Even Bellamy couldn't turn this rabble around …with dud signings like a busted Mqueen and a headless chook in reynolds next season will be a rinse and repeat of this crap season ..

Good luck Cleary

You are full of it. Go follow another team. Snowflake!!!

:crazy :crazy :crazy :crazy

Col makes a good point. We aren't that bad. I don't see any reason to slit our wrists at the moment.

Taylor got them to what place last year? Cleary has got them where this year? It ain't rocket science unless you lack the ability to set aside your hatred of the former coach to see what is right in front of your eyes. :blah

Surely you are joking? You seriously aren't comparing last season to this based purely on ladder position are you?

No.

And yet Taylor had them a point out of the 8.

A point out of the eight with:
- Manly and the Roosters imploding in a way that will never be seen again.
- Parra deducted 12 points.
- The Knights fielding the worst team the NRL has seen for a decade (that recorded one win all season, against the Tigers).

If you think 2016 was one stop on the way to glory you are dreaming. Just look at the way the team fell apart against the Panthers and Raiders with their season on the line. Or how they started this season.

A change was needed, and it's come. The least fans can do is give the new coach a pre season with the dozen new players coming in before turning on him.

Not many other options left for Cleary to choose as McIlwrick is unable to play 80..

After having some doubts myself over Ivan… the past month has been a lot more positive in my mind...we are playing some good footy getting up the field and defending a lot better on our goal line..

Some simple errors and execution at the back end of sets still need a lot of work but it's coming...At the ground the energy was good and the kept playing for 80mins when in the past they would have turned it up and got beaten by 30 odd...

Well said Geo. Some people on this forum would boo Santa Claus.

You would have thought that we got creamed by 50 (like Manly). Lolo did not have one of his best games, but he will learn. Silly mistakes (again) were our downfall. I thought that they played pretty well.

The naysayers can go follow another team. I, for one, am sick of reading their crap every time we play. If we lose, we are crap. If we win, we are crap because we should have won by more. The players we have are crap, the players we do not even have yet are crap. The coach is crap. The club as a whole is crap. Management is crap. On and on.

Here's a thought:- get out of your Mothers basement and get a life.

:brick: :brick: :brick: :brick:

Even though we just missed out on the eight last year, the last game against the Raiders showed we were not a serious semi finals threat.

I reckon Cleary is doing a great job with a terrible team. The fact that he is getting big efforts out of Woods speaks volumes to me about his ability to motivate players. The decision not to strip Woods of the captaincy may have something to do with that.

I am sure if Cleary had better options than JLJ and Lovett than he would take them. Hopefully next year we can field a strong team each week that we can 100% get behind.

Let's look for the positives in our team and get behind them for the rest of the season.

Why can't McIlwrick play 80 min's ?? I'm not sure Liddle is big enough or strong enough to play 80 min's, he needs to build up his shoulder to be able to compete in the NRL. Why don't we go after the Mitch Rein he's stood in for Peter Wallace for a few weeks at Penrith, and scored a couple of times and had his had in few as well.

We didn't have very good 5th tackle kick options today, both 7 and 6 need to work on that part of the game, getting another set of 6 on their line helps when you can constantly put little grubber kicks into the ingoal area trapping them.

JLJ .. dropped the ball off a simple offload from Woodsy .. which unfortunately set the Parra field goal .. what he is doing in first grade is beyond me, can't run, can't tackle, can't pass, and can't catch the ball .. !!

Don't think starting with Ava on the bench helped us either .. we lacked go forward in the first half of the game. Which really means we need an impact player off the bench .. !!

Not many big name players with impact left on the "no contract list" for next season .. did someone mention Dave Taylor is on this list ?? What our thoughts on him ?? I've seen him up close here in Canberra and the man is "HUGE" .. hate to see his food bill.

McIlwrick can't play 80min as he has chronic knee issues bone on bone…Even when he was playing ISP at the Jets they had Kurt Kara giving him a spell...

Startting to become evident that JT wasn't the problem.

I'm starting to think you actually enjoy the team losing just so you can keep going on about JT. We lost by 1 point to a team firmly in the top 8\. We almost beat manly last week and they were coming 4th. We are blooding some great youngsters in marsters, twal and eisenhuth. Funny how you used to give it to the supporters because you thought they wanted a loss so they can get rid of JT. Your just as bad. Move on, JT is gone, was never a good coach and how about you get behind the team and move on from your JT obsession.

I agree the team even last week looked heaps better ,at least now they are completing for around 80 min.

Coach is doing ok ….our roster is ordinary ....... no depth have a look at results our lower grades are providing ...... some players promoted are not up to 1st grade standard.

Just need to keep the Ivan Cattle Drive going and get rid of as many of the dead wood that we can before next season.

I hope your right in changimg your doubts about Ivan mate.

I can see some things but have major doubts about others.

McIlwrick not being able to play 80 could have been covered another way then playing JLJ. For one, Matt seemed to be going strong when he was replaced, i believe he would have got through the 80, maybe not every week, but this week he still looked good. Secondly, a stop gap option of starting Elijah at 9 for 20 mins before moving him to an edge would have been more effective.

Also, we came up against an ex player who dogged us, a player who has been suspect defensively, and the edge backrower Cleary puts there to run at him is Lovett? That is a decision in itself that deserves questions. Yes Lawrence and Alioai out had us scratching at who to throw at Moses, but it had to be someone who could ice him if we got him one on one. Even switching Eljiah to the left edge would have at least shown he's trying to get at opposition weaknesses.

I dont see any specific things that have shown us Ivan has the ideas needed to dissect oppostions weaknesses and also play to our strengths.

I'll have to watch the replay…but the changes I can see over the last month or so and in this game there is a lot more intent in going through the middle 3rd rather than the tip on forward play on an edge...More emphasis on offloads getting some 2nd phase play with Tedesco/Naiqama/Nofoaluma sniffing around the ruck..

The 2nd man play out the back which had become so predictable is being hardly used any more ..the couple of times they tried it today ..it almost came off with Radradra I think it was knocking the ball down with Nofoaluma unmarked with a 10m run to the tryline..

Defensively Cleary hasn't changed much especially on the right edge with there number counting still abysmal but defence is 90% about attitude ..I think it has improved over the past month and the scramble was good today..Eels made plenty of line breaks but only came up with 3 tries..How much of that can be put down to Cleary hard to say but they certainly appear to be playing more for each other...

I have no issue with Cleary, actually I'm a big fan. But if Taylor was the problem, why have we only won 3 games since he was sacked?

Would have thought the big 3 drama would have something to do with that.

Cleary is getting exactly what he deserves for keeping a team with a terrible roster competitive week to week.
That'll do me what more do we expect when we play
Lovett, JLJ, Kev, MCK.

To be fair if Aloiai, Sue, Lawrence, Liddle and Suli were available one would think that JLJ, Lovett and MCK wouldn't have been in the team today
