They're all players who were entering the final year of their contracts and had signed with other clubs for the following year. If we approached him in 2019 and signed him from 2020 onwards then sure, he might get a release to join us in 2019\. He's not going to get a release years early though and I'm not even sure we're allowed to talk to him about a contract in 2020 this early…
I think you are arguing with a plank…You are 100% correct Clubs can not enter into negotiations with players until the final year of their current contract...
I guess players can request releases prior for what ever reason but I haven't heard Gutherson is unhappy at the Eels...maybe happy knows something other don't..
