drugs etc;"

In a heartbeat. When all else fails, go for the disruptor. He clearly has the ability to create a formidable side.
