CHRIS Lawrence can now hobble around without crutches for a few minutes at a time but remains uncertain about his NRL return from a shocking hip injury.
>
The Wests Tigers centre moved freely as he ran a LivePlayWork fitness session at Leichhardt Oval today.
>
And while Lawrence said his rehabilitation could not have been better, the best-case scenario is a return by no sooner than the middle of July.
>
The 22-year-old was unable to drive for a fortnight after he broke down against Canberra at the end of March and revealed he also had troubles tying his shoelaces.
>
"I'm still under the impression it will take three to four months to recover but I'll know more once I have scans in a few weeks time,'' Lawrence said.
>
"The rehab has been coming along well but I'm not a good spectator.''
>
Now Lawrence is well and truly out of the representative race he endorsed Jamal Idris, Mark Gasnier and Jamie Lyon as the leading centre candidates for NSW.
>
"Some people have also written off Michael Jennings but you can write him off at your own peril, he's so exciting to watch, explosive and can score from anywhere on field,'' Lawrence said.
>
Also at Leichhardt today were fellow injured winger Lote Tuqiri, Todd Payten (ankle) and skipper Robbie Farah, who brings up his 150th game against Brisbane on Friday, to help out with the clinic put on by Lawrence.
