Sorry AHX it was tongue in cheek to a degree , but watching the Storm backline and how fluid it is and knowing that Kevvie runs the attack it makes you dream a little (well a lot actually)

On the subject ,do you think the Storm have fewer issues with the obstruction rule because they are so much quicker with their ball movement and their players are moving much faster ??

Would explain the Tigers problems with the obstruction rule to a degree

Well apparently he sees NSW cup as higher than NYC and Naiyaravaro is there and Nofo is in NYC so I put 2 and 2 together.

I read something along these lines during the week, can't remember Potter's exact words but he referred to 'problems' promoting U20's where boys then have to play against men and how the leap isn't as big for those promoted from state cup. At least that's my interpretation of what Potter said.

It's off topic but Pettybourne is not a big man.

he isn't and he may not bend the line too much but he has a go in defence, needs more game time imo.

at the moment on what i have seen hes worse than tim sheens we have had twi off our worst performances in four games takes me back tothe terry lamb days hope im wrong but at the moment im yet to be convinced northern eagles and newcastle ganes were absolutely terrible

Pretty sure Potter was quoted in Thursdays telegraph saying he won't be picking guys out of u/20's.
I was one of Potters biggest fans going into the season but its slowly fading. Nofoaluma has been in fantastic form and being on the wing wouldn't be as big a step up as being in the forwards. And hasn't Buchanan gone straight to firsts from u/20's, in the toughest position to step up from?
This combined with bringing on Iosefa Thursday night has me worried.

We are the same side lacking any form of consistency.

The difference is other sides have gotten a lot better over the off season.

There are 6 really strong contenders for this years title, three maybes and the group that we are in, the no chance in hell group.

I like the direction the new coach has moved us but we do not have the cattle to make it work especially in light of our forwards injuries and the tragic loss of Mosese.

I will judge Potter on 2014 and beyond when he has some troops and staff of his own choosing

Having a look how Penrith are going with their purchases this year I am not sure Mick Potter is going that bad with the team he inherited , I think we need to cut him some slack, I was resigned to having an average year anyway as he is a rookie coach, so I dont know why so many are up tight this early in the season. Considering we are still hamstrung with Tim Sheens wages is there a better alternative? :crazy

While I agree with the comments that our attack was poor and our defence is questionable, I think there is something Potter can fix more easily.
If you go through the video from the first half against Manly, you will find the following results from Benji’s kicking:-

1. Grubbers on zero tackle, for which the right-hand side attack was
lined out for running the ball, so the kick just gave the ball away.
2. Grubbers on the third, giving the ball to Foran 5 metres out.
3. Marshall’s kick at goal fails.
4. Bomb from 32 metres out caught by Reddy 15 metres out, when it should land on the goal-line.
5. Bombs from 48 metres out. No Tigers within 16 metres when
Stewart catches the ball 2 metres out.
6. Marshall grubbers and forces drop-out
7. Bombs from 15 metres out, but Tigers slow to ball and Manly
catches 1 metre out.
8. Kicks long from 55 metres and the ball stops in the in-goal.
9. Takes penalty kick but only gains 17 metres.
10. Bombs from 22 metres out, caught by Reddy 10 metres out.
11. Penalty kick 55 metres from Manly line fails to find touch.

Rocks and diamonds.

Farrah’s kicking was better than Benji’s and on some occasions it appeared that the Tiger’s players did not know Benji was going to kick, because they were slow to react.
Work on kicking with the kickers may get improvements more quickly.

And the other point that Mighty Maggy brought up the zero tackle play v Manly ,why kick it to your slow wing and or why not make it look like a run play and Moltzen chasing hard and being on the fly and flat ??

I reckon this was something Marshall called himself ,not Potter , and I hope this gets added to Benji's errors for the season

Thank you MM for putting down the actual data that I have had gut feeling about for some time.

Bottom line is that out of 11 kicks only #6 and 8 get a good result, the rest are not a good result and some are an outright negative.

If the coach is fair dinkum Benji should not be kicking except for the odd occasion where he grubbers for support that know the kick is on. Otherwise leave it to Farah, Miller and Anasta - including goal kicking.

Like any other aspect of individual play, this should be performance based and not based on doing it because your name is Benji.

Individually I think Nofo is the better player but the competition in NYC & State is still a lot different, coming from NYC to NRL is a big step, atleast States to NRL is a smaller one.
