Chris Lawrence let down by Tigers

You might find if a TPA was involved in Rowdys contract that they might pull the pin if Rowdy gets dropped

**Then we may be forced to cover the shortfall**

This is the last year of his contract as far as I know as well

Massively illegal under cap rules.

Yep

And I'd reckon at least half a dozen sides would be doing it at this present time

I'm sorry , but you can't be a clean skin and compete on a regular basis following the current salary cap regulations in the NRL

Just remember we wouldn't be forced to do anything. If a TPA stopped at worst (best?) it would probably open Lawrence up to breaking his deal early if he chose to do so.

i thought for the last few seasons - Wests Tigers let down by Chris Lawrence. But i know Chris wouldn't do that. He does his best.

Probably true but I remember Mark Gasnier left St. George to play French rugby because some of his TPAs didn't keep paying him. Maybe they are clean skins but I think it would have been massively obvious to the NRL if Saints had picked up the tab. I guess that there are ways around the cap rules but eventually the cheats would be found out a la Melbourne.

I'm pretty sure if Lawrence did have any TPA's they would have dropped him a long time ago. What value would he bring them?

We can't afford to keep him the next two season unless he pulls his weight. This off season under Smith is make or break for his career in the backs, and even then a backup spot in the forwards is far from guaranteed!.

At Lowes ….....

From the financial and results viewpoints we found out that we couldn't afford to keep Lawrence for the past two seasons but we still kept him in first grade. I doubt that he would be any better than any of the lower paid first grade second rowers we have at the moment. Unfortunately if we keep him for the next two seasons we probably would not be able to afford a new class centre until he leaves.

It must be hard for a coach to drop a guy with the talent of Chris Lawrence. Not many people in our team run as hard as him. I doubt many work as hard as him either.

To me, he genuinely looks disinterested and unmotivated to play- esp last season. Maybe it's the change of coaches or departure of his best mates- he just looks unhappy.

A change of scenery will do him and us a load of good tbh. He's still only 25?

Rowdy is coming into his 10th year in top grade…
Seriously, He's 25-26 and looks 35-36.... From all accounts, He's been a top level sportsman most of his life. I honestly think he's tired and almost done!! Not many kids survive 10 years of first grade NRL, If he doesn't perform well and above where he has been since 2010, He should bow out.... While he has a bit of pride left.
He doesn't even has enough footwork for a move to the back row...
His hands and timing has been shocking for quite some time, And his one on one defence is non existant.... Yeah, when he hits, he hits... What about the misses... Again and Again.
Flogging out of the line and leaving his winger posted at every opportunity.
I can't see him coming back anytime soon.

- Funny that since Rowdy has been struggling, So did Lote Tuqiri, And Benji Marshall... (The 2 guys either side of him) Since they have moved on they have come back into an acceptable standard of form... He hasn't, I just hope he isn't too pig headed or stupid to realise he done!!

It just never seems to sink in to some. The reason why Lote and Benji returned to some kind of form is because neither of them suffered debilitating injuries like Lawrence did. Lawrence's form as a result since is a result of him not being physically capable of being the same kind of player anymore, not because he's half arsing it. And you're right he needs to accept and realize it cos his old form is never ever returning.

I knew you'd be the first one to sqwark Gunners, Are you insinuating (Ever so subtly) that I don't know what I am talking about?
1: BOTH Lote and Benji have suffered injuries, Serious injuries…. And both worked hard and got back.
2: Lawrence played Rep football after the injury you so frequently refer to, And played reasonably well....
3: It's common knowledge his hammys and ankles are gone, It has absolutely nothing to do with his hip dislocation (Which many quality players have come back from)

Doesn't matter how good you are, If the guy beside you is ordinary, leaving you posted and constantly taking the wrong options. It will make you look ordinary, Both confidence and form will suffer.

NOW, I'm not saying either of the afore mentioned players were rubbish, And Lawrence is single handedly to blame. But the old saying "Hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by Turkeys" Aint around for no reason....

Lote and Benji suffered injuries, but i don't remember any of them being injuries where they were almost crippled. As far as ''many'' quality players coming back from a hip dislocation, idk, cos even Sheens said himself at the time it wasn't a common injury that he ever come across. Only one other player in recent memory has suffered a dislocated hip and that was Gareth Widdop, and he did come back largely unaffected, however his hip popped straight back in, which makes a difference. Lawrence had to be sedated. The guy was still screaming in pain when they put him in the ambulance outside the ground. His own father has acknowledged he'll never be the same again due to not having the physical capabilities anymore. People are wasting their time thinking he still has it in him to return to the player he was cos he can't.

He bloody can't catch and does stupid things like passing at the wrong time.. what has thay got to do with an injury?

Pretty sure Gavin Cooper dislocated his this year…. He came back OK, Was great in the Finals!!

As you say above, Confidence makes you do stupid things.
How confident would Benji and Lote have been with Lawrence in between them, Playing the way he has been...

I find it no coincidence that Benjis' form went downhill when we lost our best 2nd rower at the same time our centres went to crap. Give him some decent ball runners like Dugan and the likes, And he amazingly comes good again!!

I don't know how many times it needs to be pointed out by Rowdy played CAREER BEST football for Australia AFTER HE CAME BACK from the hip injury. ITS NOT HIS HIP. END OF STORY

Comparing injuries is like comparing elephants and chocolate biscuits

Widdop only missed about 8-9 weeks

Lawrence missed 15 if memory serves

Lawrence never had hamstring issues before the hip injury and the former baseballer who had it had hamstring issues if memory serves

You ask any Tigers player who the hardest working Tigers player is and the answer is Lawrence

Every one must admit Lawrence must go if he can't find his best , but I don't think anyone should question his endeavour or heart while trying to recover from the injuries

I like chocolate biscuits…...

Rowdy is the new Blair....Can only think of one absolute stinker against South's the second time round.....apart from that his form was OK...not brilliant and certainly not to the standard of his early career,,,,

Anyhow prepared to give everyone under a new S & C team a fresh start..

Hamstrings are notoriously hard to get over

Look at Justin Hodges and Nathan Buckley

No one could accuse either Brisbane or Collingwood of not having arguably the best S & C in either of their codes

Fair enough but I want him to stay. I think he will have a great season.
