Club fraccas shouldnt effect our coaching candidates

the NRL is the pinnacle of rugby league, so an opportunity to coach at this level would not be looked over lightly because of a few in house dramas.

at the end of the day, we are an NRL club with a decent playing roster. for an incoming coach, they look at the potential in the players, their resources and their pay check. alot of the club rubbish a good coach will ignore (as hasler did at manly for years).

i'd be very surprised if the announcement is not someone 'up to the forums standard'.
 
My only concern, mtd, is that with all the hoo-ha about financial problems on top of having to pay out Sheens' contract we won't be able to afford a decent, experienced coach unless they're willing to work for peanuts.

Sheens coaching the Warriors is our only hope of getting out of this without paying his contract, so if he doesn't get a 1st grade coaching gig with another club he's just gonna hang around our club picking up the big bucks but in a stress free roll.
It will mean we are gonna have to settle for a low budget coach , exciting times….

the money wont be an issue. its not as if we are talking about paying wayne bennett $50,000 a year..
we are talking about potential ESL coaches or assistant NRL coaches earning around $200,000 a year..
i dont think its a bad a situation as some are thinking.

marshall is contracted till 2015.
pretty sure some of these twitter accounts are just trolls.

Sadly, I think that ship has already sailed. The Warriors made it clear that they wanted Sheens and I'm pretty sure he would've jumped at it by now if he was actually interested. Perhaps if another Sydney based club needed a coach he might have taken up the offer, but moving base to a whole new country and having to travel long distances to play your games, more often than not, would put many off, I reckon. Personally, I think he's nuts not taking it, though. The Warriors were grand finalists only last year, they play exciting footy when they're on song and have some great young talent in the ranks - they would certainly be one of the more attractive teams to take on, imo.

Worst rumor ever, my mate is bro in law to Dragons official. They're pushing ahead with Price, and tbheyll announce Bronson Harrison as a signing.

I really can't see him leave Melbourne , i personally think when Smith , Slater and Cronk resigned they would have assurances from bellamy that he was gonna be around for a while yet and made a pack to stick together, thats only my opinion .
But money talks all languages so who knows , would take him many years to build the Dragons would have to start from scratch as many players have moved on.
 
Reading this thread, something occurred to me. The new guy is going to be expected to perform.
Clearly 10th will not be acceptable, he will inherit virtually the same team as was touted 2012 premiers, plus new players and boom youngsters and will have to perform better that sheens this year.
Everyone wants Brown or Folkes or Anderson or Elliot, or even Bellamy, but if you look at the way the Sheens saga had played out, particularly the apparent sneaky way his job is being manipulated to get out of paying him, Throw into the mix that clearly the key players have too much say, how is a coach going to make the tough calls, why would any of these guys come here.
Even if all this is supposition, what confidence would any of these guys have that if WT comes in 14th they wouldn't become the water boy.
This makes me think we are going to get someone untried and cheap.

they would come here because if they get dropped, they will still earn $500k a year (or whatever the salary) as a waterboy, and still get an opportunity to work with a solid playing roster at an NRL club. it's not as if we don't have talent - sheens just didnt manage it as he probably should have.

Stephen Kearney has admitted he was unprepared for his first stint as an NRL head coach at Parramatta.

Kearney, who will join Brisbane as assistant coach for the next two seasons, was sacked by the Eels in July after an unhappy two seasons in which he managed just 10 wins from 42 games as coach.

But the New Zealand Test coach has recovered from those tough times to be named as an assistant to Anthony Griffin at the Broncos to replace the outgoing Allan Langer on a two-year deal.

Kearney said he could put his difficult experience with Parramatta to good use at Brisbane.

"I had five years with Craig Bellamy at the Melbourne Storm and after that I thought I was ready for the chance to be a first-grade coach," Kearney told News Limited.

"But I bit off more than I could chew with Parramatta".

Which is why someone like Mick Potter would be a lot better than an untried coach. I can see some potentially good things with say Walters, but Potter would bring vauable head coach experience to the club.

Thats why a big fat no to Parish is a must,and maybe Walters as well,Potter or Brown for me.
 
Why is it a definite no for Parish but only a mayby no for Walters when Parish has significantly more experience
 
Walters is getting pushed by some Queenslanders. I agree, neither Parish nor Walters seem to be that good, but you never know.
