Clubs fight over the next Benji

The club is on a hiding to nothing here.

Martin is a superstar in the making, not just a good player or someone you move to centre. He is the real deal.

However the club has chosen Brooks and Moses.

Austin and Martin will put plenty of pressure on that decision, good luck to them both!

Great…so we spend the money and time to develop him and get absolutely nothing for it. No player to replace him and no cash to compensate us for the development. What a joke.

The incentives for developing juniors in the NRL are miniscule. Clubs get no discount for re-signing developed or local players. They get no transfer money for moving a player on to another club and no player of equal talent or lower salary as we would if we traded. I really think we've taken the wrong path heavily investing in kids. By the time they're ready, such as Martin, we won't be able to afford them.

Well said..exactly my thoughts

To be honest Martin doesn't impress me that much. I might be wrong but just my opinion. I'd rather stick with Moses.

Exactly. Can somebody tell me the point of bringing Martin into NYC getting him ready for first grade if the club always had brooks and Moses in mind. They should of just let some other club take him from highscool right? Is this bad management?

Yeah so instead let's just have a hopeless 5/8 in the 20s. No need to have a good half to develop centres. In fact let's just throw our toys out of the cot whilst we are there

Whats our investment in Keebra Park,

Seems crazy to put that time and effort into Keebra and not have pathways for the players we produce.

People are saying a top centre is our priority and one of the reasons being offered up as to why we cant afford to keep Martin.

If so where does that leave Seve.

These guys would be the two best prospects to come out of Keebra since Marshall and we could quite possibly have no pathway for either of them.

The club really has some issues.

Seve re-signed for next year

Martin's mate Liolevave re-signed.

Yeah as did Heleta and Seve….both centres with a pathway to NRL

You have to remember the important thing salary cap, if you go over and over spend you will be repeating history as it has been known from previous management, the club is still kind of paying for it today.

This is the problem with the current system - why should we waste our time and resources grooming these players for other clubs to pick the cream - we currently sit in the bottom 4 and will struggle again next year yet we are grooming a host of potential superstars that would more than likely have this club as a top 4 club for years - but it won't happen because they won't be here.

I think all three of them are going to be special players and we've already got Brooks and Moses signed to long term deals.

How many clubs have three first grade quality PURE halves on the books? Bulldogs? Cowboys? Notice how the Dogs are gonna lose Hodkinson and the Cowboys won't be re-signing Lui. Mbye and Morgan are also pretty capable in other positions too. You just can't halve three halves because other clubs need them.

Some clubs have guys you can throw in the halves at a pinch but Moses, Te Maire and Brooks are halves alone and sadly we've already got our ducks in a row for the next 2 and a half seasons.

the a Jury's still out on whether we have three quality halves as well. Despite what their fans keep saying , I still haven't seen any signs that we do.
There's a hell of a lot of wishful thinking going on .

team comes first, individual comes second, its the nature of the beast every player has to bide their time that's what makes successful teams, just like the storm for ie slater is their no.1 fullback but they have that munster kid he could of went to another club with more money and more opportunity but he probably stayed at the storm because its a good team to play for coz yet get to play with the smiths, cronks and also a good coach bellamy.

It's sad but we're destined to lose Martin. It's sad because he's definitely a class first grader in the making. This is why I wrote a post suggesting he be moved to centre, trialing in NSW Cup first then blooded in the NRL next year. But, of course he is and wants to be a play making five eighth. The suggestion of moving Moses to fullback and Tedesco to centre in order to make room for Martin has weight but, unfortunately, we don't have the bucks to match the other offers and he will move on.

another piece of professionalism from the Tigers.
Let's move the one young guy that has proved he is a first grader, and one of the best fullbacks in the Comp, to fit in someone else who is having a big enough job to convince anyone whose not a rusted on fan , that he's even ready for first grade player in his own position. Another piece of thinking straight from the Sheens selection text book

You have to wonder why the Titans haven't approached Keebra Park in an attempt to take this nursery away from WT - the answer is they don't want to and nor do most clubs in the NRL. They know that if they do so they will have to invest time and resources in developing a number of players who may or may not make it at NRL level. For every 4 they invest in they may find 1 who is good enough to reach the top. Why bother when you can just sit back, wait for some other club to waste their money on the 3 who aren't going to make it and pay the big bucks that you have saved to buy the one who will make it.

I think its got to do with loyalty I think, because I think keebra approached a few clubs broncos, titans and maybe other clubs back in the day when they were nobodys but I think they all turned down except the tigers, so I think they been with tigers ever since, I think that's the story but Im not fully sure.
