Well…...lets just call it "Axl and friends", it is hardly GNR any more.

My oldest son, also attended Soundwave yesterday.
had a great time.
no problems with crowds etc

Nah no problems that I really saw. I would think that no one wants to mess up on days like this and risk getting kicked out. The moshpits were fairly active when they got up but it didn't seem to break out into fights.

One bloke did manhandle me and ask where I was going literally out of no where. He was on something and I was alone at that stage so I was a little nervous. I told him I was off to Blink and he let me go.

You leave Ringo alone, he might not have been the greatest Beatle , but he was the best damn Thomas the tank engine narrator there ever was

Yeah that's a bit strange if he wasn't a security bloke or anything  There are always plenty of freaks wherever you go these days!

Bruce Springsteen would be the pick of this year's concerts.

3.5 hour shows bring performers half his age to shame. Played a 4 hour show in Denmark last year.

Has lost two E Street members to cancer over the last couple of years. Danny Federici (organ player) and Clarence (The Big Man) Clemons (Sax and part of the iconic album cover for Born to Run)

It may be his last concerts on Australian soil given he is 63 year old.

"It's a town full of losers I'm pulling out of here to win" Thunder Road 1975

Got given tickets to Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen & The neil Finn/Paul Kelly double at the Opra House by friends for Birthday/Xmas gifts. Busy month coming up

For gods its not Axl and friends they are called Guns for hire.

Seriously though, the majority of people who go on about GNR's lineup are the same ones who go on about how Guns are nothing without Slash and totally ignore the others. Probably wouldn't even recognize Duff, Izzy, Steven or Matt if they fell over them walking down the street. They aren't qualified to discuss the most dangerous band in the world

As for the current line-up, doesn't worry me. I like all the new guys, with the exception of Ashba who is a poser and a Slash wannabe. Robin Finck was much better. I will say while nothing beats the old line-up image wise, the new guys are superior musicians, the music doesn't suffer at all. There will never be a reunion and i'm cool with that, but i'm just glad the band i've worshiped since i was 3 yrs old still around in some form. The only complaint i have is that i wish they'd put an end to the Chinese Democracy world tour they've been doing since 01 and get back in the studio and release a goddam album. Axl has so much unreleased material, it would take all of 5 mins to put together.

Problem is Axls minutes is about 475 human hours

He does march to the beat of his own drum thats for sure. When i seen them in 07 they didn't hit the stage till midnight. They were more punctual in '10 coming on at 8 30\. God knows what '13 will have in store. Considering they have 2 opening acts (ZZ Top and Rose Tattoo) i'm predicting another late night

I envy you Smeghead. Three excellent concerts.

I have seen Neil Finn as part of Split Enz, Crowded House (including the Opera House gig front row) and solo. He has to be one of the world's greatest songwriters along with the Boss and Paul Simon.

Here is a band for you playing at the Bald Faced Stag May 11th 2013 at Leichhardt

FOUR decades after their original formation, KISS certainly still knows how to put on a Monster of a show.

In the first performance of their milestone 40th anniversary year, the rock ‘n’ roll superstars kicked off their Australian tour with metal band Motley Crue at Perth Arena last night.

It was a larger-than-life spectacle featuring all the KISS concert staples fans have come to know and love over the years including make-up, high heels, pyrotechnics, blood spitting, fire-breathing, guitar licking, sparking guitars and a levitating drum kit for the band’s first live show on Perth soil since 2004.

And age proved to be nothing but a number to co-frontmen Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, who strutted around on stage oozing every ounce of the confident rock star persona they’ve always embodied.

The loyal KISS Army battalions were out in force, packing Perth Arena to the roof, rocking face-paint or official merchandise and screaming the words to every song.

It was a hit-packed two-hour set featuring the likes of Detroit Rock City, Shout It Out Loud, I Love It Loud, Psycho Circus, War Machine, an acoustic version of Shandi and Black Diamond.

There were a handful of newer hits from their latest album Monster, which was released last year, including Hell or Hallelujah, Wall of Sound and Outta This World, which saw guitarist Tommy Thayer take on lead vocals.

The crowd pleasing three song encore exploded with Lick It Up, I Was Made for Lovin’ You and Rock and Roll All Night.

Not a band to stand in the shadows, Motley Crue took to the stage with their own brand of showmanship earlier in the evening, kicking things off with a grand entrance featuring the band waltzing through the crowd, flanked by girls and spraying smoke.

Girls, Girls, Girls, Kick Start My Heart, Home Sweet Home, Dr Feelgood and Shout At The Devil all featured and drummer Tommy Lee wowed the crowd by taking his drum kit on a 360-degree rollercoaster ride.

Irish rock band Thin Lizzy performed a set including Killer on the Loose, Don’t Believe a Word, Suicide, Jailbreak and The Boys Are Back in Town on the night.
