CHRIS LAWRENCE TO MAKE AUSTRALIAN TEST DEBUT
5/11/2010 10:31:05 AM
Wests Tigers centre Chris Lawrence has today been chosen in the Australian Kangaroos Test team to play New Zealand at Eden Park this Saturday.
It will be the 22-year-old’s Test debut. Lawrence has been named in the centres with Wests Tigers team-mate Lote Tuqiri retaining his wing position.
Wests Tigers hooker Robbie Farah will come off the interchange bench. Farah made his Test debut during last year’s Four Nations tournament.
The selections of Lawrence, Tuqiri and Farah by Wests Tigers and Australian Coach Tim Sheens means they will come up against Wests Tigers five-eighth in Kiwi captain Benji Marshall.
Tuqiri will play his third Test match since returning from rugby union after turning in solid performances in the wins over Papua New Guinea and England.
Lawrence has previously represented the Australian Prime Minister's XIII team in 2007- 08 and City Origin in 2010 and is a strong chance of representing NSW next year. Lawrence will become the 771st player to represent the Kangaroos.
Congratulations Chris from everyone at Wests Tigers.
