Chris Lawrence to snub Dogs, stay Tiger

Does anyone know when his contract expires. I've heard it is at the end of next season. I think his retention should be at the top of the tree in terms of the club's recruitment and retention. I'm not sure if it's on another topic but it is pretty important.
Does anyone think Lawrence should be captain in the future, too?

From what I'm hearing, chris put off his contract extension negotiations earlier this year as he was wanting to see if he cracked the NSW squad.
Since he has now made the Australian side (finger crossed he gets a start) that may hasten negotiations. That is an assumption though. He may decide to wait until Origin time and see if he gets a call up for that as that will obviously raise his value even more.

However, if you believe Ron Burgandy, he already signed along with Willie Mason in May this year…

Fair enough. I love watching Lawrence play and hope he makes all of the rep sides, I think he should have at least been on the wing for NSW last series, but I hope he signs on sooner rather than later.
If e does make it in Origin come late May or June next year than the bidding war will be insane. He'll be hot property for sure.

Ive got a feeling nothing will be decided on until the re negotiatin of the TV cnotracts are finalised. The tv contract will increase the salary cap…plus maybe more other incentives, as the contract should be HUGELY upgraded. I believe Chris is a loyal kid and would love to stay, so hopefully this will give him some more $ in his bank. Ive also noticed he has done a few stints on the footy show, so maybe this maybe in his contract as a third party or something.

You'll find that most clubs would be already factoring in any rises into the contracts.
Now that could be done many ways. For example, players could sign a 3 year contract with a clause stating that if the cap was to rise by 20% then they would get a 20% rise automatically.

With the recent rise in the cap (4.1 to 4.8) the Wests Tigers were aware of the pending decision and started to include the extra room in new contracts. Now I'd assume that the clubs would be told pretty early by the NRL to expect a rough percentage figure increase in the cap from the new TV deal and to start planning for that. You'll find that Benji's contract already has clauses in it relating to any future cap increase.

As for chris, hopefully a successful stint for Australia will see him sign a new contract over Christmas and rev up for a killer season for the WT and NSW!

Spotted Chris having dinner at 'Tiger, Tiger' last Wednesday night. I was having a feed myself, food was great. Surely the club would already be factoring in Chris' retention as he is an important part of the team and you have to admire his dedication and toughness coming back early from a broken jaw.

Great player but I dont think that he will ever be captain. To many captaincy options with Farah©, Benji(vc) and I think Heghington would also make a great captain.

All of those guys are much older than Lawrence though. I could see Chris getting captaincy later down the track.

2016 at the earliest.
That's assuming Farah and Benji do not stick around beyond their contracted time.
Chris will be around 26/27 then.

I can definately see Chris being a future captain of the Tigers. According to his player profile he will be turning 22

next Tuesday (still soooo young). He already has a lot of leadership experience with his own business and he is

an excellent role model. I hope we sign him up for life! :wahoo:

Do you think he might be a bit young to come out of his shell yet? I'm assuming he's concentrating on playing good footy than worrying about being a loud voice on the field.

Hasler might be a fan of Lawrence but unfortunately for Mr Hasler, Chris Lawrence is a huge Tim Sheens fan.
