Again, totally ignoring that it was Pascoe that signed the coach that walked out. A coach who had done that before.

That's fine, can we also please sack the Souths CEO for Seibold walking out, Manly CEO for Barrett not seeing out his contract, Penrith CEO for culling Hook early, Titans CEO for hiring Brennan.

Also dump the whole Tigers Board because they ratified Pascoe's recommendation to hire Cleary.

Im not really concerned about other clubs TBH but did they all cheat on the cap too?
You got the flowers for him tmw?

What are you talking about, practically every club has breached the salary cap in some form or another in the past decade.

To the extent of a 6ook salary cap penalty? Practically every club?

You mentioned Souths CEO. So answer this.

If, Richardson had Souths playing out of 5 home grounds, then signed his mate a coach, who then buggered up their cap for a couple of years then left mid contact, then Richo cheated the cap that buggered up the cap even further. What would Rusty be saying? What would souths fans be saying?

Reading all this is so funny - i long for the days when the boys could have a bit of face slapping before the game and if you thought one of your teammates wasn't putting in you could lay a few on his jaw. None of this 40 minute warm up before the game. The days when the coach could call a player out the back of the grandstand to settle a dispute over where he should he play. When a reserve could be called over the PA to join the team as he is sitting on the hill enjoying his second pie and third beer. Back when you may have had a beer with the opposition after a game but you never had a laugh and a conversation after they had just put 40 on your team. When tackles were meant to show your superiority without getting a penalty for driving an opponent in to the ground. When you could throw a punch knowing that you were going to get one back and things would be settled then and there. The game has come a long way but has it evolved as a sport - its no longer a game for men its a game for prima donnas and pussies. The administration of the game revolves solely around media rights and appeasing the needs of the big stakeholders. The salary cap is an absolute joke that favours those sides that the NRL wants to remain at the top for favours returned. Our position is where we are meant to be in the grand scheme of the NRL.

I didn't say every club was penalised 600K, I said practically every club has some kind of salary cap penalty. The intent and the size of any given penalty is debatable, because our penalty was reduced AND spread over two seasons. But, regardless, there are 6 other clubs that have been penalised at least as heavily as Tigers - Dogs 2002, Warriors 2005, Storm 2010, Eels 2016, Manly 2018, Sharks 2019 - so that's almost half (44%) of all clubs are in that special group.

Shane Richardson is exactly the perfect person to focus on, thank you for bringing him up.

For starters, Richo actually isn't the current Souths CEO, that is Blake Solly. Richo was CEO 2004-2015. But some really good points for Richo / Solly, take your pick.

#1, Souths HAVE actually played out of 5 home grounds just in 2018-2019 alone: ANZ, Sunshine Coast Stadium, Optus Stadium (Perth), Central Coast Stadium, Barlow Park (Cairns). Tick.

#2, Richo was involved in the removal of the premiership-winning coach with two years remaining on his contract, which they then had to pay out. Tick.

#3, Richardson was involved in the signing of a new rookie coach who then back-stabbed the club to leave after just one season in charge. Tick.

#4, in 2015 Richo left Souths to take on a position at NRL, lasted just 10 months, then came crawling back. Ironically enough, prior to Souths Richo was at Panthers, same as Pascoe.

#5 - in his time as Souths CEO 2004-2015, Souths won 1 comp, 2 wooden spoons and made the finals 5/12 seasons. That's only twice more than Tigers in that same period. 2 of their finals runs ended in first-match knockout.

#6 Richo was in charge in 2015 when Sutton and Luke Burgess got into a fight in Arizona, then paid out the victims to quash the charges. Souths were fined $20K for not initially notifying the NRL.

#7 Richo was CEO when Souths were fined in three consecutive years for salary cap breaches - $29K in 2006, $70K in 2007 and $12.5K in 2008. Tigers were also fined during this period.

Pascoe has not, nor did Cleary actually, "bugger up the salary cap". Tigers aren't back-paying or back-loading players. It's just a simple case that there are players on contract that the new coach doesn't want; but that's roster selection not the salary cap - the roster is **not** the responsibility of the CEO. Whatever you feel about the players we have and the deals they are on, there is nothing specifically wrong with the contracts or the salary cap design of those deals. There is one technicality of course, the Farah situation where we got fined for a potential offer that actually hasn't happened, that was in the media for months but apparently the NRL didn't know about it. Oh to have Greg Inglis on our books so we can just push through any old deal with him without NRL batting an eyelid!

So what is Rusty saying? No idea, don't know the bloke. What are Souths fans saying? Well you apparently are "not really concerned about other clubs TBH" and I don't pay much attention to Souths fans either, so I honestly couldn't tell you. But I'd guess in their eyes that Richo has done some things well and other things less well, same as any CEO. Are they calling Richo "a dud" - don't know.

By all accounts Richo is a shrewd administrator, but his career is also littered with clear and easy (often lazy) criticisms.

So I wonder what happens if Robbie decides to retire at the end of the year, then doesn’t take up the presumed role of advisor/ambassador (or what ever title it is)... Surely the NRL would have to retract the penalty on our salary cap for 2020.

@Tigerlily Unfortunately not.. as we needed to have it split (was one thing Marina Go asked for so as not to handicap Madge). Quite frankly if Greenberg is tossed I’ll be satisfied

Personally, I think the majority of that fine was ego driven by Greenberg. The penalties as far as I know where split between each indiscretion e.g; non disclosure of the supposed contract/not contacting Nrl and admitting fault- as the sharks did/Cap cheating/suspension of our CEO and so on...It doesn't matter if the fine was split or paid in one year, in regards to my original query the question still stands...
Ergo; Punished for a crime that technically hasn’t happened yet....

@Tigerlily of course, I understand, the only way to answer that would be to know whether or not Pascoe is now willing to go back to that and drag NRL through the courts... unlikely

Haha ok bro see you later then, weak as possible response to match your weak argument.

Wow.
And I had a post deleted earlier today for saying I thought Brooks and Thompson didn’t play that well on Fri.
Cool standards mods

Ah there's been a bit of this nonsense lately, give the mods a bit of time to tidy up.

Yeah and as per every week for the past 8.posts in the 3 2 1 thread that are not 3 2 or 1 are deleted so old man tiger can complete the tally...once done they are restored

@Geo we gotta make it as easy as possible for the spring chicken, not that hard 😛

@Geo
Fair call re the 3,2,1.
But where are we supposed to have banter about some of the votes?
I mean Brooks and Thompson getting votes last week??!?!?!?! Marsters?!?!?!
To suggest they were turd-like is an insult to turds!

It is hard to stomach the glaring bias and nonsense on here sometimes....
People are just taking the piss/trying to bait others, or they are genuinely simple.

Seems like old man tiger is being condemned to an exercise in futility when just doing a cool thing for all of us by voluntarily tallying the votes.
