Coach Potter

Do you really think he thought we could win last night? It may sound like a stupid question but I dont think he did. I feel he thinks we wont challenge the top sides.

There was experimenting in the game last night. Iosefa for Farah, Tedesco to fullback, Ayshford to left wing, Fulton to right centre. Sorry coach but thats what trials are for.

I like him. I really do. I think he will be a very good coach. I like the way he has changed our structure. But he doesnt have the cattle at the moment. Was he trying to prove that point last night? On the tv coverage he was laughing in the sheds before the game. When interviewed before the game he wouldnt even say then that Tedesco was playing.

I believe he has a few tricks up his sleeve. He will name the same line up next week against the Storm. Ava will play instead of Iosefa who should NEVER play 1st grade again. He knows we will more than likely lose and his point is proven again. He will make changes for the game against the Dragons. We will be 2 from 5 going into the Dragons game and I think at the moment he is going with the incumbents and experience.

I have no inside info. This is just a gut feeling. But the backline for the Dragons game may see,

1.Tedesco
2\. Korobiete (Reddy because Koro will still be injured)
3\. Ayshford
4\. Simona
5\. Nofoluma
6\. Marshall/Anasta
7\. Anasta/Marshall

The pack will be similar to what we have now and I would have BMM replace Anasta in secondrow with a bench of Bell, Pettybourne, Ava and Thompson.

Thats what I believe we will see and with some big desicions to be made on who we keep for next season and who we buy.

I'm a big fan of Simona.
A few posts I've seen people are ruling Lawrence out…??

The commentators last night were talking him up saying he should be left at centre to progress but honestly, he is just getting worse.

I one for one believe Simona could do a better job at this point in time.
Would love to see it tried out, let Lawrence have a play in reggies for a while.

Although I am not sure if the players you have mentioned will get a run that soon, but these are the changes I am hoping will occur this year - rebuilding!

Personally I am happy that he tried a few things.

He has been blasted for taking Farah off after half an hour - which was strange in the context of the game and how he has played all season - however if masada comes on fresh and makes a few big plays before a refreshed Farah comes back on pulls out a few big plays of his own people would be lining up to call him a genius.

Tedesco at Fullback - he was always going to get a run there, and personally I find it funny that everyone was screaming for him on the wing all week and when he gets a run there a few trys are scored done his side it was the worst move in the world.

We have to remember we have a new coach who came in late with a squad not of his own making. We will be seeing try a few things all season and it has been obvious despite two wins that we have a few problems to fix so why not try a few things early in the season

Whilst a big fan of his appointment based on his track record,Im starting to get a little concerned about Potter tbh, although its very early days & quite frankly he inherited a total basket case from Sheens(only two established props,no half back, one winger ,a ""superstar""(!) who totally overvalues himself(no6)etc etc
What Im looking for from Potter is logical, commonsense decision-making ,plus signals that the team & individual performances are actually improving.
Im not seeing it.
Hauling Farah off last nite at a critical stage of the game was plain dumb & conceding the game was lost at 4 nil(what sort of message does that send?)…constantly picking Anasta and Fulton as the 2nd row pairing doesnt make any sense whatsover..but giving Miller a good run at no 7 I applaud,& punting Utai from the wing removes a defensive liability. So his selection decisionmaking is at best mixed IMO.
Im not seeing any improvement in defence(Royce, who he's probably stuck with?) ,& of our big $$ players Benji is just as laconic & unwillling to take on the line as ever,Blair is as undisciplined as he was last year(if not moreso),Lawrence isnt delivering,& I actually dont see many changes in structure or style whatsover.Groundhog day for moi at this stage.
It takes time, but am a little frustrated by the lopsided scorelines ,& wonder whether the coach has already written off 2013..?Cld u imagine Bellamy having that perspective?
Jury is very much out Mr Potter.

At this stage Potter is heading for the disappointment of the season award for no imagination and no courage as a coach.

Chill people.
It's round 3.
None of us like to see the team lose, or perform below expectations.
Did you really think we would beat Manly? Really??
For mine, expectations are too high. This team was left in a total shambles and is a work in progress.
Most of these boys have been playing the same way under the same coach for most of their careers so they will of course fall into the same old patterns for some time. Some others were brought in by that coach and really don't fit that well.
The new coach can't sack half the team or change all this in a few rounds, maybe not in a season but I will reserve judgement until midway this season, such is the task ahead of Potter.

In the meantime all I ask is that he loses that part down the centre of his hair, or wear a cap.

Watching the game tonight ,maybe we should have got Kevvie Walters

no way.
have faith in Potter
just buy big forwards, Benji wont have to run as much.
Isnt it simple.
i mean george rose right now could be playing first grade elsewhere.

I like Potter as a coach, but he is stuck with some of these players, the only one he had a say in would of been Gavet. Why he took Farrah off last night only he knows as we were very competitive @ that point, When he went off even blind Freddy could see Marshall has to do much more work & then over calls Miller. He has to change our 2nd row around & maybe start with Pettybourne & Thompson & Blair @ lock, this gives us more size & go forward.

True mate. Got my rounds mixed up trying not to freak out like everyone else - but have been thinking the above since about Rd 3!

Thing is we have no idea what goes at Concorde or what the coach's reasons are for doing what he does. But I am willing to bet it is probably more complex than we think, rather than being more simple.

Ye, it's a simple game and all that. But improving this team will take a lot of time and patience is needed.

wasnt Pettybourne made to look small last night?
More or less, he bounced off their forwards.

It's off topic but Pettybourne is not a big man.
