Coaching tactics

Our attacking structure is fine. When we actually have quality ball we are able to break down opposition defences quite well. The problem is we never get quality ball. We are always working the ball off of our own line.

Still play to flat especially when we’re behind
Can’t get a repeat set to save our lives
Pack has no offloads
Pack has no sting in defence

But attacking structure is fine .....
Ummm 🧐

Can Shane Millard coach?
I don’t know that Maguire can.
Oops I’ve said it

Well, his premiership ring says otherwise... Not a Maguire lover but how you can question whether a premiership winning coach can coach is beyond me

I'm certain they're not playing the way they are trained. There's no structure out there at all. I suspect Madge has the world's best trainers but come game day...the game plan is shelved.

It's so hard to tell what is coached and what isn't.... but SURELY they aren't being coached to run around like headless chooks in attack and not put any plays on at all.

Just way too unorganised out there and that goes down to the spine. No one taking control particularly brooks

Different players but playing the same way. The common denominator is the coach.

Pretty much sums it up - no direction out there, no ability to adapt. Just proves how stupid some people really are.

But they didn't play this way at all last year, our attack was miles better, I don't see the coaches intentionally moving away from that and wanting us to run no plays and sit super flat every tackle.... just doesn't make sense.

Ignore the top part of the post thought I deleted it lol

Why was Liddle off the field for so long?
That is a terrible coaching decision

But Madge can't win, last week everyone was saying Liddle is not an 80 minute player and it was a bad choice to leave him out there...

I am not sure how to motivate this rabble but I think hooking players and holding them accountable would be a great start.
You screw up, you get replaced. No one is guaranteed a start next week. I don’t care if they have to replace them with the NSW Cup ball boy, they couldn’t do worse.

Then Madge needs to understand the flow of a game.

Last week he was struggling and needed to be replaced but not this week.

HIA I believe

Fox asked the question and were told it was a planned replacement.

I don’t have a problem with that but he was off for such a long time.

By the time he got back on the game was over

Madge has some massive issues on his hands.

Yep. Our go forward looks good but our attack is non-existent.

Our go forward today was shocking.
1 forward made 100meters, the roosters had 7...
The forwards didn’t roll their sleeves up when we needed them.

We look good for 20-30mins and ran out of puff.

Madge talked about defense... we have had good defense for 60mins of 160mins. Our tatics with the ball in hand are absolutely killing us.

Our metres were low because we didn’t have the ball. Team with all the ball gets the metres. I thought the forwards were mostly pretty good but when your half just kicks the ball away and your outside backs refuse to tackle, this kind of thing is going to happen.

He might have won a million premierships but I couldn’t care less. He’s taken a team that was struggling and made them worse.

Marshall last year was still decent in attack...

Ah okay yeah thats pathetic mate because mbye not a hooker

Don't want to start a forum melt down but Benji was our go to man for attack. Not saying we weren't wrong in not offering him another year as his defence was bad and getting worse. No one stepped up today in attack except Laurie. Reminds me of Hodgson. Even he gave up in the end. Last roosters try(from memory) no one supported him in the bomb. Maybe time to get the young guys in. Give Joey and Gartner a spell in CC and bring in Madden and Simkins a go. They can't do any worse.

I’m convinced the only coach who could turn the club around is Bellamy. But then again....I don’t know. Talk about a poison chalice

It’s not a question of tactics. It’s a question of roster depth and what we do with it.
Depth is having an Animal like Sebastian Kris waiting to cover centre. It’s not having Talau or Chee Kam as our back up options. This rot is going to take years to fix.

He basically said in the press conference that they knew and trained for what the roosters were going (and outlined it) to do but they didn’t do it.

Well, then I guess we can turn this topic around to read "Are the players playing for this coaching staff?"

We had the ball enough.
For our starting forwards to only hit the ball up 5-6 times with 46% of the ball, tells a story on effort. Stefano managed to hit 10 runs & his effort was good enough for most to put him in the top 3.

All our forwards need to show effort & hunger to roll the sleeves up. They failed today.
