OFFICIAL Club discussion with Shaun Mielekamp

Well just seen again a team that can’t attack , but cant get out. O f their own 20 to 50 mtr area just reeks of no idea in attack, no confidence , lost completely , this is a sign. For me that th e boys are so confused now with sliding doors of plaeyers like Luai going , are the boys. Divide in the. Group , we looked like we were worn out before we started

@ShaunMielekamp Good on you Shaun for getting on here and facing the fans. Ballsy. You can see the frustration and diversity of views from the forum. It’s hard being a Tigers fan. It actually affects mental health at times. We’ve seen the effects of mid season drama the last two years and its impact on team performance. We all hope next year we can have a season free of drama and bad press. Please be the one to change the club’s culture of mediocrity.
The mid season distractions are getting farcical.

Terrell May and Jahream Bula were both recently given major contract upgrades and extensions and are now both being paid above 900k per season by Wests Tigers.
This was all endorsed by Benji who asked/demanded to have full control of all rugby league related matters including the recruitment and retention.
This is a much bigger issue and concern than anything to do with the Luai issue.
So who is at fault, the club board for giving Benji all this power and control or the club board itself?
Many say the club board itself as it has now been happening over and over for the past 15 years and therefore the club board need to take plenty of blame, but they have to put their trust in somebody and currently that person is Benji.
I am not suggesting we churn through another coach and go through yet another total rebuild, but the onus has to be on Benji to put his hand up and own the fact he has been getting plenty wrong regarding recruitment and retention, which leads to the playing roster and matchday team selections.
There are certain players in the current NRL team that are way overrated, some who keep being selected that are simply not good enough to be regular NRL players and some that are certainly not ready for the weekly grind of playing NRL each and every week.
This being the case it’s not possible to win games consistently and be consistent over a full NRL season.
The playing roster needs a major review and major overhaul to ensure none of our underwhelming players keep their positions in the NRL team if they are not playing up to NRL standard.

I will add that unlike Terrell, Jahream has tried really hard over the last couple of weeks and is doing some things such as digging into the line much better than he has ever done before.
The problem with Jahream is certainly not lack of effort or commitment, he simply is not good e ough to have the pressure of being a marquee player.
That being said, there is little doubt Jahream can and will contribute much better than he has recently had the opportunity to do once we get a better quality team around him iwhich needs to include some other fast and tackle busting backs

If only Benji had an experienced premiership winning administrator to lean on.

It is not that complicated to understand you have to be extremely careful as to what players you pay big money to and overpay, understand you need NRL quality back in every position, understand you need a certain amount of intimidation amongst your forwards, understand you need a certain amount of tackle bust ability and speed within your team at all times?
These are just the basics, do you really need a genius administrator to explain this?

I love how the NRL team ground is the focus, but NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg plays out of Lidcombe.

Harold Matthews and SG Ball out of Kirkham Oval and Lidcombe.

They train out of Concord.

Why is the NRL team even a discussion when the juniors don't even play at Campbelltown?

Start with the juniors grounds if you want to discuss juniors.
Agree. I mentioned that earlier.
Ok. Dump Leichhardt. Change the club to the Magpies and go all in on your plan.

Watch how quickly the club is destroyed, just as they destroyed the Magpies. The same people are involved mate...they don't know what a successful club looks like.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to sit here and drink the South West Koolaid. These guys would have been voted out by the members in any other club, but we have to watch Western Suburbs slowly put the Magpie stamp on everything.

You are watching your club being taken over by Western Suburns Magpies/Wests Ashfield in real time. Wake up.
PMSL you struggle with comprehension? Where did i say Magpies?

Surely if the CEO decides to interact with the forum, we as a whole can treat this thread differently to the others by giving it the respect it deserves and keeping it to the point.

We can all [This word has been automatically removed] and moan elsewhere.
Agreed. He’s not going to react to emotion. He’ll empathise but that’s it. So far we’ve had people questioning him on team selections, suggesting replacements for Benji, and someone in the signings thread even tagged him in a tweet about a Warriors playing going to November 1. He’s here to provide surface level feedback on general club operations. Not to answer invasive questions or take suggestions on players the club should chase 😅

I do agree with you. I’ve deleted and re written my response 3 times. It’s just that we’re hurting 😢

I think 15 years of no finals and being the laughing stock of the NRL negates this…
No Wests Tigers fan is happy with what has been dished up over the past 15 years, but if anyone wants to express dissatisfaction they need tj have some idea of what changes we are wanting to make and how those changes will improve our onfield results.
At the moment Benji has been handed the keys so to speak. He is in control of all our major rugby league related decisions such as recruitment and retention which I understand his request based on a difference of opinion with our previous recruitment manager in Scott Fulton who delivered us the Fainu brothers and recommended others such as Kaio Weekes.
Whatever spin anyone wants to put on it, we cannot expect to make the top 8 with our current playing roster which is simply not good enough.
We have some good players, but not a balanced NRL team in way of size, speed, power, athleticism and aggression or intimidation factor.

I wish we had Kaeo weeks over Bula we would be so much better in attack

We can't have nice things.

Don't be rude...I'm saying that is the natural progression...may as well fast track it.

Imagine saying to your fan base the South West is our future...I guess that means the inner west has no future according to our club.
