Coincidence ??

Looking at the Qld teams struggling at the moment dose anyone else wonder why any talented Qlder all of a sudden are home sick or other personal problems some serious others no so.
Is this a re-occurring theme,am I being cynical or is it a call to arms from Qld teams to all Qlders especially the good ones

Yes I am not really happy about the whole debacle.

If you sign the contract when your not at the top of your game, become a superstar, then feel I want to go home, or elsewhere.

In the case of Milford and barba, they should sit out the remainder of the contract as Tallis has.

If it really means that much to them to return home, they should have no problem doing this.

If not, it's probably just a desire or preference not a necessity.

They should be allowed to return home - what Canberra is doing to Milford is appalling in my opinion. His father is sick/dying and they're not letting him return home. Barba wants to be with his kids, and that's fair enough too. If players ask for a release, I think they should be granted them generally.

Considering both senarios have more than likely been created by their Managers, its just lucky for the Qld Based Franchises in some way…

I know you very rarely see this happening in reverse, but seriously, why wouldn't you want to come home to Queensland?

Canberra also reported to have allowed him to return on compassionate leave but to remain contracted, so he can't play for the broncos. Not sure how true that is, but it would be a fair solution. Broncos shouldn't benefit from it.

It may be a coincidence, it may not. But i think the best way to solve the problem is to force the club signing the contracted player to pay a 25% transfer fee per year that is included in their cap.

Example, if Barba is getting $400k at the dogs, the Broncos have to pay the dogs $100K per year to secure the release. That transfer fee is then included on top of the contract they have agreed to with Barba.

At least in this case there is a reward for the club that is losing a player they have developed. They also need compensation for the fact they have not been able to plan their recruitment around losing a player they thought was signed for another 2 years.

If players don't want to get stuck at a club away from home they shouldn't take the money and sign long term deals. I feel sorry for their situation but the club needs to be considered as well.

Raiders have a Q Cup team.

Compassion is still keeping him under contract and allowing him to be based out of Qld with his father while playing Q Cup.

It's pretty simple, if they are that desperate to get out of their contract, they should sit out the remainder of their contract.

Tallis had no problem, doing this.

If your reasons for leaving are so strong, a season on the sidelines is nothing in the scheme of things!

The NRL want the exciting players on the field each week. They are in the Entertainment business!!!

If this was a slow lazy Prop, no one would care!

Yeah but you don't know the situation ? Are his parents living there on the grounds that (they are only there to be by there son's side ) if his old man is dying they have to do the right thing morally and release him .
Yeah Canberra might be disadvantaged but his only going to go at the end of next season anyway , when his contract is up .

Bones nailed it- transfer fees must apply.

This also works with the Dugan, Carney, Lui scenarios- suspend them rather than sack them. If another club wants them, they must pay the transfer fee.

Raiders used to have Souths Logan Magpies as a feeder, until recent rule changes meant Canberra needed to field a side in NSW Cup. Contractually Raiders players cannot play for Souths Logan as it stands.

It's funny how Milford wants out of the remainder of his contract because dear old dad is pretty crook.

He is still playing in the ACT now isn't he? So his dad is ok for now but will need Milford by his side sometime next year?

I would be at my old man's side right now if he was that crook.
