We haven't made finals since 2011, surely we have to look at what has been the constant since that time. Brooks and Nofoaluma are the main culprits.

At what point do you move these guys on and say they don't deserve to wear the jumper.

How long have you been a fan, are you a common denominator?

Correlation does not equal causation.

Hitler owned a dog.........do YOU own a dog?

Yep ...gonna call it Himmler now ..thanks

The Brooks brigade ...you have to love them ...green eggs and ham ...I will love Luke on a train ...I will love luke in the rain ....I will love luke when he gives away a 7 tackle set .....I will love Luke when he doesn't fret ....I will love Luke when he puts rubbish in the bin ......I will love him when we never win ....

And haters gonna hate.

The one point that has been missed by many is our poor roster construction. We have way too many forwards of some quality with no outside backs.

Tamou, Utoikamanu, Musgrove, Ofehengaue, Twal, Amone, Mikalele. We have 7 props that are better than most backs.

Outside Backs Nofa, BJ, Talau, Jet, Kepoa, Fitzgibbon, Kei, Hoffman. Nofa is the only player you would pencil in in the entire backline.

It’s a big problem.

Going on a shopping spree for props does appear weird when PVL is looking for touch footy.

I can understand being critical of a halfback over lack of success but to blame a winger is, well, clutching at straws.

The common denominator may not be what we have, it may be what we're missing - a strong forward pack, rep players, talented spine, better shapes, speed, mongrel, aggression, etc.

We’re you watching the same game yesterday, it was Noffa who let in a lot of the first half tries

Yes, but the OP was talking about the common denominator over 10 years - I hardly think yesterday's shocker makes him responsible for the past 10 years.

We've had some woeful forwards, terrible centres, pathetic coaches and you're blaming a winger for long term failure. It simply doesn't make sense to me but I'm happy to agree to disagree.

Yet this thread is about cutting ties with two of the rare few players that have a similar attachment to the same club that many of us do. Go figure.

Yep - Brooks has become our new scapegoat. There is always one that cops the wrath more than others and usually without any objectivity.

How long do we have to wait for Nofa to learn how to tackle then?

LoL...You do know he's a winger, right?...

I just think there is not enough quality players in the competition and there are a few clubs that dominate them.
Our team is made up of players who individually can slot into other teams and go ok ( Huth and Momorovski) - but unless you have got those key 4/ 5 players like South's Melbourne Penrith Roosters - who with their top squads - are clearly the best teams wouldn't matter how well you run off the field.
Any talk of expansion just seems like a money grab for players to get paid far more than they deserve with no accountability. They are like revolving doors in a system that makes it possible to wear a jersey for one club this week and then be playing for someone else the next and for many their performance on the field reflects that attitude. The disconnect between how fans attach themselves to clubs, and how players represent clubs is getting wider
When you have got a club like Brisbane with all the resources - struggling to find players in key positions to get them playing to a standard they are use to puts things in perspective.

Largely agree but will throw in something worth thinking about.

Other than souths all the clubs you listed rely on identification of junior talent, either within their own systems or stealing it from elsewhere.

We have one of the biggest junior nurseries but manage it terribly. We are more likely to lose those star juniors than retain.

The other clubs have established cultures that these juniors are brought into. If they don't fit or don't perform, they are moved on quickly. We have no culture.

Brisbane used to have the pick of the entire state of Qld, but there is now increased competition from the titans and cowboys. Brisbane have also gone backwards in terms of corporate governance and culture.

Agree - with that. We have really suffered from not having the under 20's comp - it was a great transition to FG.

It should be U23’s...then it would be a decent transition to first grade.

No..I remember commenting a long time back (I have no idea what thread it was) that I couldn't understand why we kept going after big blokes with the new rules.

No..I remember commenting a long time back (I have no idea what thread it was) that I couldn't understand why we kept going after big blokes with the new rules.

Im sure thats true and the initial "six again" rules came in last year, but the most recent changes (restart after kicking out, six again for offside etc) that have really changed things did come after we had bought everyone.

We kept going after big blokes, because we had none. Twal and Eisenhuth were our guys. The pack is not our problem.

Our biggest issues are putting pressure on the opposition in our attack and putting presure on the opposition with our defence.

ATTACK
1. Last tackle plays offer no threat
2. Keep dropping the ball in our own half and in attacking positions
3. The speed in which we play is fairly slow compared to other teams. We started playing quite fast against the Cowboys which led to back to back tries and a chance to win the game. Prior to that we were pedestrian.

/

DEFENCE
1. No pressure in defence - we just let them come at us and roll forward
2. Missed tackles and players out of position on the edges

I dunno man , him and JTJ were beyond diabolical today . Some of the tries they allowed were ? effort stuff . He’s 28 mate.
Also brooks was one of our best yesterday so anyone blaming him for that loss is doing , what I’ve always said they were doing , just looking for someone to blame / scapegoat .

That try Nofo let in where he was standing in goal and didn't jump was park footy stuff. Not even park footy level, it's the level of a player who is new to rugby league and doesn't know it's better to compete and drop the ball than stand there and let your opposition jump all over you. It's something that happens to you once and then you never do it again. He's 27 years old and has played 144 games in first grade. Can't believe he did that.

and it would have been a 7 tackle set for us.
